Review: On the date of service 3/**/2010 I paid $350 at the time of my visit for a doctors appointment. However, the actual cost for the services rendered according to the claim sent to my insurance (Service Code [redacted]) was for $300. I have documentation of the check given to the office. For four years I have been trying to get the refund for $50.00 issued to correct the billing error. I have spoken to many office managers and workers in accounting - so many that they have come and gone and no longer work there. Every time I try to pursue this refund, they tell me they're looking into it and never call back again. Nor do they respond to my phone calls or messages. I've been in contact with 7 representatives at Beth Israel and can provide their names and phone numbers. I have been asked multiple times to fax over my Explanation of Benefits and check showing the amount paid. However, even after confirmation of receiving it, I never hear back. They have told me they are "sending" the check multiple times. However, it's been four years, and I still have no gotten a call back or received it. I would like my refund processed ASAP.Desired Settlement: I would like my $50 refund check processed as soon as possible to resolve this outstanding credit due for fraudulent billing.

Review: Beth Israel owes me $42.29 and they refuse to pay. After initially paying a claim, my insurance company ([redacted]) increased the amount they approved for medical services I received and sent Beth Israel additional funds. This created a credit balance of $42.29 in my favor. I've been calling and dealing with their billing department for over six (6) months. Their answer is always "it will take 4 to 6 weeks" to issue a refund. So far there have been two (2) 4 to 6 week periods and its now been nine (9) weeks since their last promise to pay me what I'm owed.Desired Settlement: Their responsible to pay all 'accounts payables' in a timely manner. They are intentionally withholding money due me without any reasonable explanation.

Review: Following an optometrist appointment at [redacted], at which I used my insurance and paid a higher-than-expected co-pay, I received a bill from [redacted] Beth Israel and [redacted]. As it had just been a routine exam without any additional tests or expenses, I called their Department of Professional Billing (###-###-####) to see why I was being charged. The women who answered said that the bill had been a mistake, and that I had actually been overcharged $30.00. This initial call took place the last week of May 2014, and I've since called approximately 5 times to follow-up. The issue has yet to be resolved, and every time I call I'm told that there's nothing they can do about it. I've been told that a woman named [redacted] is in charge (ex. [redacted]) but she's never answered her line or returned my calls. Today, I was told to fax the refund department—because the receptionist isn't "allowed" to give our their phone number—at ###-###-####. However, she couldn't tell me who to attn: the fax to or what information I should provide, other than my account number.Desired Settlement: Ideally, I'd like their process to become more transparent. In this situation, however, I would settle for a refund of the $30.00 they owe me along with a form stating that their original bill was incorrect. I take my credit vey seriously, and the idea that an outstanding bill is on my record—as I have yet to receive any documentation stating otherwise—is unnerving.

Review: I had been billed incorrectly for services I never had in March of 2013. I called the billing department at the number that is provided for billing to dispute and tried to resolve the issue since receiving bills in June 2013. I was assured that it was being looked into. I must have called at least 12 times, if not more to try to resolve the issue each time being told that they were trying to resolve the issue. I inquired to make sure that this would NOT be sent to collections since it was their mistake and they had said it would not since there were notes to show that I had been disputing the charges and it had not yet been resolved. I then received a letter from collections on 8/**/2013. I spoke to the manager [redacted] numerous times as well who assured me that my case was being handled. I had then spoken to the manager in the office I had gone to who had looked into the case and found that indeed I was billed incorrectly, that they also tried to bill a different insurance and that the fault was with them. She also assured me that at the least it would be taken out of collections by last week and following up with insurance this had never been done.Desired Settlement: At this time I would like a letter from Beth Israel admitting fault in this matter. I need my account to be taken out of collections IMMEDIATELY. I also need a letter from Beth Israel that would explain the situation that it had been a mistake on the part of Beth Israel to the three credit bureau's in case there is anything on my reports showing any kind of collection agency negative marks. It is unfair that my very good credit be hurt by a mistake that was made by Beth Israel especially since I had done everything on my part to try to resolve the issue. The individuals who work in the billing department should be reviewed as it does not seem that anyone is willing to help with the issues at hand. Very poor service for such an institution.

Sincerely,

Review: I had an appoint in January with a [redacted]. I came in for a normal checkup which is covered by my insurance and was sent to do [redacted] for no given reason. Was smacked with two bills, one from the lab and one for services rendered although checkups are free. I called in and found out that I was billed incorrectly. I came in recovering from [redacted] and it was evident in my voice. This condition is recurring, it happens once to twice a year, I'm used to it. I was hoarse and he asked me about my well being. I told him exactly that, I was recovering from [redacted], I'm fine now. I'm just here for a checkup. I did not need assistance with my [redacted] and it was a coincidence that I had an appointment around the time that I was recovering. The worst part of the storm was over, I don't need your help. I had my appointment set for a month and some change. Fast forward 8 months later I'm still battling getting these charges billed accordingly. The [redacted] supervisor working in billing, negligent and lazy. I called 7 times and only spoke to her 3 times. I'm not going back and forth with her anymore. They sent the bill to a collection agency. I will fight this tooth and nail like I said I would over the phone. I told her to have the doctor call me twice. According to him, he would rectify this. This was in April. He called me at that point to tell me I missed my appointment but now he's too busy to call. I missed my appoint because I did not want to come in again and pay him for services to not receive a thing.Desired Settlement: I want this to be billed correctly, at the correct tier so that it may process through my insurance especially since it's about to expire soon. I should ONLY have been charged for a SCHEDULED routine checkup which is covered by my insurance. I should never have seen a bill for services. Only a bill from the laboratory. I'm sick of this back and forth. This needs to be handled.

