Best Transmission, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: Last week I had my Transmission rebuilt or so it was said by [redacted] AAMCO, because my car was bucking when accelerated and even while breaking. The car issues I experienced would only occur after the car was in use over 30 minutes driving locally; otherwise it seemed to drive fine. I even drove it on the highway to AAMCO for service review. At my initial drop off of my car with the intake person he advised me that they will use HONDA parts from Hillside Honda.(not sure if they did) The AAMCO quote was much higher than I thought the work would cost. So prior to picking up and paying for my car I did some research and obtained the actual cost of a motor mount part from Honda that AAMCO put on my car, which actually costs $32.18, while AAMCO charged me $138.00. I presented the intake person with a Honda invoice; whereby he then had to lower the cost. I proceeded to express that I wanted to SEE ALL THE invoiced bills for numerous quoted charges/expected fees, for which he replied that his boss had taken them home. I had to pay my bill respectfully in order to get my car back. I am still in discussion with AAMCO to disclose this billing information, and they refuse. Am I within my legal rights to have this disclosed to me? I believe the quote to be extensive and overpriced. At present I am still having acceleration issues & my car is leaking Transmission Fluid, for which I am troubled by, and I only have the car back for a few days. Can you please help me navigate this process and to know my rights within the law? The car is under AAMCO warranty; however, I don’t have much faith in them on all accounts. Also are my old car parts mine or theirs? They claim theirs. Kindly advise. Thank you.Desired Settlement: This concern is for a billing Adjustment, a Change in Policy/Practice and Repair issues all wrapped into one. Is it the within the right of the consumer to request car parts, when failure to honor request to return parts? The intake person and [redacted] would not disclose complete pricing of all information of said replacement parts showing cost and actual receipts for said part replacement for my vehicle repairs. Furthermore, unauthorized changes to the original Bill Language after Honda part presented, and adjustment made to original Quote/Bill. Finally Inferior car repair-car was not leaking Transmission fluid prior to service and now it is, and the car is exhibiting some issues, as noted above. Also, is a repair shop allowed to charge tax for rebuilt parts for which they are not taxed on??

Am I within my rights of the Unfair and Deceptive Acts and Practices or UDAP statutes, which one would hope would provide bedrock protections for consumers? I am inclined to believe that it should be within a customer’s right to request and be able to see the bills attached to one’s quoted repairs, for said replacement parts. First to be sure said parts were in-fact purchased for said repairs and secondly to see the actual cost of said parts. I understand that AAMCO may have some mark up of parts; however, I am not in agreement of 3-4x's cost mark up, and then passed onto me the consumer. There should be a fair and reasonable practice regarding such charges; whereby documentation should be disclosed to the consumer, so that the Repair shop is not given extreme leeway, allowing them to avoid providing transparency of said parts under fair Practices or UDAP statutes. Therefore, I hope to have AAMCO consider my requests and adjust the bill to a fair and reasonable cost and properly repair my car without further issues because frankly now I do not trust this dealer. Furthermore; I have made my requests know that I prefer to have AAMCO in [redacted] repair and correct their diagnosed leaking of Transmission fluid on my car , which is under Warranty, since I now must use said warranty within only a week of said repairs. Thank you for your kind consideration and guidance in this sensitive matter. Sincerely, [redacted]

Response:

Dear [redacted]:

I am in receipt of [redacted]'s complaint filed against my business, AAMCO Transmissions, [redacted]. Please be advised that there were extensive discussions between myself and the complainant and my manger and the complainant. We quoted her a price that she agreed to and we performed the transmission work accordingly. After said work was performed, the complainant returned to my business to have the transmission's performance and leaks checked. At the conclusion of her follow-up visit, her car was in working order, as confirmed by the complainant in writing.

