Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that the response would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. We do not feel that this resolves our complaint due to the fact that no where in the lease we signed does it mention utilities are paid months in arrears or that our utility bill is an average amount based on the whole building and not per individual unit. We feel we have been fair offering to pay for utilities we may or may not have used during the time we lived in our unit
Regards,

Williamsburg on the Wabash has been the worst living experience I have ever had to go throughOn January 19th, my roommate and I were asked to leave our apartment unit and move to a guest suite for renovationsThey said it would take business days, which would have put us back in our apartment on February 5thIt is now March 3rd and we have received an email saying that we cannot move back in until at least March 18thThey have been making us continue to pay rent, utilities, and our cable bill even though we have not been able to use any of those servicesThe management does not respond to emails or hold themselves accountable at allI have photos of my apartment completely destroyedThey have left the door unlocked over nightThey turn all of the lights on and leave them overnightThey have turned the heat up to degrees, and taken the plastic off our belongingsI am so devastated that some of my belongings are ruinedThey are extremely unprofessional

I have reviewed the complaint that has been submitted in reference to ID [redacted]. We have been in frequent...

communication with the customer regarding final utility bills and the issues stated. At this time we are at impasse and the customer is continually trying to have myself and other representatives of the company agree to remove legitimate charges. The lease agreement in question is a binding legal document. It clearly states they are required to have all utilities on until the lease end date which was July 31, 2015. The water bill is correct and all charges stand. The lease being used was from a previous management company and has been revised by our legal team, however it was no way incorrect. In the spirit of cooperation we removed a damage charge they where informed of which also included final utility charges. We appreciate our customers and understand why they feel they have an argument unfortunately they will need to pay the charges they are correct and rightfully due to Williamsburg On The Wabash.  Nicole N[redacted] | Property Manager| Williamsburg on the Wabash 400 N. Building 12 on my property has a fire alarm in it where when someone may burn something in their apartment, rather than just setting off their smoke alarm, it sets off all of apartments in that corridor.  The system is at code and working perfectly fine.  I find it hard to believe that...

[redacted] (the fire inspector) would say something along those lines.  I have been working very closely with her to find out what it is that can be done with the alarm.  It is tested every year by Koorsen’s and was installed by them as well.  They have also talked with the fire department about this.  I actually have a meeting set up to go to the fire station on the 15th to meet with them and see what our options are with it.  We definitely do not want our residents to be unhappy here.  We understand that it is a bit of a nuisance and we are doing my best to try and resolve this annoyance.  Please let me know if there is anything else that you may need from me.  Have a great night.

Sincerely,

I have lived at this apartment complex for more than a year, both in unrenovated and in renovated apartments. I would not wish this complex or its management on my worst enemies. Some of the reasons:

-Almost none of my interactions with the office staff have gone well. Exactly one of the people who has worked the front desk since I've lived here has seemed to have any idea what they're doing. That's not the fault of the front-desk staffers, but of the management, as they seem to receive little to no training on how to do their jobs, and have complained of such.

-The managerial team seem to have an incredibly inflated opinion of themselves and of their power, and are on the best days condescending and rude. Every time I was forced to speak with them (and they deigned to acknowledge my presence), I walked away wanting to take the hottest shower I possibly could. Their lackluster attitude makes it very difficult to get issues addressed in any sort of a timely manner, and even then they problems will only be addressed to the bare minimum possible

-They apparently do not actually clean the apartments between residents. Prior to actually moving into one of the units I lived in while at this complex (but after I was informed it had been cleaned), I found several insect carcasses on the floor. I reported this to the main office and was promised the apartment would be cleaned, but when I moved in a week later the apartment was untouched, and no effort was ever made on their part to make good on their promise.

-Insect infestations in several of the buildings. There were numerous problems with cockroaches across one building I lived in, and management seemed unwilling to do anything about it. Fortunately, roach motels and making certain I washed dishes immediately seemed to drive them away from my apartment-- I can only assume they went to my neighbors.

-Terrible upkeep afflicts many of the buildings, meaning all of the floors are creaky and rickety, most walls are painted poorly and at least one of the units I lived in had evidence of the front door being kicked in and the deadbolt replaced but not the damaged part of the frame. Furthermore, I had issues with getting my dishwasher repaired for more than two months after it broke. I must note that I do not believe this to be the fault of the maintenance personnel, who I found to be polite, incredibly competent, and oftentimes very willing to explain what was wrong and how to avoid it in the future. Again, the fault appears to be with management and their inability to actually get things done.

-Incredibly overpriced laundry machines that are often broken. Again, I don't blame the maintenance personnel for this, since the laundry machines are owned by an outside contractor. Said contractor, however, will charge you high prices even for West Lafayette just to wash your clothing

-The number of parking spaces is not sufficient for the number of parking slots guaranteed to residents, resulting in my often seeing multiple vehicles parked against the curb on the other side of the street with JUST enough room to pass or for a car to pull out of a slot if the driver managed to do so perfectly.

-The fitness center seems like it has almost zero airflow, and has cameras placed such that one cannot work out without being very aware they are being watched. The fitness center is significantly smaller than you are lead to believe during the signing part of the process, and had one of its two treadmills broken for more than six months by the time I left. The equipment there is also extremely basic, making one wonder why they even bothered.

-They are unwilling to be helpful even in a time of crisis. I heard multiple stories about people attempting to get a few days leniency on their rent because of some circumstance or another, and the management invariably was unwilling to work with these people at all. The management also seems somewhat dishonest, as in at least one case the online system told a resident they owed nothing, despite the rent accruing. When this was brought to the attention of the management, they were unwilling to strike any late charges, claiming that the online system is provided as a simple courtesy to the residents, and that the information thereon is unreliable.