Sincerely,

Review: I came into the Beth and Israel Medical Center in Brooklyn on June **. I have a condition in which due to medications my immune systems is suppressed and therefore I cannot be in contact with sick people. In the emergency room the rude attendant took in my information such as ID and insurance card, then a nurse and a EMT student saw me. The EMT student checked my vitals, and they attempted to take me inside the emergency room. When I came inside there was no bed for me to lay, only a chair next to a dirty bed left by a previous patient. They positioned me in the hallway as they had no more rooms. No one gave me attention, or provided ANY services. I did not see a physician or technician. I left the emergency room as I was worried of catching something worse due to my suppressed immune system and lack of proper environment (i.e. a contained room). Before leaving I asked the rude person at check in if I needed anything from them. She said I did not need as I was leaving WITHOUT treatment. Now, I see a claim to my insurance in the amount of $1200. I called their billing department and asked about it, and "[redacted]" who assisted me on the phone said this is the "basic fee" for walking into the emergency room. I cannot understand how they can charge $1200 when NO services at all were provided. She said it is a processing fee. This cannot be even legal, to charge $1200 for "processing" a patient into the system and then not providing any treatment.Desired Settlement: I want them to review my account, and dismiss this outrageous charge to my insurance and myself. I did not receive any service.

Review: On April **, 2014 I had a [redacted] at Beth Israel [redacted] and sent the payment of $564.59 to their [redacted] address, when billed, on Oct *, 2014. Subsequently, my Insurance [redacted] agreed to reimburse the provider on 10/**/14 and apparently did so on12/**/14. Beth Israel acknowledges in several phone calls (10/**/14, 12/**/14, 1/**/15, 3/**/15, 4,**/15, 5/*/15.and 5/**/15) over the last 5 months that they have received a double payment and that I am entitled to a refund of $512.21. Despite promises to "process immediately" and "escalate the issue" I have not received their check. Nine days ago I told them that if it was not received by 5/**/15 I would contact Revdex.com. After five months of reassurances, I am now convinced that Beth Israel has no intention of returning this overpayment. Can you help? Thank you.Desired Settlement: Beth Israel to send check in my name and to my address in the amount of $512.21 without any more delay.

Sincerely,

Review: I went to Beth Israel for hand surgery in July 2012. After my insurance company paid $2,000 I was left with a more than $3,500 balance. I arranged to pay it off in full at a rate of at least $300 a month. Every month I paid the bill that came in the mail. In January, I did not receive a bill, so I called Beth Israel and asked where I should mail my regular check. They told me to make it out to [redacted] and send it to the usual address. I sent it in, and it cleared, but I did not receive credit for that payment. I have called the customer service department six times in the last few months. Both [redacted] and [redacted] in that office have been very friendly and each time they have told me the other office just needs to post the payment, and so three times they have told me to mail the canceled check, which I have done. The third time, at their suggestion, I marked it, "THIRD REQUEST." I just got a bill, again, for $300. I just called again and [redacted] suggested I send the bill a fourth time, by fax. But this has now been going on for seven months and I feel like it's my part-time job.Desired Settlement: I just want them to please stop sending me bills, because I have paid the balance.

Review: I have been a patient at BIMC for 7 years. Since leaving my old job 3 years ago I updated BIMC promptly with my new insurance information, and yet they continually send me bills for health care that they have submitted to my OLD insurance company. I have spoken on the phone with their billing department multiple times and corrected my information online as well, and each time they assure me they will correct the error, but they do not.Desired Settlement: I require confirmation that my billing information has been updated in all of their systems and that I will receive no further bills for claims that they have submitted to the incorrect insurance provider. An apology would be nice, too.

Review: My son, [redacted], had fever on 03/11/2013 night. We took him to Beth Israel Hospital in [redacted]. We waited for 3 hours in the waiting room. During which, a nurse came and took his temperature. In the end, [redacted] was given 5ml of TYLENOL and discharged. I do not see how the process justified a $1,100 bill. Neither did I authorized any service at that price.Desired Settlement: I am shocked that the hospital is asking $1,100 given that we have already been billed by the doctor separately. Are we being charged for waiting in the waiting room for 3 hours? I talked to the hospital billing department already ([redacted]) and they could not provide any explanation or adjust the bill. I, hereby, request the hospital to provide evidences that justify the charge. I am happy to work with them if they are willing to make bill adjustments.
