March 7, 2016Dear [redacted] ***Thank you for your letter dated Tuesday, March 1, regarding complaint filed by [redacted] ***-- Enclosed is most all of the conversation transcribed through [redacted] .com, the job broker that sent us the job.Details of this situation are not difficult; we were hired to move a piano, a sofa and a safe from Wilkes Barre, PA to Pocono Pines, PA, approximately milesThe piano and sofa were not a problem; [redacted] gave us accurate and honest descriptions of those two itemsWe knew what to expect and we moved them, no problem.***, unfortunately, was not honest about the safe(1) She described it as feet high(2) She further states that when it was delivered, "one strong person carried it in'#is factually wrong- the safe is much bigger #is obviously not possible nor trueTherein lies the problem-***'s honesty. In a later correspondence, [redacted] backtracked and said the safe is 4% feet, not But my guys who saw the safe(I did not), don't agree and have indicated that even this new description- 4% feet, is not accurate- that in reality the safe is full size- 5% to feet tall.So I sent [redacted] a note that before we go any further with this, I want three things:- a picture of the safe, -- - a picture of the stairwell landing and turn, cause the stairway isn't straight up- make/model/serial number so I can ascertain EXACTLY the dimensions and weight of this safe.Once I have those I will decide how to proceed[redacted] has not cooperated by sending the model number or serial number, as requested, and I will not send my guys miles without knowing EXACTLY what we are dealing with. There's a world of difference in method and safety precautions between a inch tall safe and some of the larger safes, especially when moving it up a stairway in a homeMy men could easily carry a inch tall safe upstairsThey wouldn't need a dolly for thatThey do need a dolly, and possibly a 4th manfor a larger safe.A few points:(1) the guys would have brought the heavy-safe dolly if ***'s description was honest. They didn't bring it 'cause based on her description, it was not necessary.(2) IF she had been honest at the start, the job quote for this move would not be $350; it wouldhave been closer to $450-$because of course, it costs more to move safely up a stairway, a 550-lb safe than a 200-lb safeHence my comment to [redacted] that 'she already got more than her money's worth', is every bit true.(3) IF I caused this dilemma I would send up the men at my own costBut that's not the caseThedilemma of this safe is ENTIRELY due to ***'s inaccurate or dishonest description.(3) IF the job was just down the block I would send over the guys at my own cost, with a dolly tomove itBut she's not down the blockShe's about miles away.(4) It is true that the guys left without the sofa cushions and piano bench, and they should not have but you know what? [redacted] and [redacted] were thereWhy didn't they say, "hey don't forget the bench', 'hey don't forget the cushions'I mean reallyThe bench and cushions are a non event.(5) [redacted] commented a few times that a dolly may not helpI asked her why she would say that and she did not answer backI suggested that if there's really some situation at the house where this safe will simply not go where she wants it then let's just roll it into the garage or basementShe 'knows' or thinks something that she's not saying.(6) I refer to ***s lack of honestyShe claims her initial description of the safe was just a "mistake'So you may wonder why I'm taking the leap of 'accusation' and here's the reason on the bid-request for ***'s [redacted] job she specifically says "there are no flights of stairs', and while she did eventually come clean on this, (there were steps on both ends of the move), I consider it her attempt to 'downplay' the difficulty of the move to receive lower bidsSeen it before. If a customer asks me for a quote to move an apartment but on arrival it turns out its a square foot house, well that creates a problemIf a customer says they have boxes but they really have boxes, that creates a problemAnd so it goes.***'s lack honesty caused this problemI'm willing to work with her and [redacted] to get the safe movedBut not at my expenseI've offered to send up guys and a dolly, at my cost, to move the safe upstairs but [redacted] refusedShe wants me to pick up the tab for the problem she caused- nervy I think. Finally, customer complained that I used pejorative', (not "pergarative') language, and I don't disagreeIt's the result of dealing with someone who created a dilemma and attempts to put the blame on others.Don't hesitate with any questions.Thank you, Joel S

March 7, 2016Dear [redacted]. Thank you for your letter dated Tuesday, March 1, 2016 regarding complaint filed by [redacted]. -- Enclosed is most all of the conversation transcribed through [redacted].com, the job broker that sent us the job.Details of this situation are not difficult; we were hired to...

