June 15, Case# [redacted] Revdex.comViewridge Ave., #200San Diego, CA 92123-1688Dear [redacted] ***,I am replying to the complaint filed with your company by Mr [redacted] ***.The complaint states that Mr [redacted] called me several times regarding his issue with a garage door.I do not recall receiving any such calls and have assisted him previously with other issues athis residenceOn past service call requests, I checked his tankless water heater and advised that the water output wasfor that applianceOn another occasion, I checked a roofing issue where the termination cap hadblown off of a b-vent and I had it reinstalled.I called Mr [redacted] upon receiving your letter and arranged to inspect the garage doorHe was not athome when I arrived at the scheduled day and timeMy finding was that one of the four panels onthe x garage door had a paint or finish that looked to be oxidized but no flakingThe garage doorshould be repainted.The company who supplied and installed the door was [redacted] which was purchasedby [redacted] Their office is located in the Poway business park and can be contactedat ###-###-####Their representative, [redacted] , stated that the company that made the door is nolonger in businessHowever, their warranty would have expired and the warranty with [redacted] or [redacted] would have expired.The industry standard for a fit and finish warranty is one year and California's statue for structuralwarranty is ten yearsWhen a manufacturer provides a warranty, the [redacted] is not requiredby law to supplement that warrantyOf course, we do inspect and assist our clients whenever they havea question or concern.Sincerely, [redacted]

In response to *** construction's contention that we did not complain until the warranty was expired, the fact is that the defect was noted within the first months after occupancy of the house, and was mentioned to the *** He referred us to the sub***, who said that the condition was just "dirt" and needed no attention I reported that attempts to wash off the residue were not successful and that the door finish was defective, not dirty I reported this to *** and to ***My calls were not returned When I finally reached someone it was to learn that the sub had gone out of business so nothing could be done As the problem worsened I called *** construction at least three more times, but my calls were not returned The proposed solution of painting the door is not an acceptable one This is a factory finished vinyl door, and paint would be temporary at best This door is on the front of the house, and every time I come home I am disturbed by the poor appearance of the garage door Mr*** told us that he extended a year warranty on any defects, and I expect him to live up to this by replacing the faulty door sectionIf an acceptable color match cannot be achieved, then I expect the entire door to be replaced with one that matches the other garage doorIf no acceptable match is available, then both doors will need to be replaced Factory finishes were what I paid for, and that is the only solution that is acceptable Why should we accept anything less than the quality product we were promised?
