I am writing this letter as a response to the case being reopened with your organization under ID #*** by *** ***.Services were provided for *** *** on 11-8-as was discussed in the previously provided letter that was submitted to the Revdex.com within the time requested by your organizationIn this letter, clear clarification is shown, best describing the circumstances surrounding the fees for services rendered for *** ***As was previously documented, on the day of treatment, *** *** was indeed charged correctly for the services that she and *** *** consented toAll dental care Completed for *** ***, was discussed with her prior to this visitShe and her prior dentist were both well informed of the care that would be provided during this dental visitIt is my opinion that the nature of this dispute is of a financial nature rather than one of treatment appropriatenessWe have carried Ourselves in the most professional, Courteous mannerPlease consider the noted anger and negative emotion clearly documented in *** ***'s emails, received by our practice, as we merely attempted to answer her questions and welcome her as a new patientThis anger as she stated, was initially based on her misunderstanding about who we are and what we doIt is this same kind of anger that is unfortunately getting in the way of her rational respect for the excellent care provided for her here.Thank you in advance for your consideration concerning this issue, if you need any additional information, please doesn't hesitate to Contact me via email at sleep (abethesdasedationdentistry.com or by phone at ***.Best regards,Deborah K***, DDS

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: From: [redacted] aka[redacted]<[redacted]@[redacted].com>Date: Fri, Mar 10, 2017 at 11:37 PMSubject: Re: no responsethank you for sending the december letter to me. this is the first time I have seen it. it was not delivered to me before now for whatever reason.dr. k[redacted]'s letter is very well-written--as well as very creative. she has taken the circumstances and changed them considerably. I am interested to read her version of the events that transpired.yes, I did get upset and got off the phone quickly, but that phone call was not with her, I was speaking with her husband, the other dentist of the practice. I have an extremely rare genetic condition that is considered a hassle by lots of doctors. they just don't think the money they could make from treating me is enough to warrant their time spent in learning how to deal with my condition to avoid causing new problems. he wrote me a letter and I accepted his apology, and then agreed to go to his office. I was very much afraid of undergoing a root canal while awake.when I arrived at the practice I learned he was handing me off to his wife for care. while we were there I accepted responsibility for payment and we (her billing rep & myself, plus the lady dentist) agreed to have them deal directly with my regular dentist, and I transferred, essentially, power of attorney to my regular dentist, dr. evelyn p[redacted], to discuss my plan of treatment and any costs thereof. I spoke to dr. evelyn after she conferred with someone at bethesda sedation dentistry. dr. evelyn told me she was under the impression that they had agreed with her there was enough in the $4000-plus number to cover the procedure and the physical crown, which would then be mailed to dr. evelyn, and she would set it into place. there was never any discussion of prices being different because of location either with dr. evelyn or with me. if the job were worth more in bethesda, md than in bristow, va. it seems like that would have been pointed out before rather than after.on the day of the procedure we arrived the billing lady was in the room with me and the dentist. I stated that they had spoken with dr. evelyn and made verbal agreement to take the crown impression and send the molded crown to dr. evelyn when it arrived at their office some weeks after the procedure, included in the already-paid price. rocky said the actual cap was not included in the charge. I stood my ground, insisting that they had agreed with dr. evelyn to do the full job for the amount already charged me. they were not happy, but finally acquiesced, apparently, and told me ''not to worry, just to get the job done'' because I was in pain. it was while I was under the anesthesia that rocky took the additional money from my husband. she did it behind my back, while he was under duress about the procedure I was undergoing. this was grossly unethical. i was not told they were going to get more money either before or after the procedure. I woke up and left without learning they had taken money from him. my husband mentioned the additional charges to me later.in addition, the job done on my root canal was definitely NOT A-grade work. my nerve has been damaged in my jaw. I still have numbness in my lip and a sensation that my chin is wet most of the time. I still have pain associated with that tooth which is supposed to have no nerve tissue in it.  there has continued to be a dark spot on the x-rays of the root area which should have improved with the root canal. dr. evelyn has x-rayed it twice, with the most recent view taken on february 6th. I have been thru several rounds of antibiotiics with this problem and we are watching it, hoping the pain and numbness, as well as the dark spot on the x-ray, will slowly subside. this is/was the decision by my dentist, dr. evelyn. I have not complained to dr. k[redacted] of my ongoing problems with her work because I am not comfortable with her performance.the persons at bethesda sedation dentistry took advantage of my husband while they had me under anesthesia. they should not have taken money from him. I paid for my own procedure before. I allowed them to do the work because I understood their agreement with the charges at that point. during our previous conversations they had insisted that all charges be paid up-front. I had no reason to believe they would extend credit to me when I agreed to go under their anesthesia. i wonder how many times this practice has done the same thing to other unsuspecting couples. we went to them because we heard the advertising on a particular radio station by a particular air personality we thought a lot of.  now we won't trust such endorsements again. please enter this into the Revdex.com record.sincerely yours,[redacted]

