9/28/*** *** has been a long time customer of Joe Bess AutomotiveOn October of *** had her Dodge Grand Caravan towed into the shopWe paid for the towWhen we got her van into the shop we called *** and she came upWe explained to her that the engine was blown and
not repairable. We gave her a ballpark ideal what a new engine would cost, which was 3500-She stated she had very limited funds and we know she has or young children and depends on this vanShe asked us for the cheapest possible option with a used motorWe priced one with a day warranty and gave her an installed price quote of $1700-She chose not to install any new parts on the replacement engineWe used the best parts from the old and new engine and installed it over the next weekThe van ran great and *** came to pick it up with her mother and her childrenShe was very happy with the workWe gave her a day limited warranty and instructed her to change the oil by miles, at no chargeWe recommended a complete tuwhen she could afford it10/16/paid a $deposit and a balance of $upon completionTotal of $Also at this time *** also wanted her air conditioner repairedWe replaced the hoses and seals to repair leaks at no charge to her and advised her to come in late next spring when we had Freon in stock for a system evacuate and chargeAn a/c charge is $39.99, which includes the first lb of Freon and $per addl pound of Freon as come larger vans and SUVs’ can take 3+ pounds 3/21/*** came in on March 21, to have the A/C chargedShe did not want to pay and tried to say it was included in the engine workI reminded her that we had replaced parts and repaired the a/c leak at no charge to her, but that there would be a charge for Freon in the spring. The charge was $for a charge and a total of lbs of Freon 8/1/***’s van was towed to the shopCustomer paidRadiator was leaking badly. We first brought the van in to check it out and it was quarts low on oil and 5,miles past the recommended oil changeWe did an oil and filter change and lube, and topped off the fluids***’s husband *** came up to the shopWe immediately advised him that the oil was dangerously low and extremely overdue and that not keeping up on this would cause damage to the engine and could have been the problem with the original engineHe was very defensive, but paid $for the oil changeHe asked me to call around and get price estimates to replace his radiatorI got the best price from Gravois radiator and with parts and labor gave him an estimated price of about $He was agitated and told me he could get a cheaper radiator on the internetI advised him the one he was looking at was not the proper replacement radiator for his van but if he wanted to purchase the correct parts himself that we would install if for him*** decided to take the van homeWe advised him verbally and in writing that in our opinion the van was not drivableIt had been towed in, had leaked all the anti-freeze out, and was still leaking badlyHe acknowledged this and drove the van off our lot anywayWe did not hear back from himSeptember 15, *** brought the van up to the shopIt has a coolant leak from an improperly installed radiator (that we did not do) and the engine has a miss and needs a basic tune-upWe gave and estimate for the repairs and apparently *** wanted the tufree of charge and this caused a disagreement *** ***
