This message is in response to the complaint from *** ***In when Mr*** was in for an eye exam, he had Vision Insurance through *** *** Care Community PlanMr*** had a Comprehensive exam for health, glasses and contact lensesThe fees reflected those
services$for the Health evaluation and Eyeglasses, and $for the contact lens evaluationThis insurance covered the contact lens evaluation as well as a portion of the contacts.The following year in 2016, the patient had a Comprehensive exam and did not want contacts at that time so he wasn't charged the contact lens evaluation fee.The current exam Mr*** had this past October, consisted of the Comprehensive eye exam as well as the patient wanting to order contactsThe fees reflected the services provided$for the eye exam and $for the contact lens evaluation feeThe patient had switched insurances to MedicareThis insurance does not cover any of the contact lens feesIt is out of pocket for the patient.When Mr*** called in about fees, the last exam was looked up and didn't reflect the contact lens evaluation fee and so he was quoted the fees he was responsible for with his new insuranceUntil the patient came in for his exam, we were unaware he wanted to order new contact lenses, which consisted of the contact lens evaluation fee.We apologize for the miscommunication of this matterAs a result, we are willing to split the fee with Mr*** by sending him a check for $Mr*** should be aware that the contact lens evaluation fee will be a part of his future eye exams when he wants to order contact lenses.Thank you,Rick m***, L.D.O.Office Manager
