Very easy to work with when you get a loan, because they make money on that. Try to pay it off and get your title, well they don't care and don't have mechanisms in place to do it. After two days of working with Hughes and a member branch and around ten phone calls, I was told I can't get my title for ten days, even though they told us we could get it electronically in a few hours.

I will never use Hughes again, and I recommend others avoid them as well.

*** The first thing I want to say is thank you for being so very kind to me the couple of times we spoke.I really do appreciate it very much.
Secondly, I have decided that I don't want to deal with Hughes Federal Credit union any more then I have to.
As you had mentioned, I was turned down for the car loan I had requested but after we had a little talk and I explained how my wife and myself got into the position we were in (having to do with our sons death) you put me on hold to talk to the underwriters about our individual situation. You told me the underwriters wanted us to send in our 2 latest pay stubs, which I found odd considering we have have had out account for about 15 years and that both my wife and myself have had automatic deposit for years.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought a credit union was a place where you could conduct business on more of a personal level. Correct me again if I'm wrong but aren't the members stake holders meaning you work for us? Banks and Savings and Loans are the cold businesses where they look down their noses and decide if you measure up the their standards. You have been wonderful, but I have a real disdain for Hughes Federal Credit Union as a whole.
I truly wonder if anyone there has taken the time to read one of the form letters? You know, the ones where the credit union adds check marks pointing out why the answer was no and then continues to list as many reasons as there is room for? Very cold and uncaring. No where is there an encouraging word or two about how things are looking better n the past few months and maybe a little ways down the road they would re-consider you.The underwriters saw that we were not up to their standards, checked the appropriate boxes and out the form letter went.

HFCU is such a disappointment, you should consider becoming a Bank.
