Berkshire Facial Surgery

I was sent by my Primary Dentist for a gum line growth with pain. It needed to be removed along with a biopsy performed. It was a benign tumor. I don't recall the actual date but I can get it. The statement Berkshire Facial Surgery notes on the bottom Ins. was billed last on July, 2012 but it doesn't state the date of service. The problem is we went out of network, weren't informed by the practice that we were going out of network so the procedure wasn't covered on dental or later on medical. The other issue is we didn't get a statement saying we owed money for almost a year to be exact. I've received 2 statements just recently and my wife inquired to the practice after the first one. They said no statements went out for close to a year due to staff and in house issues. They have now been rectified and that's why we received the first statement. I've called our medical ins. and spoke with them and they said going out of network probably would have been covered because it was a surgical procedure but due to the fact the time frame of 180 days has expired they can't do anything about it. The most recent conversation with the rude condescending staff said the doctors work was done and he needs to be paid and that the office staff has been revamped. I've since then retired and to be informed close to a year later that I owe 1040.00 and the fact I have Ins and can't do anything about it is unacceptable.. How many other people has this affected???? His poor staffing issues should not mean patients get the brunt of it.
