Best Craft Furniture Incorporated

The sofa I bought in 2004, from Best Craft through the retailer Van Vreedes, came with a lifetime warranty on the frame. The frame cracked a while back and I contacted the retailer which it states to do in the warranty claim procedure. It isn't stated anywhere that you have to pay for the service for the repair. I believe this is false advertising and misleading to me as a consumer. The retailer offered to repair it for a $72 fee. When I called Best Craft they offered to repair it if I brought the sofa to their factory for a repair fee as well. What good is a lifetime warranty if you have to pay?

Review: I purchased a couch from LaFrenier's Furniture in Negaunee, MI which was made by Best Craft Furniture. I purchased this in December 2012 and paid $730. After about 6 months the fabric on the cushion started to pile and the cushions were sunk in. I called the store several times with nothing happening, then called Best Craft direct, after about 5 months they sent new cushion to the store and I brought in the old ones and picked up the new, when I put the new cushions on the couch they slanted in, after trying to figure out why I lifted up the couch and the frame was broken. I called Best Craft and told them about the new problem with no one calling me back, I have also contacted the store to help me. They said I would have to bring the couch up to the store and they would send it back to Best Craft and Best Craft would look at it and charge me $50 to make repairs. I do not have a way to bring the couch to Negaunee and I don't feel I should have to pay to have something fixed that was defective craftsmanship. I do not have any children or pets or even any company over that have sat on the couch. I weigh 155 pounds which should not break the frame or indent the cushions.

I feel I was sold a sub par piece of furniture. I am not able to just go out and buy a new couch every couple of years. So now I have spent $730 and have nothing to sit on.

All service issues need to go through the retail store where the item was purchased as stated in our warranty. Our warranty states parts are covered during the useful life of the unit and labor is covered for one year. After one year we will charge a fee of $50 per hour for any repairs. As per our warranty transportation is not covered between the customer and the retail store. Transportation is the responsibility of the customer unless the retail stores policy covers it.

We are preparing to purchase our 3rd futon from Best Craft for our rental cabins on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage, Mercer, WI. The futon we prefer is the one designed to look like a couch with upholstery (no wood arms). Our first futon lasted 11 years in a rental cabin. The fabric is still in excellent condition. However, the right side of the futon where most people sat, became soft. The futon has been moved to a hunting shack where is fine for us, but not up to the standards we provide for our guests.

I ordered 2 sofas and 2 ottomans, with different legs than on the showroom floor. My experience with both and dealer in Whitehall, MI and with Best Craft has been wonderful. The items were ready on time (actually ahead of schedule), the color of the fabric was perfect, the workmanship great. The order for different legs was correct, and looked beautiful. The dealer had to store them for a couple weeks because we hadn't gotten rid of the old furniture yet - no problem. We are very pleased with the quality and our overall experience. And this... at a very reasonable price! Thank you Best Craft; we'll be back.
