Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/06/29) */
To whom it may concern,
I am writing this in response to case # XXXXXXXX regarding [redacted] and an alteration done to her dress upon request. She arrived at my place of business on May 2, 2015 to have her wedding gown hemmed and a...

bustle put in place. At this time we had marked the hem line but no work had taken place on the dress. To make sure that all measurements were correct [redacted] was given a second fitting appointment on May 19, 2015 but we were unable to do a second fitting and she was rescheduled for May 26, 2015. [redacted] arrived on the 26th for her second fitting, but she failed to bring the exact shoes she would be wearing for her wedding that would occur on the 14th of June. She then told me that she had her shoes for the appointment on the 19th but had forgotten them today. I then proceeded to ask her if she was wearing the shoes that she would be wearing for her wedding on her first appointment. [redacted] then told me that she had worn the correct shoes on her first appointment. The dress was then checked a second time to make sure that the hem line was even and lengthened to the floor. [redacted] stated at this time that the dress looked fine. She was then given her last appointment on June 2, 2015 to pick up her dress. At this point all work that was to be completed on the dress was done. When she arrived on June 2nd she tried on her dress at the store and proceeded to tell me that she was unhappy with the buttons, and that she wanted a slight adjustment to the lining of the dress. These were easily completed while she was still in the store. At this point she seemed satisfied with her dress and paid for her alterations and left the store.
I received a phone call a few hours later from [redacted]. She stated that her mother told her that the dress was uneven on the bottom and that the dress was too short. Her mother then takes the phone and begins to immediately verbally attack me. She tells me that the dress is ruined, and she is purchasing a new one and then stated that I would be paying full price for her dress. She did not give me the opportunity to explain any solutions to her problem. There were several solutions, one of them being a replacement of the skirt portion of the dress with the exact same materials. A second solution was to lengthen the dress from the waist line. Both solutions would not alter the appearance of the dress from its original manufacturer design. However, these solutions were immediately dismissed and she then repeatedly told me that I was going to pay and hung up the phone before I had the opportunity to respond.
[redacted]'s mother then comes back the next day and begins to attack me verbally once again by threatening me with legal actions, picket lines, poor online reviews, and reporting me to the Revdex.com. She wanted my insurance to pay for her dress or myself. At this point she was completely irate and I told her that if she continued I would call the police and have her escorted off the property.
I did offer several solutions to [redacted] that were dismissed, the only resolution that this customer wanted was a complete refund of the value of the dress. I did not agree to replace any dresses prior to alterations. In my expert opinion the dress was not ruined, and could have been re-altered to address her complaints. As it is too late to alter the dress again since the wedding has already passed there is no resolution to be made to this customer.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 12, 2015/06/29) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
[redacted] claims that I did not have my correct shoes at my second fitting. I had told her at that time that I had forgotten my shoes but had gone to get them before comeing to my appointment. Not that I did not have my shoes. Either way the dress was pinned to short and she repinned the dress to be longer. I brought up that it looked a little short and she said once it was steamed it would be fine. I never told her when I picked up the dress it was fine. I just paid and left because I was upset. I was hoping to be able to wear the dress with shorter shoes but with how uneven it was it could not have been shortened any more. [redacted] resolution was to buy new fabric and sew a complete new bottom to my dress. I was not comfortable doing this since she ruined the first one and my wedding was the following sunday. The reason I was sceduled for a second fitting was because she was double booked. Three other brides came in during my appointment time.
