BHS ordered presurginal assessment at a different BHS location rather than thru Doctor who had full information so could bill 2 ofc visits In November 2013 BHS a misdiagnosed my husband's problem, ordered presurginal assessment at a different BHS location rather than thru Dr Silverstein who had full information, and scheduled the assessment on following date, so they could bill for two office visits instead of one. Since they originally claimed there was a need for surgery, but upon reviewing a CT scan found nothing, the presurgical assessment was unnecessary and doctor cancelled the surgery. BHS billing staff originally researched and said my insurer should pay for the assessment with no copay, but later reversed herself. My insurer says the assessment was an office visit subject to copay. Date Dec 5, 2013 reference item MXXXXXXXXXXX. I spent hours on the phone to get the expense covered. the amount it $35.00. The process of having an outside office at a second location perform an unneeded service so the office can bill twice (for the doctor and for the clerk) is unethical and wastes rerources. Desired SettlementMinimally BHS must remove the charge on our account. They should stop the unnecessary practice of forcing patients to come to another office for presurgical assessment, particularly when they have all the needed data on hand.Business Response Response to Complaint:We have investigated the details of the services rendered regarding this complaint. Our findings indicate that the services and charges incurred were valid and appropriate.We are willing to explain the reason for the findings directly with the consumer but due to HIPAA laws cannot share with any other parties.The consumer is advised to contact us for further review of the services. Thank you.
