File this under "no good deed goes unpunished."In October 2014, this patient was referred to me by an endodontistHe had just completed a root canal on a front tooth, and this and other broken down front teeth required immediate attention.Even though he mentioned there were financial
considerations, he was confident we could formulate a plan that would address the short term esthetic needs and be flexible enough to accomodate her financesAnd so, on Oct * we placed a post and temporary crown on her upper left central (tooth #9) We ALSO took impressions to make a lab processed acrylic temp consisting of teeth 7,8,9, This way, the patient would have an esthetic provisonal that would be easy for the endodontist to remove, and strong enough to survive many months until the permanent ones could be fabricatedWhen she left on the ***, she paid 3/of her bill for the work on #She said that's all she had on her, but would pay the balance of #AND the subsequent provisional at her next visitHowever, she never showed up to her next visitAs for another dentist commenting on the descrapncy of the fees, the bottom line total for the temps was correctRead her complaint: She doesn't dispute my treatmentRather, she blames me for sending out the case without receiving payment (excuse me for trusting her!) and blames the cessation of her appropriate meds for being susceptible to my suggestions., Even if that were the case, why didn't she pay for the completed work on #9? In conclusion, this incident won't cause me to lose faith in humanity!
