We received your complaint today from Mr. [redacted] with Case ID  #[redacted]. I am sorry that Mr. [redacted] has made the decision to waste your time and ours for a matter that has been explained to him that he somehow refuses to accept. The entire contention he has made in his claim is false. The part...

where he claimed his rate for two night was $75 is close to correct. His rate was $75.99 per night which was discounted to him as a courtesy from the $89.99 rate he booked.   He came to the desk wanting to know why he was charged $190. We explained to him that he was not charged $190. The rate for his room was $75.99 for two nights. This made the rate for the two night stay $151.98 plus tax. With taxes applied at 13.875% his total bill was $173.06. What he is claiming to be a $190 charge is the “authorization” that was made on his card. It was actually $188.26. This is merely an authorization and not a charge. Our software (as all hotel software does) automatically authorizes 20% more than the anticipated amount of a stay. We are full-service with a bar and restaurant and this opens those outlets to guests for charging to their room folios.   Once the guest checks out, any amount of the authorization that isn’t used falls off and is released. In his case an actual charge of $173.06 was made at check-out against that authorization and $15.20 was released at check-out. For regular credit cards guests never even see authorizations. Only with debit cards does it “freeze” the amount of the authorization until the transaction is closed and then it releases the unused portion. The length of time that takes is up to the card holders financial institution and we have no control over that. When Mr. [redacted] checked out it was released from our system at that time. We have huge signs at the check-in counter telling debit card users about this process and it is common knowledge that this happens with hotels, airlines and rental cars..   This was all explained to Mr. [redacted] multiple times but he either refuses or isn’t capable of understanding. The bottom line is he got exactly what he was promised which was a discounted rate from $89.99 down to $75.99 and that’s all he paid plus applicable taxes. He signed a registration card with the rate and the taxes clearly listed at the top of the registration form he signed. What is our thanks for offering this discount as a courtesy, a Revdex.com complaint.   This really is a very frivolous and dishonest case that has been filed. I have screen printed copies of his folio below showing his discounted rate, the taxes and the authorization that I referenced. It is utterly absurd that anyone would call the Revdex.com for something like this especially when the person lodging the claim is wrong, was given a generous discount and refuses to accept the patient and clear explanations repeatedly given to him.   Respectfully,   [redacted] General Manager BEST WESTERN PLUS Saddleback Inn and Conference Center Property #37078 p[redacted]@bwsaddleback.com  Direct : ###-###-####
