Bertini's European Service Center Reviews (2)

Sent: Wednesday, October 19, 2016 6:29 PMTo: drteamSubject: Re: Revdex.com complaint id [redacted] Sorry for the lagging response. Mr. [redacted] came by several days ago and we had a long conversation. We went over his areas of concerns, and I showed him where the issues were on his car. I advised him we were waiting on several small parts from Germany and would be repairing the problems as they arrived. As of today the air conditioning concerns have been addressed. The piece to address the running concern is due to arrive tomorrow. I assured Mr. [redacted] that I was taking this on personally and would get it repaired to his satisfaction. I also let him know that I would be performing a thorough inspection of the entire automobile to advise of any other upcoming repairs his 1975 [redacted] might require. When he left he seemed satisfied with that plan.[redacted] McIntyre [redacted] European[redacted]

Mr [redacted] had his car towed in for a no start condition. He also stated the car was not running properly and would like a "tune up". We asked if he would rather have us determine if there was an actual problem first e.g.  low compression, faulty fuel system etc. He declined and asked us ...

to"just give it a tune-up". He also stated hat hot air was coming from the center vents and would like that looked at as well.  Upon testing we found that his battery was no good and advised that he replace it. He states the battery was fairly new and that e would come get it to warranty it which he did. We also advised that we had temporarily installed a new battery for testing purposes and had determined the starter had a problem. Under cranking load (something that cannot be duplicated with bench testing) the starter draw exceeded 350 amps and the starter sounded like grinding metal. Because of this we advised replacing the starter. After completing the requested tune-up, the car still only ran on 6 cylinders (the car is an 8 cylinder). We called Mr. [redacted] an advised him of the issues regarding the running and asked him how he would like us to proceed. He asked us to determine the cause of the remaining misfires. We determined that there was no output signal to cylinders 6 and 8 from the fuel injection control unit. We advised him of the cost  and he authorized us to proceed with the replacement of the control unit.. We also advised that whoever had been in his dash to install the aftermarket radio had re-assembled all the control cables incorrectly and had broken most of the plastic levers.Because of the age these parts had to come from Germany. The levers arrived and were installed and the system functioned normally. The car sat for several days before Mr. [redacted] arrived to pick it up. I had driven the car that morning and noted that it ran poorly if the throttle was opened beyond about 60%. Mr. [redacted] arrived to pick up the car and we advised him of the additional running problem. He left the car to have us determine the cause, which was traced to a worn throttle switch. Mr.[redacted] declined this repair and several days later came to pick up his car. He called back about an hour later to state the car would not start but all the dash lights functioned and that warm air was mixing in the a/c again. We sent a tow truck to Mr. [redacted] house to retrieve the car. upon arrival we checked the battery he supplied, it had 11.5 volts. We installed a new battery and the car started immediately and has started ever since. We are still trying to determine the cause of the a/c problem and have additional parts on order from Germany to replace a failed vacuum switch in the dash. In summary we are trying to address Mr. [redacted] concerns while dealing with an automobile that is over 40 years old. We always strive to exceed our customer expectations and sometimes we fail, but we are working through this in good faith to remedy the problems on Mr. [redacted] vehicleTell us why here...
