Best Cab Company

I needed a morning cab ride from my house in New Berlin, WI to a car repair shop located in Wauwatosa, WI (which is also near my work). The distance between my house the repair shop is 5.8 miles.

For estimating my cab fare, I googled and found the site taxifarefinder.com. This site estimated the fare from my house to [redacted] to be approx. $20.

When I googled nearby cab companies I saw that Best Cab located in Waukesha, WI - 7.1 miles from my house - was the closest cab company.

I called Best Cab to make a reservation, told them where I lived and where I was going and they said they would send a cab over (without giving me a fare quote or offering to tell me the price). As I have taken many cabs in my life, I did not call back to inquire about the price because I am very familiar with the standard metered rates.

When Best Cab picked me up and I got into the cab, I was informed by the cab driver that my cab ride was going to cost $44 - a flat rate. I asked the cab driver why the rate was so high and why there wasn't a usual metering system. All he could say in response is that Best Cab uses a flat rate for cab rides to various parts of the city.

As I had no other way to get to the repair shop (and my work which is right down the street), I took the cab. I asked the cab driver for an explanation a couple more times during the ride. The cab driver couldn't explain much more than that is was a flat rate.

Overall, I felt very taken advantage of by Best Cab. Their rate for my ride was more than double the standard rate and their pricing system is abnormal (flat rate vs. metered rate). They were not upfront about their rate and put me in an akward situtation by telling me the rate once I entered the cab.

I would like to be refunded for what I paid above the standard rate. I hope the Revdex.com can take the proper steps in rectifying this situation and making others aware of this.
