Bethpage Federal Credit Union Reviews (35)

Review: First let me say, I do not want to put this complaint in but I am left out of options. I had an auto loan with bethpage that was paid and closed in 2008 when we traded it in. It was never late and I have never ever had any issues with them. They are a wonderful company and I am only filing complaint so its gets to right person that can assist me. I havent had any issues in years and this loan is due to fall off my credit reports in march of this year. I just had credit pulled for a mortgage and it is now showing late payments. There was never any late payments. I tried to dispute with credit bureaus and they are still working on it. I did go to branch and I called and emailed and even used the contact us forms to get help direct from Bethpage. No one was able to find the account or any info about me in the system and they will not allow me to speak with the dispute dept since they cant pull up an account. [redacted] on the phone stated that if they cant pull up account there is no longer a record of it and they can not possibly be verifing any info to credit bureaus. I would really like the late payments corrected or the account deleted one month earlier so I can get my mortgage approved. These false late payments are stopping us and we will loose out on a home we are trying to get. I would appreciate any assistance I can get with this matter.Desired Settlement: I would like a letter sent to me telling me the outcome as well as the results told to me through the Revdex.com. Also I would like the credit bureaus to be notified to fix errors or to remove the account one month early.

Dear [redacted], Your correspondence addressed to the Revdex.com was received by Bethpage Federal Credit Union. I appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns and resolve your complaint. Your mortgage loan was funded on 2/**/2015. On 3/**/2015 we were notified your policy with Narragansett Bay Insurance was cancelled. We mailed a letter to you requesting updated insurance; this letter also advised that forced placed insurance would be applied if a new policy was not provided. A new policy was not provided and forced insurance was placed on the mortgage account. In addition, on 6/**/2015 we received notification from NYC advising that your Finance Exemption was revoked for April 2015 through July 2015; your taxes were re-analyzed and the new tax amount was applied. This has contributed to the increase in your monthly mortgage payments. In reference to mortgage payment options, we allow for payments to be made online (through transfer or a Bill Pay service), over the phone or by mail. We also set up pre-authorized payments from a Bethpage account or from another financial institution. Mortgage payments have a due date of the [redacted] of the month and the grace period ends on the [redacted] of the month before a late fee is assessed. I appreciate the opportunity to review your concerns and hope this letter explains Bethpage Federal Credit Union’s efforts and actions. Regards, Kelly D[redacted]Bethpage Federal Credit Union

Review: BFCU has changed the address for their "Deposit By Mail" service and never notified any of their members. Needless to say when sending a "Deposit By Mail" it went to the OLD address and now they are saying my deposit is lost in the mail and cannot be found. This is clearly a violation of their fiduciary trust to look after my money that was sent to their Corporate Office at [redacted], [redacted]. Their representatives have told me on (3) occasions that they would look into the matter and get back to me. NO ONE has contacted me back. I will also be filing a formal complaint with the [redacted] regarding their lack of responsibility to protect my money.Desired Settlement: BFCU should pay the $30.00 fee to have [redacted] stop payment on the Money Order that was lost and also the fee to have a stop payment for the personal check that was also lost.

Review: As of December 2014 I have called and emailed Bethpage Federal Credit Union about a judgment on credit report. Asked if the judgment is valid and if still not paid want to get information to rectify. Did send them copy of credit report as requested so they could investigate. I have not received any paperwork back from them.Desired Settlement: If they cannot produce paperwork that balance is still owed, then I want judgment removed from credit report and the court system.

