Review: We reserved a large truck with 3 guys for 9:00am start Friday 2/**/14 move. We received confirmation from a representative from the company. The day before the move that representative tells us he has no power over the changes, a [redacted] ([redacted]) emails alternative confirmation that they will arrive at 11:30 because they are busy and tells us they will only accept cash. These were not the terms we agreed to. Since it was the day before the move we had no choice to agree. (I called several moving companies and they were all booked) The day of the move they were unprofessional, they yelled at me becuase I was calling to find out when they will arrive. At 12:30 I demanded to know if they will arrive at all (New apartment building does not allow move-in after 5:00pm), so [redacted] said the original crew is too busy and he can send a 2 man crew instead. At this point I felt like I didn't have a choice. It was the last day of my lease, we had to move by that afternoon. At 1:30 a two man crew with a small truck arrived! It was an old beat-up truck...not an air-ride truck promosied. They crammed everything into this small truck, damaging my furniture and breaking several items in boxes. When they arrived at the new apartment (at 5:30pm) they would not unload unless I paid in full for their estimated bill which includes travel from brooklyn (I called westchester moving) tolls, tape (they used my supplies), charged me for hours they worked on packing the truck over and over again so they can fit everything in one ride. This was not my reservation. We agreed they will take apart the 2 baby cribs and put them together. That did not happen, the mover said if I want him to assemble that will cost an additional $40. The [redacted] and the sales guy [redacted] used unfair business practices by promising a service they had no intention of providing. They held my belongings unless I paid in cash and in full to whatever bill they dreamed up of. When I called [redacted] to discuss he was rude and told me that I don't have a choice and hung up on me. They were suppose to provide insurance to my building management but they did not do so.Desired Settlement: I want a partial refund. I want the guys who actually helped us to receive their pay but the rest should be refunded as I feel it was completely unfair and they did not hold up to their reservation. Instead of apologizing (perhaps this was an error) it seemed that this is their normal business practice to manipulate their clientele by promising everything they request and then providing minimal service for the same rate. I had to pay the building a fee for moving in late, I missed seveal appointments because they made commitments they would not keep.

Review: When I spoke to the owner of the establishment [redacted] over the phone he had said that the price of the movers were $55 an hour for two hour minimum plus $55 to travel to my destination. The two movers took over three hours to move out a rooms worth of items with the majority being shoe boxes. They did not follow my orders on how I wanted the products moved and that caused an additional delay when we arrived at the first stop. When they were finally finished 5 and a half hours later they charged me an additional $50 for tolls and gas that was never discussed. I called the owner [redacted] to ask about it and he gets rude on the phone on how I should have known about it even though it was never discussed. He waives $20 for gas for a job that should have taken 3 hours at most it was a move in the same borough. I've used movers from Bronx to Queens with two stops before and was only charged $300. To top it all of there was minor damage to every piece of furniture that was moved. I asked him to refund me just 15 minutes worth of time and he said no.Desired Settlement: $100

Review: On May * 2014 best moves inc came to help me and my fiancee move from our apartment to her mothers house. Before the job had started he had my fiancee sign a contract with the amount of the job which was $210 plus an additional $70 for each half hour gone over. The job was supposed to take 3 hours with 4 men. When the movers arrived there were only 3 men. The owner, Barry, did not help the other 2 movers move anything. He was in the van the entire time. The move from the apartment to the truck took 2 hours. Then on the way to the mothers house he decided to make a pit stop at a deli which made the move even longer. When he finally arrived at the house, he estimated that the move from the truck to the house would be another 2 hours. In total this is 5 hours which would be $350.00. His total came to $483. He said that there was travelling time included from Brooklyn to Staten Island. Then from the apartment to the house. The apartment to the house was 20 minutes. Then he included tolls. None of this is what he had told us previously to signing the contract. These were things he added on AFTER it was signed. He refused to move any of our stuff until he was paid. He only took cash. We had told him we wanted everything brought downstairs. He left everything in the living room. Again, he was in the truck while his 2 men carried everything. He also charged us for packing materials. Packing materials which were our home depot boxes that he just bent up to cover pieces. At the end of the move we tipped his 2 guys the rest we had. He then demanded a tip for all the hard work he did. I told him that I reviewed his company [redacted]. He told me all the negative reviews were from before he owned the company which he took over in 2011. These reviews were from 2013-2014. Even his crew had told us that he does this to people all the time and this wasnt the first time they had a move and this happened. While we were unpacking my entire door for my wall unit was shattered which he had "packed very securely." He sent us $20 for a BROKEN GLASS DOOR along with a very rude letter.Desired Settlement: I would like my wall unit door replaced for the amount of $150. I would also like the difference of the $133.00 since he decided to tack on prices after the fact.
