My wife and I discontinued snowplow services with B. Bolton Excavating in November 2018 (after plowman tore up new driveway). Since then, an acquaintance has been plowing said driveway (i.e. for 15 months now).
Nonetheless, we received a bill from B. Bolton in January (for two plowings). We immediately phoned his office to correct this error. There was no response. On 2/12/20 a second invoice arrived--with a total for three more plowings.
According to Bolton's records, the bill is now for $214.00 total--for absolutely no services rendered, nor requested.
I spoke with *** on February 13, 2020 regarding his concerns of services not performed at his home on ***. He stated he cancelled services by Berness Bolton November 2018 and had sent the company a letter.
I began the conversation first by apologizing for the billing and noted I would immediately credit his account. I stated I had been unable to return his first call as the message left on the voice mail had cut out and all I could understand was ***. I had also mentioned unfortunately my accounting software does not give me an option to look up customers solely on the address, nor does the office have caller ID to look up previous calls. Secondly I had let *** know I took over for Stacey D June 24, 2019, Stacey passed away June 19, 2019 and that I had not been aware of services not being needed, as I had not known until the billing issue arose. I explained that I had no record for plowing services for all driveways in the area and that this past fall - October 2019 I had put a spreadsheet together based on previous years. While on the phone I issued a credit memo which I had advised I would do. I have attached a statement which you will see bringing his balance to zero.