Sincerely,

Review: Bethpage FCU closed my 30+ year savings and money market account with no warning, transferring remaining funds to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is true that I have not had transactions with BFCU with many years, so I understand their right to close the account. However, they marked it, according to the rep on the phone, as 'Abandoned', which is not true. In any event, they should have made several attempts to contact me, which they did not, or somewhere mark on the monthly statements, which they have been sending, that the account will be closed if no further transactions occur. I looked at the last 12 months or so of statements and there is no indication of impending action. Also, since I have been receiving the statements, they clearly have not been returned as undeliverable, so at the very least, if they desired to close the account, they could have sent me a check instead of just dumping it into the unclaimed property pool in Pennsylvania. The rep I talked to on the phone was not the least bit helpful and was not even willing to pass my call to a [redacted].Desired Settlement: BFCU claims that they can not recover the funds, which I do not believe to be true. Upon contacting the Pa. unclaimed property department, they are not able to confirm that they have received the funds from BFCU, and if they do, I will not be able to make the claim for at least a couple months. I would like BFCU to recover the funds and send me a check. I do not want the account restored as I no longer would do business with them anyway.

Review: My 2014 Honda Odyssey was totaled in December 2014. [redacted] requested a payoff letter from Bethpage which took them almost a month to received. Bethpage sent the letter with the amount that is owed which will satisfied the loan to [redacted]. [redacted] sent Bethpage the full amount that is requested to satisfied the loan. A few weeks later Bethpage is sendin me a statement that I still owe them 1800. I tried to resolve this several times with them. I also file a case with the gap insurance to cover the rest and they refused. I am not responsible for this because in the payoff letter clearly states the amount that is needed to satisfy the loan. I have a copy of the payoff letter. Bethpage has also reported late payment to the credit bearu. My credit score has dropped drastically. On top of it all I have been receiving collection calls several times a day early in the morning. Please help me to resolve this matter. I want them to clear those charges and fix this with my credit bearu. Thank you.Desired Settlement: I would like for Bethpage to clear this balance and remove these charges from my credit report.

Dear [redacted],

Your correspondence addressed to the Revdex.com was received by Bethpage Federal Credit Union (“Bethpage”). I appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. On 2/*/2015, Fusion Auto Finance (“Fusion”) quoted a payoff for your leased vehicle in the amount of $35,562.12. On 3/**/2015 we received a check from [redacted] in the amount of $33,165.39. Your GAP claim was denied as the full [redacted] settlement was not received; you received additional funds directly from [redacted] towards your loan which were never submitted to us. As you are responsible for the remaining balance of your leased vehicle, you may contact Fusion at ###-###-#### for a payoff quote. I appreciate the opportunity to review your concerns and hope this letter explains Bethpage Federal Credit Union’s efforts and actions.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[r Answer Here]

[redacted] did not receive a payoff letter from Fusion Auto. [redacted] made several attempts with Fusion and Bethpage to get the letter. Bethpage sent the letter to [redacted] with the Payoff amount of $33165.39 which I faxes a copy over to the Revdex.com fax# ###-###-####... there wasn't any other letter sent to [redacted]. Myself has tried with Fusion and Bethpage and Fusion has referred me back to Bethpage because they were the one I was sending my payments to. I never dealt with Fusion until this accident. Please also contact [redacted] at ###-###-#### and they would tell you whom they received a payoff letter from. I have never came across a letter from Fusion nor has [redacted] received a letter from Fusion. The letter [redacted] has received was from Bethpage in that amount the check was sent for. Please find the fax copy of the payoff letter so that you can see what I am referring to... Again [redacted] tried several times to get a payoff letter from Fusion and Bethpage until finally Bethpage sent one... Thank you

Dear [redacted],

Your correspondence addressed to the Revdex.com was received by Bethpage Federal Credit Union (“Bethpage”). I appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns.

A Bethpage representative contacted [redacted] on 1/**/2015 and confirmed that the settlement amount on file with [redacted] for your vehicle was $36,525.00. [redacted] received a payoff letter in the amount of $33,165.39, in which payment was received by us on 3/**/2015. [redacted] mailed you a check for the difference in the amount of $3,359.61 to be submitted to us; these funds were never received and we were unable to pay off your loan. The current amount owed on your vehicle is $1,965.45, which by our records after speaking with [redacted], you are responsible for. This payoff amount is good through 1/**/2016.

