Besco Shippers Reviews (%countItem)

I shipped two barrels with Besco on October 15, 2019. The barrels were addressed to Freeport, Grand Bahama, Bahamas. Besco delivered my barrels to the Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas. The wrong island! When I was informed that the barrels were delivered to the wrong island, I called and Ayanna asked me "why can't they just get them to Freeport?". After explaining that the barrels will have to travel by boat or plane and that I was sure there would be additional fees for this, she agreed to try to help with the additional fees. She said "let me know what they charge and I will see what we can do." The additional fees due to the shipment being sent to the wrong island total $335.00. There is a broker fee of $250.00 and the mail boat fee of $85.00. Had a broker not gotten involved with this, the barrels would have been auctioned off! Besco has not returned my calls and today when I called Ayanna hung up on me! I have been shipping with this company for nearly 15 years... I am in shock that they are treating me this way after such a long relationship. I don't know what else to do so I am asking for help.

Besco Shippers Response • Jan 16, 2020

January 14th, 2020.

To Whom It May Concern,

Shipper *** has been shipping with our company primarily to Jamaica for years, she is a valued customer.

Besco Shippers has contractual obligation to several shipping lines. *** is our shipper to the Bahamas. On September 1st 2019 the Bahamas Islands of Abaco and Freeport, (Grand Bahamas) were hit with what was considered the strongest hurricane on record.

All cargo movement to the island of Freeport was restricted to barge services as the container cranes on that island were destroyed. The Government was only allowing emergency vessels in eg. Red Cross. The only shipping company that started service to the island was *** operating out of Florida and it was only relief cargo.

Early November *** had ceased service to Freeport. All cargo was redirected to Nassau and all our customers where informed. If cargo needed to be moved to Freeport it would have to move via barge service and the customer would have to undertake that move them self. *** needed her cargo in Freeport and subsequently she had it cleared in Nassau and moved over to Freeport via a custom broker service. This was her doing. We are not responsible for the cost incurred in moving the cargo to Freeport, (Grand Bahama).

Since the beginning of December 2019, *** has now issued the go-ahead to move cargo to Freeport as the commercial shipping lanes are open.

Your Respectfully,

Ludlow H

President

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:I have received the response from Besco Shippers and disagree. When I called to schedule a pick up of the barrels, Chris asked me where I was shipping to and I told him Freeport, Grand Bahama. At no time did Chris mention any issues with shipping to Freeport. He scheduled my pick up and that was all. When Shane arrived on 10/15/19 to pick up the barrels, he knew they were going to Freeport and never once said anything about not being able to ship to Freeport. If I had known that Besco could not ship to Freeport, I would not have shipped the barrels. In Mr. H letter he states that early November *** ceased service to Freeport. I shipped my barrels on 10/15/19. Besco Shippers states that cargo was not being allowed into Freeport. However, Edwin, the recipient of barrels states that cargo was coming into Freeport daily. The barrels I shipped were CLEARLY marked HURRICANE RELIEF. When I called Besco on 11/15/19 and spoke to Ayanna, she was surprised as well when I told her the barrels were sent to Nassau, New Providence instead. Only after she called me back did she start telling me about how they couldn't ship to Freeport. Since then, it has been one story after another from Besco Shippers and Anthony never did call me back. I have been lied to, hung up on, and each time their story gets more twisted. The fact of the matter is, no one told me anything about not being able to ship to Freeport and now I got stuck with these large bills. I trusted them to ship these barrels and they messed up. After all these years of doing business with them, they should own their mistake. Prior to shipping these two barrels to Freeport, I shipped two separate barrels to Nassau, New Providence. The recipients of those barrels have sent me their receipts for what they had to pay to clear the barrels. Anything above and beyond that Besco Shippers is responsible for. Please see attached.
Regards
