Regardless of [redacted]'s statements, a) he NEVER recommended concrete , b) he NEVER hung up on me, I hung up on him, c) I never called him back. (That statement doesn't even make any sense). Perhaps he is thinking about another dissatisfied customer he is dealing with. I do know that I provided pictures showing the poor job done by Bestcrete and am attaching additional pictures. It appears that [redacted] uses ranting and verbal insults in the hopes of detracting from the unsatisfactory work he does. He never addressed the poor work shown in the pictures nor the statements made in my 15 July response . As far as his statement that he had to use mortar to hold the wall in place because there were not enough stones, I am attaching a picture showing the job done on the wall and the fact that there are many stones available which he chose not to use. It was obviously much quicker and cheaper to use mortar than to repair the stone wall correctly. I am showing this only to prove that his statement is not only incorrect, but is disingenuous. Finally, I am NOT complaining about the stone wall. As stated in my earlier response, because of the lack of visibility, I was willing to live with the job, so long as the wall held. I am also providing a copy of the contract.

Review: Bestcrete Systems LLC was hired to reset all blue stone in our existing walkway and replace any broken stones and replace all pressure treated wood which framed one side of the walkway in summer 2013.Shortly after completion, we noticed that several broken stones had not been replaced and the stone filler and joints between the blue stones were cracking. After we called the company, a person came to replace the broken stones and also used a 'white substance' to fill in the gaps in the joints between the stones and cracks in the compound. After the winter, the substance between many of the stones was cracked or missing, some of the stones were raised thereby creating a hazard when walking and some of the wood framing, probably not installed deep enough was raised and coming out of the ground. Calls were made to business and when owner finally came over to review situation he stated that he could make the repairs in approx. 1 hr but could not come back until sometime at the end of May. He never come in May and did not return 2 phone calls to him in the first and second week in June. During the third week of June, I finally left a voice message stating that if I did not hear from him within 1 week I would take the appropriate action. He returned the last call and started screaming at me stating "how dare I threaten him". He stated that he would be at our home in a week to take care of the situation, and then started screaming again. I hung up on him. It is now July 11th and no one from the company has come to fix the walkway. I am looking to have my money returned from Bestcrete Systems LLC for unacceptable work since I will be forced to hire another mason to do the required work which will probably require resetting the the entire walkway.Desired Settlement: Refund of $2,300.00 plus applicable tax

Review: I hired Bestcrete Systems LLC to clean, repair and reseal my patterned concrete pool patio. The initial job was performed in September 2011 and was paid for in full. A rather long crack had to be filled in,recolored, and resealed. The resealing of the crack was not completed because of "weather/scheduling"!!! issues according to [redacted], the [redacted] who also did the job, but he assured me he would finish it in the spring. Multiple calls to Bestcrete in the Spring, Summer, and Fall of 2012 brought no results. Calls this year also brought no results. Finally, I sent [redacted] a letter giving him one more week to finish what would be a 20 minute job, but I had no response. Therefore, I had to contact the CT Consumer Protection Agency and the Revdex.com in hopes of getting some help to get this resolved. Totally unprofessional and unethical.

Product_Or_Service: Cleaning/repair/resealing of pool patio

Account_Number: No number on itDesired Settlement: Simply return and reseal the area not completed.

Business

Response:

Dear Revdex.com the job was done in the fall of 2011, and I went back a couple of times in 2012 to finish up a few remaining issues including the crack. [redacted] had me come back in the fall to fix

crack, but I could do much at the time because

he had me come there when the surface was wet. Not long after we had storm Sandy and I was involved in storm damage work thru May 2013. I was

stort handed after that and had to find time to go back to his home. (timing is important surface

must not be cold, hot or wet). I went away in

nid August to see my son out west and forgot to call [redacted].

I called him when I got back and went to fix crack, but couldn't do so because he had moisture issue with entire pool deck someone

else installed. I told him today that he would have to have us apply a solvent /sealer to burn out the white film on surface before filling crack

I plan on doing the resealing for a small cost prior to filling in crack middle of next week

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Contacted your office today because I have been unable to respond to email sent concerning "MESSAGE FROM BUSINESS". The person I spoke to read me the response, and though not an entirely accurate representation of the facts, the problem has now been resolved. Bestcrete came and resealed the pool patio concrete for $687.00 and fixed the crack! I am completely convinced that contacting your office and the Consumer Protection Agency led to finally getting the job completed after 2 years!

Thank you so much for helping me in this matter.

Sincerely,

Review: The "guaranteed" workmanship took on stain within a few weeks of completion. Inadequately sealed, and stain not removed.

This company was contracted to refinish and seal my older concrete porch. The work was done in May, 2013. We were told the finish was guaranteed for 1 yr. In June 2013 (within weeks of the job) a stain appeared on the porch after routine lawn maintenance. The contractor was arrogant, said we were lying about the stains and did not adequately deal with the problem. He eventually (in September) partially attempted to remove a portion of the stains, but did not complete this and then called us asking for more money. He hung up the phone on me after I indicated that I thought this should be part of the original (and expensive) price of the first job, as it was apparently not sealed adequately originally. Overall the job was poorly done, the contractor was arrogant, and he did not honor his guarantee. Desired Settlement: I want the job I paid for to be completed properly. This needs to be done after removal of the stains which resulted from inadequate sealing in the first place.

