on X-XX-XX I decided to change auto insurance policy, and contacted GEICO who told they will send a termination letter to my prior insurance company they stated that they addressed it the send day to be in effect on [redacted] rock knowing of the cancellation still went ahead and charge my account, when they send my reimbursement they were short [redacted] after many attends to contact them they just came back with different allegations just to stay with my money.. now they are saying that is a charge for early termination fee...no other insurance have early termination fee.. just cause some deside to change insurance carrier...please help me with this issue I nedd my money backProduct_Or_Service: auto insuranceAccount_Number: praXXXXXXXXXXXDesired Settlementrefund of my [redacted] dollars that they were short on.Business Response [redacted]Document Attached[redacted]We received the 2A transfer form from Geico on [redacted] and cancelled the policy accordingly, back to [redacted] However, because we had not received the 2A form until after the Insured's Automatic deduction date of [redacted] the amount of [redacted] still processed. The Insured brought a representative with her to our office on multiple occasions to translate for her, and we explained to the gentleman why the payment was withdrawn, and that she would be refunded for the unused portion of the premium due back to her within approximately 2 weeks. We then requested that [redacted] overnight the refund check to the Insured, which they did. This information was all relayed to the Insured in the office. The "normal" monthly payments for the Insured were [redacted] with that last amount withdrawing on February XX XXXX. The Insured then made a change to their policy switching their garaging address from [redacted] to [redacted] resulting in a pro-rated policy decrease of [redacted] so their next automatic deduction for March was reduced to only [redacted] On [redacted] the Insured then switched their vehicle & coverage from a 2005 [redacted] with Comprehensive only coverage, to a 2015 [redacted] 4 with full Collision and Comprehensive coverage, resulting in a pro-rated addition of [redacted] Because the automatic deduction pre-note for [redacted] had already gone to the bank, it could not be adjusted, so the [redacted] payment went thru as originally scheduled in the amount of [redacted] The [redacted] bill (pre-note) was then issued to the Insured and the bank on [redacted] in the amount of [redacted] The amount was in addition to what they would normally pay, because it was billing for the pro-rated back amount due, from [redacted] when the change was made to current. When the cancellation was processed, they were only due a refund of [redacted] because they had back owed premium due. This was explained by agents in our office at [redacted] as well as by their Insurance Company [redacted] directly. The Agency, [redacted] and the Insured also were on a call together, where this was explained. As far as the early termination fee, all insurance companies will charge a short rate penalty fee, which is a calculation of the balance on the policy, if the Insured transfers to another carrier outside of the transfer terms, which is 30 days before/after their effective or renewal term date, which in the Insured's case is [redacted] The early termination fee was not the cause of the refund check being issued for [redacted] The refund of only [redacted] rather than [redacted] was due to the fact that the Insured owed past due premium for a vehicle & coverage change made on [redacted] that had not been billed for.
