Berlin Homes, Inc Reviews (3)

Review: In February 2014, we purchased a modular home from Berlin Homes after our home was destroyed by a fire. Our house was set April 1, 2014. After that day, [redacted] and his sub contractors worked on putting our house together, doing the wiring, etc. Approximately May 12, 2014 we moved into our home. There have been many issues, to which [redacted] is aware. Those issues include, but are not limited to, a leaky outside faucet, a doorbell, that we payed for and is not, to this day, installed, a heater vent in the kitchen that is covered and therefore, our kitchen is cold. We were promised an energey efficient furnace for our home. Our "energy efficient furnace" this winter meant our heating bills per month were between $375 and $480 per month; and our heat was set to 60 degrees. Other issues include we were lead to believe up until the very last possible minute that we would have central air. As we were learning from Mr. [redacted] the ins and outs of our programmable thermometer, my husband made the comment about where do I turn on the central air? Mr. [redacted] replied "Dont you recall our conversation, where we were trying to save money and we didnt get that". We also made it of utmost important to him, that we have a lazy Susan and an island in the kitchen. The island in the kitchen cost an extra $700 to $900, and he remembered that. Our home cost us $140,000. Mr. [redacted] has ran into us several times at such places as Lowes and Wal-Mart, and he makes promises he will come back to finish our home. In March of 2015, I sent a certified letter to Mr, [redacted] stating that he needed to contact us and that he needed to quit the excuses and finish our house. It is now the end of May 2015, and he has not been back. We also have the issue to deal with regarding an account he opened with my husband, and INSISTED that all the money be put in that account. We never received a statement from that account, and never received any of the interest. We do not know what transactions were processed threw that account and if the account is still open or not.Desired Settlement: We want the job finished, the 'energy efficient' furnace we were promised, our doorbell installed, and the central air installed as discussed, and what we were led to believe; and other items fixed at no cost to us.

Review: Well the house was about finished a Month later than was told at purchase date,And we need to be out of our apartment due to our lease running out So we needed to move in our new house being built by berlin homes But they wouldn't let us until we paid them in full so we did But since then I've only seen him one time and the house still isn't finished He still needs to finish our railing upstairs Fix our floor where it split from poor installation Finish the drywall in stair well, some exterior work,Chimney cap, the drywall is cracked in a dozen places Finish some exterior work,He didn't even insulate my band board and my pipes froze and I had to do it out of my own pocket!!He has terrible service won't return my calls and when I do talk to him he lies about coming backDesired Settlement: I want him to pay messer construction llc a local contractor To finish my house and fix his mess I don't want him back here after he lies to me and took advantage of me!!!

Review: My husband and I signed a contract with Berlin Homes on January 27, 2010 to purchase a manufactured home. We were informed by Berlin Homes that one (1) year after taking ownership of the home, they would repair issues resulting from the house settling, including but not limited to wall and ceiling cracks, grout that has loosened from the ceramic tiles, etc. We obtained our Certificate of Occupancy from Somerset County Building Inspections, LLC, on June 22, 2010. Since 2011, my husband has spoken to Mr. [redacted], owner and/or operator of Berlin Homes, Inc., concerning these outstanding issues that need to be rectified. Most recently, he personally meet with Mr. [redacted] on July 29, 2013. As of today, Mr. [redacted] has failed to contact us to resolve these issues. Therefore, I contacted an attorney to write a letter to Berlin Homes, Inc. This letter was mailed on October 3, 2013, by certified return receipt requested. I have just been informed that Berlin Homes failed to claim the letter and the same has been returned unclaimed. My husband and I have been patient in permitting Berlin Homes to address these problems, however, our patience is wearing thin.Desired Settlement: We are requesting that Berlin Homes, Inc., contact us and make the necessary arrangements to rectify the outstanding issues resulting from the settling of our manufactured home.

Response:

We are in the process of trying to resolve these issues. I tried to send a drywall repair man to fix their issues, but Mr. [redacted] did not approve of the person that I was sending. He stated that he was concerned about the sub contractor's back ground, I have since found another sub contractor to make arrangements with the [redacted]s to fix the issues. They should have been contacted by now to set up time and day that suits. Berlin Homes Inc