Dear Revdex.com as you can see from my past history, I have always been helpful to my customers. The job

we did for the Carpenters came out great when we did it in May 2013. In either late July or early August Mrs [redacted] called me and asked for my help regarding white spots she got on her front porch caused by lawn chemical company. She said she tried to wash them off but couldn't. I told her I would look at it. I came bye about a week later with another employee and we both thought it was deluted paint drops that got attacked to

sealed surface. We couldn't wash them off with

a cleaner. It seemed strange that 95% of the spots were near the house on the porch and not

at the front of the porch .It was over 10 feet

from where the lawn ended. If chemicals were put

down with a spreader the pellets would be

uniformly spread out. Most were on the left side of porch near house. Very strange.

When I reached Mrs [redacted], I told her what I thought, but to my surprise she became

very argumentive. I said to her that I am just

trying to figure out what material was so I can help her. She continued stating that it wasn't paint but mentioned several chemical that were

used by chemical company to put down an insecticide. I told her that if I couldn't get

them off that I could have to strip off sealer

to remove spots and that I would have to charge her to reseal surface. I was going on vacation and would check out problem when I got back.

This week I had to use a solvent twice on the

surface to get white spots off. I left a message

for Mrs [redacted] to call me. That evening Dr

[redacted] called me and I told him that it could cost $225 ($150 for sealer ,$25 for solvent and

$50 for labor) . I never communicated with him before, but before I could get a word in, he

became arguementive like his wife and wouldn't

let me say anything, so I hung up on him. How could he say I was arrogant? I never had a chance to talk. Here I am trying to help them out, because another compant messed up. I removed most

of the spots, but in so doing I had to strip

off the sealer. Just because there was sealer on surface doesn't mean nothing can adhere to surface. The sealer protected the subsurface with

the color. I have been doing this work for over

20 years and have had to remove all sorts of stains. I cleaned off most of the stains for nothing, but will not go back because of their attitudes and how Mr [redacted] thinks when writing up his comments. Maybe he should have washed off his porch before chemical had a chance to bond. The job was done correctly period.

Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2013/09/09) */

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

Bestcrete's response to our complaint is not accurate. In particular, whereas the contractor stated that the job came out fine, there were actually problems early on. The work was done in late May and included crack repair. In June we were away for a week during which time routine grub control pellets were applied to the lawn. The area in front of the house is angular and we have often gotten material sprayed from this application onto the front porch. In the past, even if it was left there, it dissolved away in a short time as it would on the walkway or driveway. In this case, when we returned from our trip, we could see the pellets on the porch but they were surrounded by a white residue. We swept away what remained and assumed that the spotting would disappear as it had in the past. But this did not happen. So with the persistence of these spots on the (supposedly well-sealed) porch we called the contractor in late July with concern about the sealing and attempted to get help in removing the spots. We also mentioned to him that the crack repair was not appropriate as it had returned. He said he would take a look.

Because the job on the front porch generated a lot of dirt, and was not very well cleaned up, we asked a painter to wash the house, which he did. He also planned to paint the columns on the front porch. Bestcrete came by when the painter's staging was in the front but before any painting was begun. The contractor jumped to the erroneous conclusion that the spots were paint. When he called my wife to tell her this, she attempted to explain to him the situation once again. He insisted it was paint, not letting her speak while he just kept repeating over and over again it was paint. Finally she had to raise her voice to stop his rant. He was unreasonable and essentially tried intimidate her. She reasoned that if he understood what the material was, he could have a better idea of how it could be fixed. She even tried to explain this fact to him but it was a very frustrating exchange.

Bestcrete came again to look at the porch, still convinced the spots were paint, and tried to remove some of them, but only lightened them somewhat. Contrary to his claim, I had spoken to him several times in the spring when we were initially discussing the job. On the evening in question, my wife asked me to talk to him because she found him too difficult to reason with. I called him and he immediately launched into me about "the paint" and how much he would charge us. We still had no idea what we were dealing with and if the spots would come off or if the porch had to be re-done. Again, there was no way to talk to him.

Apparently he has returned, and stripped the "sealer" leaving the spots, although now lighter. I don't understand how he claims that the sealer "protected the sub-surface with the color", if the material in question has penetrated the sub-surface. He also attempted to resurface the crack, which has not been successful either. Finally his work left discoloration over a paved walkway which he did not appropriately protect when he was working with solvents. At this point each encounter leaves things a bit worse so that the idea of the "year's guarantee" is more of sales point and a path down the road to further damage. Appropriate repair under the conditions agreed to in the contract has not been met.

The idea that "he couldn't get a word in" is ludicrous; moreso the reverse would be more accurate -- we had to raise our voices to be heard at all. Interestingly, after the fact, another contractor told us that he would not have done job in the same way. In general it was a sloppy job. Unfortunately we did not do our due diligence before we had Bestcrete do the work. We have never had a problem with a contractor, nor have we ever filed a complaint with the Revdex.com. We probably would not have this time either, if the contractor had not been so offensive. At this point we do not want him back on our property but leave the words: Caveat Emptor-Let the buyer beware.