I appreciate the opportunity to review your concerns and hope this letter explains Bethpage Federal Credit Union’s efforts and actions.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Hi [redacted],I contacted [redacted] today and spoke with Russ T[redacted] he is a Lien holder specialist. I expresses your message to him about claiming that I supposed to send the check to Bethpage. The is all misleading information and I an being accused for something that did not transpire. As per Russ they spoke with Bethpage representat I've Justine on 2/*/2015@ 2:52p.m. and he/she authorized [redacted] to send the remaining equity to the customer because a payoff letter in the amount of 33,165.95 was sent to [redacted] to Satisfy the loan and release the title. I was told by [redacted] that the remaining of the check was going to be sent to me and was never told that I had to send it to Bethpage. Which would not make sense because [redacted] would have sent the entire amount owed to Bethpage instead of releasing the remaining amount to me especially when the vehicle is leased and I did not pay taxes upfront. The payoff letter that was sent to [redacted] was also signed by April H[redacted] who is one of the executive at Bethpage. If Bethpage gave [redacted] a settlement amount of $36,522 why was that amount not stated on the letter? My credit has been hurting for 1 year now and someone has to take responsibility for this. This is not fair and there is a lot of misleading information going back and forth. Marilyn Lehrer I faxed the payoff letter to fax# ###-###-#### did you receive this letter? I would also like for if Revdex.com can contact [redacted] and hear their side of the story because you are only getting one side of this story. The phone# to [redacted] claims is ###-###-#### my claim# is [redacted] and ask to speak with Russ T[redacted]. I also asked him to note everything we spoke about. [redacted],Please from out from Justine about this conversation with [redacted] on the date said. I am sure Bethpage has conversations recorded and so do [redacted]. I will also be contacting you along with [redacted] so that someone can resolve this situation. If this is not going to get resolved I would have to take the next step into legal action. Thank you.[redacted]

Review: I have attempted for about 2 months to obtain a list of approved home appraisers from BFCU. Reason being is to have my Personal Mortgage Insurance removed from my mortgage payment. When I first called, a representative for BFCU told me I needed to use one that BFCU approved, then on the next call I was told I could use anyone I chose. I questioned them on that because of what I was told the first time. They put me on hold and came back and said I was correct, and they would mail me that list within 10 days after I fax in a request. First, I was given an incorrect number because my fax got rejected. I called back and got a new number and faxed again. 2 weeks went by, and I didn’t receive so I called back, this time I wanted to speak with someone from real estate. I was told they would call me back, and they never did. I called back the next week, and was told they would mail it, they never did. I called back again, and spoke with someone who then told me they no longer required an appraiser from their "list". I told them I needed that in writing due to all the indecisiveness and lack of professionalism, so they told me they would email it to me, and I never received. I called back one week later on a Monday and the same thing- I was assured it would be emailed and it was not. It is now Thursday, the same week, spoke with representative this morning, and again, I was assured this would be sent to me today, most likely by noon. It is now 5:30 pm, and I never received. Unfortunately, due to the total lack of professionalism by multiple employees at BFCU, I am left believing that is done intentionally, to avoid removing PMI from mortage payments from lendees.Desired Settlement: To have my PMI payment removed.

Review: I used the ATM at [redacted] which is through [redacted]. I have previously used this ATM without any fee charged to my account with BFCU. When I viewed my account I noticed I had been charged four times a fee of $2.50 each. The dates were 5/**/2015, 5/**/2015, 5/**/2015 and 6/*/2015. Contacted the 800 number to resolve this issue. They told me that my complaint would be submitted to the office that handles the issue. I asked for a call back the following day and they told me someone would call the next day. It has been at least a week with no call or response from anyone and the charges have not been reversed. This ATM is a shared branch ATM that I have used for the past 15 years and not charged a fee before.Desired Settlement: I want the fee's that I was charged (total of $10.00) reimbursed to my account and want to know why this atm is now charging fees or is it an error. I would someone to contact me and provide a list of no fee ATM for the Credit union.

