time we signed it. We were in agreement that the items were to sell to the highest bidder with no reserve. I also advertised the items and sold them according to the standards in my industry. The market is not a retail market, it is more a wholesale market as I explained to her. I conducted myself in a professional manner and I'm highly offended by her accusations. I have been in this business for fourteen years and I have a very good reputation. I can refer you to many upstanding citizens in our area that would agree with that statement. When you brought your items in without an appointment I remember it all quite clearly. I distinctly remember telling you exactly what to expect for your eclectic items. I said that the market for art in general is down and has been down for the past several years. I also told you that your little Tupton vases were not old and reproductions as the boxes they came in we're from the last few years. I remember telling you that a whole box of things you had that day wouldn't bring a bid and for you to take them back. I did take the time to look up the artist on the angel frames and discovered that they were not of substantial value and also the fact remains that I asked if you wanted a minimum bid on them and you said no just sell them. You signed a contract stating just that. I will not forward more money your way for the items. They sold to the highest bids just as we agreed they should. Mary Ann C[redacted]

The owner of the company and I must have been at two different places. First, she did tell me some of my items would be garage sale material, which I knew, however, she took the items of value. She never mentioned the art prices were down, nor did she ever ask me if I wanted her to sell them for a minimum. I would never have told her to sell 3 framed prints valued at 300-400 dollars(framed), for 20 dollars for all 3! she never mentioned my vases were newer, old tupton is all newer. it did not come out till around 2002. but, she sold 4 vases together for ten dollars! I had told her I paid like 150 for them, not to mention I had receipts! Also, my peacock decoration was 200 and she said she liked eclectic things for her auctions. Whem I asked her about her clientele that attended her auctions if they were pretty knowlegable and brought fair prices, she assured me they were! As I stated before, I wasnt expecting what I paid, but I was expecting 150 dollars or so! 42 dollars is a complete insult! she also told me to come in that day around 3 00 p.m., as I definitely called her first to see when I could come in and get directions. I didnt mean to accuse her of anything shady, but her business definitely is not a good one, if these were the prices she got! I would gave rather given the items away! I still feel she should compensate me something, but know she wont. believe me, I have learned my lesson. hopefully this doesnt happen to anybody else.
