Berkshire Manor West Apartment Homes Reviews (1)

False documentation per leaseBack in October of last year I came to Berkshire Manor West to look at an apartment that was advertised online. I met up with a young lady I had found on [redacted] and viewed a model of the apartment. After looking at the model I decided to not rent from this complex even though I had already submitted and application. A few months later I went to apply for another apartment and was informed after running my credit report that I was listed as living at Berkshire Manor West in a lease! It even stated that I owed Berkshire money and that I was currently leasing from them. The first thing I did was contact Berkshire and requested to speak to a manager. I was given the run around multiple times and informed that the manager [redacted] was "on vacation" and that she would contact me when she gets back. After almost 2 weeks of trying to speak to the manager she finally answered my phone call. I was beyond frustrated and [redacted] made it no better. Instead of trying to help my fix the situation she rudely informed me that she didn\'t know why my information was in their system and offered no solution to help. She finally hung up on me and I decided to personally visit the office and get to the bottom of the situation. Upon arrival I noticed that the same girl I was going to room with had actually started working in the leasing office (she was working at [redacted] when we met.) They even said how "strange" it was that the money my credit report stated I owed was the same amount of the former potential roomates water bill. I instantly became suspicious and tried to contact [redacted] Management the property owners but I NEVER recieved a response. [redacted], the manager, did manage to clear the information off of my report but it was such a shame that I had to go through so much just to get some assistance. Even still I stupidly decided to give them another chance in hopes that what happened was simply an honest mistake even though to this day I still have my doubts. I signed for a short term lease from the middle of March to July. I havent even been here a whole month and I am already having problems. Upon signing the lease I was given a copy of not only the lease but also a statement saying how much I paid and when my rent would be due next. On this form signed by Berkshire it cleary states that my next payment for rent would be due MAY 1ST 2014 and that my first months rent is 0.00, I paid the prorated rate for the month of March. During the time I leased there was a promotion going on Berkshires website that there would be a free months rent if you decided to lease with them as well as student specials. I was also told over the phone that they offered many specials for students (which I am). After the first week of April I was contacted by the rental office and informed that I was late on April\'s rent. I informed them that I had documentation saying that my rent wasn\'t due until May and I was told that I was supposed to recieve $250 off the rent not the full month free. I was instantly confused and told them I would bring the document to them personally. I approached [redacted] once again about the matter and was rudely informed that it was a typo and that I would have to pay. I stormed out frustrated and after calming down I called [redacted] to let her know that I should not have to suffer again at the hands of her mistakes. She wrote off the conversation and told me mistakes happen and that there is nothing she can do about this matter. She then hung up on me once again and told me I had to pay.As of today 4/13/14 I received a letter in the mail that I have 5 days to pay the rent or get out which was supposed to be given to me 5 days ago . I am sick of this company and their unprofessional ways and I refuse to suffer once again because of their lack of organization. The apartments are cheaply made and my roommate and I suspect that their is [redacted] coming from the vents. I even called maintenance and the never came. Desired SettlementI am seeking for Berkshire Manor West to waive my first months rent. I am willing to pay the rest of my lease up and once it is over I will never deal with this establishment again. Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted], ManagerContact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@berkshiremanorwest.comTo whom it may concern;I am responding to inform you that each situation has been responded to independently. [redacted] resolved the initial issue regarding credit as it happened and to my understanding the account was cleared and settled, the monthly rental amount for April was waived for customer satisfaction, and and outside contractor has cleaned all ducts and vents throughout the apartment. For any further questions please do not hesitate to call or e-mail.[redacted]Property Manager(XXX) XXX-XXXX[redacted]@berkshiremanorwest.com