Business

Response:

Dear [redacted], Your correspondence addressed to the Revdex.com was received by Bethpage Federal Credit Union. I appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns and resolve your complaint. Your account was reimbursed a total of $10 for the 4 separate ATM service charge fees that you were charged. Upon review of your complaint I must note that the surcharge is from [redacted], as some [redacted] locations are exempt from the surcharge-free network, in agreement with the Town of Islip, and can charge an ATM fee. These specific locations do not have the Co-op logo displayed on the ATM (red triangle that says co-op). Bethpage does not have any control over these ATMs, their locations, or when they charge a fee. We update our website, [redacted], daily to best reflect the most current list of surcharge-free ATMs. Please be sure to check our website for a full list of surcharge-free ATMs, check for the Co-op logo when you’re at the ATM (must be displayed to be surcharge-free), and check your receipt after each transaction. I appreciate the opportunity to review your concerns and hope this letter explains Bethpage Federal Credit Union’s efforts and actions. Regards, [redacted]

Review: I hold a Line of Credit with BFCU. On October **, 2014, that line of credit was paid down in its entirety. For the following two months, the BFCU website continued to show a zero balance, with zero payment due. However, in December 2014, I received a notice from BFCU indicating that the account was thirty days past due. I once again reviewed the account online to verify that there was a zero balance with no payment due.

I called BFCU to determine the reason for the notice I received, since the BFCU website continued to show that there was a zero balance, and no payment due. I was informed that the website failed to properly display the fact that an interest payment of $0.78 was due because the interest was improperly calculated at the time I paid the balance down in its entirety. A transfer was made from my checking account to cover the $0.78 due, and I was assured by the customer service representative to whom I spoke that no delinquency would be reported to any credit agency because of the failure of the BFCU website to properly indicate the $0.78 interest charge. (Please also note that this occurred while I was mobilized to active duty as an Army Reserve Officer.)

However, despite the fact that this delinquency resulted from the BFCU website's failure to accurately reflect my account information, BFCU reported to all three credit bureaus that the Line of Credit was more than 30 days overdue in December 2014. I wrote a letter to BFCU asking that this be addressed in August 2015 and have received no response.Desired Settlement: Please correct the report to all three credit bureaus that indicated the account was thirty days delinquent in December 2014.

Response:

Dear [redacted], Your correspondence addressed to the Revdex.com was received by Bethpage Federal Credit Union. I appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns and resolve your complaint. We have reviewed the account in question in which the interest payment charge of $0.78 was due 11/**/2014. This due date was indicated on your October 2014, as well as your November 2014, statement. As the $0.78 was applied on 12/**/2014, after 30 days, the overdue payment was reported. We have sent a correction to the credit bureaus on 9/**/2015 to have the overdue notice removed.I appreciate the opportunity to review your concerns and hope this letter explains Bethpage Federal Credit Union’s efforts and actions. Review: I leased a vehicle with a loan through Bethpage Federal Credit Union from 4/**-7/**. When the lease was over in July, I decided to purchase the vehicle. I received information from Bethpage that I needed to go to Fusion Auto Finance, a company they work with, to purchase the vehicle. I visited Fusion Auto Finance in early July to complete all paperwork to purchase the vehicle and to take out a new loan for the purchase price, also through Bethpage.

A month later, in August, I began receiving phone calls and letters in the mail stating I was in default of the lease loan because I didn't return the vehicle (that I purchased) and was being charged $800 for a late fee. I called Bethpage and was told it was a mistake on their part and would be corrected. I took them at their word, until two weeks went by and I received another letter. I called Bethpage again and was told again it would be fixed.

It is now October, and the problem has not been fixed. I still receive letters from Bethpage every few weeks stating I am in default of the loan and it is affecting my credit score. Every time I call Bethpage, spend an hour on the phone, get shuffled around between departments, speak to various managers, and I'm promised that it will be fixed within "48 hours and I will receive a call when it is resolved." Of course, I never receive any phone calls and the situation continues.

