We are responding to a letter we received regarding ID number [redacted]. [redacted] brought his 2000 Mercedes ML430 on 11/07/13 for leaking coolant. After testing vehicle we found a leaking water pump. We replaced water pump and after replacing part found no other water leaks. Somewhere around...

11-24-2013 [redacted] said his coolant light was on in vehicle. We brought vehicle in the shop and found no water leaks. In the next few months [redacted] complained about the coolant light being on in his vehicle but we found no leaks in vehicle. We even put die inside system to trace the leak and still found no coolant leaks. Sometime around June 2014 [redacted] brought his vehicle back in with the coolant warning light on. We then found a leaking pipe which is a different component then water pump. [redacted] refused to pay for the pipe and we waived the fee as a courtesy. The funnything is that if this was a major issue [redacted] wouldn't be able to leave his neighborhood in the morning without vehicle over heating. This has been an ongoing issue and we can only fix what we see is wrong and it was never the water pump leaking again after we replaced it back in 11-2013. [redacted] has asked us to replace water pump under warranty but the pump isn't leaking. We only change parts under warranty that are defective. Our conclusion is that there is no way [redacted] would be able to put over 4,000 on his vehicle with a bad waterpump.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
As stated in my complaint filed on October 29,2014, I went to Bethany Auto on 11/07/2013 solelyfor one reason: the engine coolant level warning lamp in my car came ON. Themechanics [redacted] checked and told me that the coolant level warning lamp was ONbecause the coolant is leaking and my water pump has problem. He advised me toreplace with a new water pump: parts and labor at $584.09.  After replacement of new water pump, I went backtwice because the coolant is still leaking. [redacted] told me that he could not findthe leak. On the 2nd time, he added dye into the coolant. Please see Exhibit 1and Exhibit 2 which clearly demonstrate that coolant is still leaking to mydriveway as of today. If the water pump was not the root-cause forcoolant level warning lamp, why did [redacted] replace my water pump? After the waterpump replacement, I went back twice and [redacted] never mentioned this different component. If a different component is the root-cause, what is this component? Why did [redacted]replace my water pump instead of this component? I could drive in my neighborhood for the last 5months or put more than 4,000 miles on the car because I constantly addedcoolant into my car to prevent engine over-heating when my engine coolant levelwarning lamp turned ON. Please see Exhibit 3. The statement "replaced a different pipe whichwas leaking and waived that fee as a courtesy" is bogus. At the end of my 2ndreturn for leak, I asked [redacted]: "Did you find the leak?" He replied:"No". I asked [redacted]: "Then what did you do?" He replied:"I replaced a pipe." [redacted] then wanted to charge me another $75. I declinedto pay for two reasons: 1.      [redacted] did not talk to me or get my permission beforehe replaced this pipe.2.      Why did [redacted] replace this pipe if he could not findany leak from this pipe? Above all, the coolant is still leaking after [redacted]'s replacementwith this pipe.  Afterwards, [redacted] rudely threw my car keyon the table back to me.
Regards,
[redacted]