The Revdex.com 1411 K Street, NW 10th Floor Washington, DC 20005-3404 I am writing this letter as a response to a complaint about my business filed with your organization under the ID#: [redacted]. According to the information contained in this complaint, my business, known as Bethesda...

Sedation Dentistry, incorrectly disseminated information with customer [redacted] on 11-8-16. Per this complaint, the customer’s existing dentist and the customer herself both were disputing the fees charged for the level and quality of care completed in my dental practice. My dental practice cares for dentally and medically complex patients, which [redacted] is appropriately considered. Numerous conversations were had with [redacted] regarding the fees that we charge, the nature of our practice, and how all of this pertains to the care we deliver. There were never any hidden, covert or misrepresented fees whatsoever. After conversing with [redacted] at an initial patient visit, it was requested that I complete the IV sedation and the root canal procedure. It was requested by [redacted] that I allow her current dentist to be the one to “complete her permanent filling.” It was at this time that I clearly and concisely notified [redacted] with a written treatment plan that the fee quoted was only for the IV sedation and for the root canal. It did not include the fee for the crown. She requested that I converse with her current dentist on her behalf, asking, “if the permanent crown were completed in my office while she were under IV sedation, could she (her current dentist) cement the permanent crown.” After receiving confirmation from her current dentist that this could be done, [redacted] was presented with the additional fee for the crown procedure. It was only after receiving this additional information, containing the additional fee, that she stated she would clearly accept the additional fee for the crown procedure. She confirmed this with my assistant as well as my office manager. From the information contained in the customer statement portion of your letter, it is obvious that the customer and her dentist were in agreement that the fees proposed, were within range of fees typical for her practice in Burke, VA. However, after personally speaking to the patient’s current dentist on two occasions, I was told that she understands that I care for complex patients in a “very different area.” She also stated that her practice was quite “insurance dependent,” further clarifying the perceptively vast difference in fees charged between our two dental practices. Based on email correspondence from the patient prior to this dental procedure, where fees were accrued, [redacted] was seemingly expecting to be displeased from our initial interaction, no matter how she was interacted with. During her initial phone conversation, after she explained her medical condition to me, and that she can’t find a dentist who understands her or anyone who is able to help her, and while I was in the midst of explaining to her that I have numerous patients in my practice just like her, she hung up on me. In a follow up email exchange, she admitted to misunderstanding my intentions, and proceeded to thank me for my follow up, care and consideration. As a small business, in a community of other small businesses, our reputation stands on our ability to complete complicated care, often on complex patients, at fees that are not comparable to most other typical dental practices. I will share with you that the fees charged in my office, are very consistent with those billed by other similar practices, with the capabilities that we have. If [redacted], or if her current dentist were to investigate my disputed fees, they will quickly realize that they are much in line. It has never been my intention to do anything other than help [redacted] with her most important dental care. Unfortunately, after receiving agreement from her to complete the care, she is portraying herself after the fact, as dissatisfied with the fees charged. Because my practice performs at the highest level, completing involved care on often dentally and medically challenging patients, we are excessively transparent about all obligations including those of a financial nature. As a consolation for this unfortunate circumstance, we will, despite full verbal agreement from her husband to fund the additional expense, agree to transfer the fee for this crown from the payment arrangement made with him, to one that [redacted] is more amenable to. We will agree to offer an additional period of time (ninety days) for Mrs. Allredge to cover the expense for the procedure she gave us permission to complete. Please review this letter and take all the information into consideration. If you need any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me via email at [email protected] or by phone at [redacted]. Thank you for your time, Deborah K[redacted], DDS Bethesda Sedation Dentistry
