I hired Best Choice Medical Transport to take my year old mother and me to her 4:doctor's appointment on January 6, I told ***, the scheduler, that my mother would be in a transport chair, that there were steps to go down, and that there was no ramp I also told her that my subdivision is new and is not on GPS I told her to tell the driver that my street is off Holland-Sylvania Road between Central and Bancroft She said the driver would pick us up at 3:for the 4:appointment
Driver never arrived till 3:because she went to Holland, OH instead of Holland-Sylvania Road Driver pulled into my driveway and just sat there till I went out and got her She was unable to push the chair, with my mother in it, over the threshold so the driver wanted to use a different doorwayI told her this was the widest doorwayAfter at least tries, she got the chair over the threshold When she tried to push the chair down the final step, she got the bar under the chair wedged on the edge of the step She said she couldn't lift up the chair because she had a bad back and told me to do it I tried but was unable to do it and without warning, she lifted up the back of the chair so high that my mother slid off the chair and landed on her tailbone on the sidewalk She would have been seriously injured had I not had her wrapped in a heavy blanket and wearing a thick winter coat
Then, the driver wheeled the chair onto the ramp in back of the van She couldn't push the chair into the van and she didn't know why I looked at the front wheels on the chair and saw that they were turned sideways so I straightened them myself since she didn't know what to do
We got a few driveways away from the doctor's building when the van started sputtering The driver said she hopes there's enough gas to make it there
As she was getting my mom out of the van, she told me I owed $ I said I wasn't paying for that ride She said when I scheduled this ride, I agreed to pay for it I told her I sure didn't agree to have her drop my mom or run out of gas She responded that it was my fault my mom fell because I should have had a ramp (Remember that in the top paragraph above, I told the scheduler there was no ramp.)
We arrived at my mom's 4:appointment at minute till 4:and I still had a stack of forms to fill out because it was her first appointment with this doctor Best Choice considered that satisfactory because we were still on time for the appointment
Because I didn't pay for the ride there, Best Choice refused to pick us up after the appointment
This whole experience was a nightmare that I hope no one else has to go through
