Review: I purchased a shirt on March 19th, 2016 for the purpose of wearing it to a gospel concert on March 20th, 2016 in Norfolk, VA. I did not open the shirt package until I was in the hotel room and it was approximately 1 hour prior to the concert starting. After taking the shirt out of the package, I fully "press ironed" the shirt prior to putting it on. While buttoning up the shirt, I noticed that the button/hole alignment was significantly off which resulted in a bulge between each button. The also resulted in my undergarment and chest being easily visible and exposed in between each button. Because I did not have time to go out and purchase another shirt and this particular shirt matched my outfit very well, I tucked it into my pants and put on my blazer in a effort to "TRY" to make it work but it just wouldn't. Therefore, after having the shirt on for less than 5 minutes, I came to the resolve that it had to be returned so I took it off, put it back into the package and place it back into my suitcase with the intention of returning it to Better Menswear at my next earliest convenience. Well, I returned it to the store today (March 26th, 2016) and was totally surprised by the negative experience and encounter with the store owner, Jodi. I explained to the owner the situation and he immediately replied that he could not exchange the shirt for another one because it looked like I had worn the shirt already (based on the wrinkles from it being tucked into my pants). I explained to him again that I tucked them into my pants only briefly because I was "trying" to see if I could "get by" with the imperfections with the button/hole alignment but realized it would not work out. Furthermore, it was only a few minutes (perhaps 3 to 5 minutes) that I had the shirt on before taking it back off. He further insisted (in the presence of other customers) that I had worn the shirt and he could not exchange it but would detach and reattach the buttons.Desired Settlement: My desire, as a long standing, loyal customer of this business, was to simple exchange the shirt for another one that did not have the defects. I was not asking for a refund, simple an exchange. However, he insisted that he would not do it because he did not believe that I did not wear the shirt and it was against company policy for him to exchange the shirt in that scenario. At the time I did not know that he is the owner of the business but after finding out that he is the owner, I was even more offended because it was totally in his authority to please the customer as opposed to suggesting that the customer was lying about the issue.

Response:
Attention; [redacted] Thank you for your attention to this
matter. We are in receipt of your letter dated March 28th in reference to the
above case #11293730 and while we are not members of your organization, we appreciate
your efforts to resolve disputes between customers and merchants, when
unfortunately they arise. In response to this issue, below are our reasons for
denying a return or refund for this item. 1. See the highlighted attached
receipt which states clearly "No Refunds on worn or altered
garments". 2. The garment was unpackaged, pressed, and worn and had
noticeable tuck and wear wrinkles on the tail, lower back, and underarms. 3.
Based on the inspection of the item, it would be impossible to sell to anyone
as "new". 4. The customers issue was that several buttons were not
centered and left a gap when worn. This was easily corrected and in fact was
done within 2 hours of the discussion. 5. Making every effort to respect the
customers request for a replacement item this is simply not our policy. We make
a concerted effort to treat everyone equally and fairly and do not make
exceptions. The fact that this customer had shopped in our business previously
is not consistent with that core principal. 6. We regret that the customer
feels that we weren't responsive and hope that in the future they might shop
with us again but our policy decision stands. Thanks again for your involvement
in this matter.