Most recently, I was told Fusion Auto Finance needs to send a check to Bethpage, paying off the original lease before the situation can be resolved. I fail to see how this problem between Bethpage Credit Union and Fusion Finance (a company I was told by Bethpage to use) has anything to do with me.

I should also add, while this has been going on, I have continued to make payments on the new loan, now 3 months old.Desired Settlement: I want in writing that this situation has been resolved and credit reports have been corrected.

Review: I am writing this letter in regards to the handling of a recent transaction at Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Bethpage, NY. As a business professional and small business owner for 30 years, I am appalled at the process and outcome of my refinance request.

Our request for a $260,000 mortgage loan was originally applied for in August of 2013, the representative we worked with was [redacted] On more than multiple occasions I had to contact his supervisor since numerous phone messages and e-mails were unanswered. In January of 2014 I was told that the bank let [redacted] go and [redacted] would be handling my loan.

I was advised by [redacted] that all of the Good Faith Deposit was refundable less $1000 for administrative fees. The process was prolonged and expenses incurred by multiple requests for financial statements from my accountant, environmental inspection, additional umbrella policy, LLC formation, and more.

I withdrew our request for funding on August **, 2014, after one full year and received an e-mail on September *, 2014 outlining expenses for what the bank requested and we would be held responsible for.

I have missed out on the opportunities for my business, since the working capital I needed never materialized. My frustrations are too many to ask you to listen to but the bottom line is that this whole ordeal has cost my business $10,000 in expenses. My business plan is something I will adjust to losing but cannot swallow this $7500 good faith deposit financial loss. As a bank boasting a business banking team who understands what it takes to operate a business on Long Island, I would appeal to your conscience.Desired Settlement: Refund our Good Faith Deposit less the $1,000 non-refundable fee as promised.

Business

Response:

Dear [redacted];

Bethpage is in receipt of your compliant filed with the Revdex.com dated October **, 2014 regarding your commercial real estate refinancing transaction with us.

As you know, Bethpage issued a Term Sheet to you on November [redacted], 2013 which you executed and which was accepted as received by Bethpage January *, 2014. As indicated, the Term Sheet clearly states the non-refundable nature of the monies paid by you as the “Good Faith Deposit” in connection with processing your loan .

As such your request was approved on April *, 2014 after receipt of required third party reports as well as financial documents. A commitment was issued and accepted by you on April **, 2014.

Subsequent to your acceptance of the commitment you advised [redacted] of my office that you no longer wished to consumate the transaction because you decided not to pay off other debts with this refinancing. Therefore, Bethpage withdrew you application at your request.

Given your desire not to proceed with this loan, Bethpage incurred costs in good faith that you have been advised you would be responsible for in the event this loan was not approved. As such, we are unable to refund your deposit.

Copies of both the executed Term Sheet and Commitment are available upon request. Should you desire to revisit this transaction with us please contact [redacted].

Sincerely,

Review: I am registered on Bethpage Federal Credit Union Bill Pay.

On September *, 2015, payment of $348 made to [redacted] for villas 2705 and 4723 was not paid.

Bethpage Bill Pay debited my account for this payment.

However, Lakeshore never received the payment.

Consequently, late payments of $25 per month were incurred for each unit, a total od $50 per month.

Late payment for September, October, and November. As September nonpayment would cause October payment to be applied to September ($50). November's payment applied to October ($50), still leaving November payment past due and a late payment o ($50). Total late payment is $150.

I have written letters to Bethpage Federal Credit Union. I have gone to the branch located on Sunrise Highway, in Massapequa and sat with the Assistant branch Manager, Nydia F[redacted]. who made telephone inquiries to resolve the matter, to no avail.

I was told that someone will get back to me. I have made over 20 telephone conversations, and each time I'm told that someone will get back to me. I have spoken to Lakeshore and they have not received this payment.