Since doing business with the complainant, I have received personal visits from her and writings from her making irrelevant requests and enclosing religious quotations. I do not understand why she is complaining. We performed the agreed upon repair and her car was in working order. As of this afternoon, I have been made aware that she may have a leak. If true, that, of course, will be covered under the warranty at no charge to her.

I take pride in the business I run and the satisfaction of my customers. We will continue to stand behind our warranty, if the complainant should have a legitimate problem. I am, unfortunately, of the belief that this complainant is looking to make money by making these unfounded accusations against myself and my business.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to respond.

Sincerely,

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

As you know my vehicle is still leaking transmission after it was examined by [redacted] of AAMCOQUE on 4/**/14 (AAMCO’S 10 Day check up point for leaks, whereby my leak was dismissed), and then I further had HONDA reviewed the leak as a courtesy to me a few days later (4/**/14) confirming that it still existed, just as I suspected. Contrary to [redacted] stating that all was well he has asked me to drop by on Wednesday 4/**/14 to check the car to see if fluids stable, and then will determine if the car continues to have said leak and if it is an emergency to his knowledge to be taken in for repairs on my visit Wednesday 4/**/14 (18 days from repair). He accessed the leak and confirmed it needs to be repaired. However, he states that it can wait till next week, and has scheduled me to drop it off on Tuesday 4/**/14, 5:50pm prior to closing, so that they can work on it Wednesday 4/**/14 and Thursday 5/*/14, keeping my car for 2 more days promising to fix all issues regarding this leaking matter, etc.. Therefore, he has stated that he has determined no present emergency or harm, and that it can wait for further said repair(s) until next Wednesday, which I am depending and putting my trust on his word and expertise regarding this matter that harm will not come. I still am standing my ground regarding all written Revdex.com correspondence and complaints. [redacted] has promised to provide a safe and proper repair of my ongoing leaking transmission issues that were not present upon the initial drop off of Transmission repair work (4/*/14). I trust you understand my dilemma and hope that this email provides a response within the 6-day timeline, and that this complaint will remain open until resolved to the best resolution possible considering the extensive questionable issues at hand. Kindly advise me if this is acceptable, as soon as feasibly possible. I expressed that the issue at hand was regarding his transmission workmanship/warranty that needed to be corrected to give me the customer peace of mind after 10 days of concern, which had all been noted in verbal and written correspondence on several occasions. However, [redacted] of AAMCOQUE’s sent me on my way 4/**/14, stating on his 2nd Invoice to me that the TRANSMISSION WAS OK on all counts; to clear himself of any harm/further review. (all parties have Pictures, etc). However, that remains to be seen. I am just seeking the financial/professional integrity and peace of mind. Thank you.

5/*/14 (Revdex.com RESPONSE Further Issues) Dear [redacted]: As you know [redacted] did have my car for two more days from 4/**/14-5/*/14, to drop the transmission again to diagnose the leak that took him 2 visits to verify, and my visit to Honda to further verify that my car was leaking transmission fluid. Therefore, I found it necessary to have my car reviewed by Honda once again to see that all is well, and it is not. I am now in the process of sending all my documented written invoices, correspondences, pictures, and receipts to AAMCO Headquarters to investigate all. I trust they will now seriously review this matter, so that we can remedy this troublesome issue without further harm or inconvenience to me the customer.

Response:

When [redacted] picked up her repaired 2002 honda on 5/*/2014 she agreed to call us regarding any future issues. She agreed also to return to us by 5/**/14 for a recheck. This recheck procedure was also detailed in my earlier Revdex.com response .To date she has done neither, but apparently has expressed an concern which may damage the work already done .Putting everything in perspective . We repaired her transmission for several thousand dollars less than two local honda dealers . We also repaired a minor leak under warranty ...at no charge. While [redacted] third Revdex.com letter seems to be rather unnecessary , as per our agreement she was to let us know about any issues and has done everything but contact us. We have been cooperative and professional throughout this entire transaction. But in order for this to work, [redacted] must work with us and keep her promises and appointments , as well.