move a piano, a sofa and a safe from Wilkes Barre, PA to Pocono Pines, PA, approximately 30 miles. The piano and sofa were not a problem; [redacted] gave us accurate and honest descriptions of those two items. We knew what to expect and we moved them, no problem.[redacted], unfortunately, was not honest about the safe. . (1) She described it as 3.3 feet high. (2) She further states that when it was delivered, "one strong person carried it in'. #1 is factually wrong- the safe is much bigger #2 is obviously not possible nor true. Therein lies the problem-[redacted]'s honesty. In a later correspondence, [redacted] backtracked and said the safe is 4% feet, not 3.3. But my guys who saw the safe. (I did not), don't agree and have indicated that even this new description- 4% feet, is not accurate- that in reality the safe is full size- 5% to 6 feet tall.So I sent [redacted] a note that before we go any further with this, I want three things:- a picture of the safe, -- - a picture of the stairwell landing and turn, cause the stairway isn't straight up. - make/model/serial number so I can ascertain EXACTLY the dimensions and weight of this safe.Once I have those I will decide how to proceed.[redacted] has not cooperated by sending the model number or serial number, as requested, and I will not send my guys 30 miles without knowing EXACTLY what we are dealing with. There's a world of difference in method and safety precautions between a 40 inch tall safe and some of the larger safes, especially when moving it up a stairway in a home. My 3 men could easily carry a 40 inch tall safe upstairs. They wouldn't need a dolly for that. They do need a dolly, and possibly a 4th manfor a larger safe.A few points:(1) the guys would have brought the heavy-safe dolly if [redacted]'s description was honest. They didn't bring it 'cause based on her description, it was not necessary.(2) IF she had been honest at the start, the job quote for this move would not be $350; it wouldhave been closer to $450-$500 because of course, it costs more to move safely up a stairway, a 550-600 lb safe than a 200-300 lb safe. Hence my comment to [redacted] that 'she already got more than her money's worth', is every bit true.(3) IF I caused this dilemma I would send up the men at my own cost. But that's not the case. Thedilemma of this safe is ENTIRELY due to [redacted]'s inaccurate or dishonest description.(3) IF the job was just down the block I would send over the guys at my own cost, with a dolly tomove it. But she's not down the block. She's about 30 miles away.(4) It is true that the guys left without the sofa cushions and piano bench, and they should not have but you know what? [redacted] and [redacted] were there. Why didn't they say, "hey don't forget the bench', 'hey don't forget the cushions'. I mean really. The bench and cushions are a non event.(5) [redacted] commented a few times that a dolly may not help. I asked her why she would say that and she did not answer back. I suggested that if there's really some situation at the house where this safe will simply not go where she wants it then let's just roll it into the garage or basement. She 'knows' or thinks something that she's not saying.(6) I refer to [redacted]s lack of honesty. She claims her initial description of the safe was just a "mistake'. So you may wonder why I'm taking the leap of 'accusation' and here's the reason on the bid-request for [redacted]'s [redacted] job she specifically says "there are no flights of stairs', and while she did eventually come clean on this, (there were steps on both ends of the move), I consider it her attempt to 'downplay' the difficulty of the move to receive lower bids. Seen it before. If a customer asks me for a quote to move an apartment but on arrival it turns out its a 5000 square foot house, well that creates a problem. If a customer says they have 100 boxes but they really have 200 boxes, that creates a problem. And so it goes.[redacted]'s lack honesty caused this problem. I'm willing to work with her and [redacted] to get the safe moved. But not at my expense. I've offered to send up 4 guys and a dolly, at my cost, to move the safe upstairs but [redacted] refused. She wants me to pick up the tab for the problem she caused- nervy I think. Finally, customer complained that I used pejorative', (not "pergarative') language, and I don't disagree. It's the result of dealing with someone who created a dilemma and attempts to put the blame on others.Don't hesitate with any questions.Thank you, Joel S.