I am seeking a refund of $348 being the amount deducted from my account, in addition to late fees incurred of $150; a total of $498.Desired Settlement: Refund o $348 deducted from my account, and late fees of $150.00

A total refund of $498

Review: Month after month I have [redacted] bank send two automated checks in the amount of $1200.00 and $750.00 to my BFCU checking. the $750 always makes it...the $1200.00 finds its way into my mortgage account, even though it has a different account number, gets returned back to [redacted], and this month it has not shown up at all yet. This has been going on FOR YEARS...not months...with numerous complaints, and emails, phone calls, etc made to rectify. NO AVAIL. They have blamed me, [redacted], my accounting, the way I wrote the check out in the system, you name it...everyone except their system, which has gone downhill quickly. Unfortunate for me, I have a mortgage with them or I would close all of my accounts and leave but its not that simple.

My second complaint is that those accounts have gone into overdraft because of mistakes such as these...and unbeknownst to me, I pay the overdraft...see a ZERO balance when I look at my ACCOUNT BALANCES...however, there is a $.14 owed, which does not show up unless you go into the account and look...MY QUESTION...WHY WOULD MOST PEOPLE GO INTO THEIR ACCOUNT AND LOOK IF IT IS SHOWING A ZERO BALANCE OWED????? It is now on my credit report...showing as a negative point AGAINST me and they will not rectify it.Desired Settlement: I would like the negative point taken off my credit report, especially since it is being disputed. I would like my money to be allocated correctly, IN MY CHECKING account...and nowhere else. And/or go back to being a try credit union

Response:

Dear [redacted],

We recently received your letter regarding your bank by mail transaction.

At Bethpage, we strive to make world-class service that delivers the best experience possible to our members. With the issues you’ve encountered, we fell short on this commitment.

In regards to the first issue about the posting of your funds, the account number submitted from [redacted], ends in [redacted], this is not your correct account number. The correct account number ends with [redacted]. It is important for you to update this information on your [redacted] Bill Pay to avoid any future issues. We have also spoken internally to the team that is processing these to prevent returned payments.

Regarding the second issue about the $0.14 balance and the reporting of this on your credit report, we have since credited your account the $0.14 and have submitted an update to the credit reporting agencies to remove the delinquency from your account.

We are extremely sorry for the frustration this has caused you and we are doing everything we can to make this process better. Many of our members use these services and we greatly appreciate all of the feedback we have received from you.

Bethpage strives to provide world-class member service every day. We know that you expect that from us, and we will keep working until “Bank by Mail” lives up to that standard.

Thank you for your membership.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: I ordered UGGS boots online for the Holiday. My last contact with the merchant was the 2nd week in December where the merchant told me that the item would not arrive by the Holiday but that delivery of the boots would be made in December. I tried to contact the merchant again but my emails were returned as undeliverable. I provided Bethpage Federal Credit Union with copies of my bill of sale and all email correspondence with the merchant, as well as information proving that the merchant's two sites were shut down for selling counterfeit merchandise. The only contact I received from Bethpage Federal Credit Union was a letter saying that it could take up to 120 days to resolve the issue. [redacted]'s website (it was a [redacted] debit card that the purchase was made on) states that the Electronic Fund Transfer Act gives the bank up to 10 business days before deciding to re-fund your account. It's been over 3 weeks now and this is creating a financial hardship for me. [redacted]'s website also states that banks usually credit an account back while doing their research on the dispute but Bethpage Federal Credit Union is refusing, saying that they don't do the research but that they send the information to [redacted] and [redacted] does the research, telling them if they should credit my account after doing research. I called [redacted] (spoke with [redacted], id #[redacted]) who told me that the bank does the research and that he had no idea why Bethpage Federal would lie to me. My only income is Social Security disability and although this charge is only $100.93 it is creating financial hardship for me. Why are they lying and refusing to do anything to help me? I've been a customer for almost 40 years and am totally disgusted with Bethpage Federal Credit Union.Desired Settlement: Credit my account for the $100.93 that the merchant charged. No product was received.
