The credit has been made, it was made on 8/18/so there has been business days pass since that transaction would have batchedI am copying a printout of the transactions that my credit card processor charged/credited me on the 18ntYou will see that there is a negative $in that list, that is your creditI do not know for sure how many days have to pass before the credit appears on your card but I assure you I have been debited the amount as of the 18nt and I am confident that a credit will show up on your account very soon. Please see this article for credit card refund information [redacted]

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: I realize that Ben White Automotive did issue a credit on Tues, 8/18/as I too have a copy but when was this transaction batched out I was concerned that perhaps this transaction could have been voided before it was batched out I also need to know when this company batched out their transactions, each day, that week or do they batch out each month I called my credit card copy and I still have not received any credit as of Tuesday, August 25, and they also stated to me that it does not take this long if they batch out their receipts each day Regards, [redacted]

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: This response still does not reveal the factsThe fact is, when I took the car back to BWA to replace their plug, they called to tell me that the water pump was the reason the car had overheated forcing the plug outNow they are saying the head gasket was the causeWhich is it? In my opinion, the freeze plug was the reason the coolant leaked out of my engine like it did the first time, and BWA failed to install a slightly larger one as is customary for freeze plug replacementObviously there was nothing wrong with the head gasket when I drove it off the lot the first time, according to BWAFurthermore when they did the plug for me the first time, they did not put any coolant in the system eitherSure, it's an old carBut their story doesn't add up Regards, [redacted] ***

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID *** and I received a letter from my credit card company stating that they have received my credit of $from Ben White Automotive, August 26, that was originally issued, August 18,

The facts of this matter are as follows:The vehicle had a freeze plug that was rusted from the inside out. Freeze plugs are made from steel. Steel can rust, especially in a vehicle cooling system that has either not had the coolant changed periodically as required by the manufacturer, or the vehicle has no or too little coolant, in other words only water. There are other steel items in the cooling system. Head gaskets have steel inserts that serve as sealing rings around the coolant passages, and also to seal the combustion chambers. The normal operating pressure of the cooling system is typically 16 lbs per square inch (psi). Any pressures above that are relieved by a properly functioning pressure cap, radiator cap. The size of a freeze plug is roughly 1.5 inches in diameter. The pressure under normal conditions on the freeze plug would therefore be about 28 pounds (3.14 (pie) X .75 inch (radius) squared X 16 pounds of pressure). The amount of pressure that is required to install a freeze plug would be many times greater than that and even more to remove it. When the vehicle left our shop with the new freeze plug the system pressures were normal and probably remained normal until 2 months later when the head gasket failed. The head gasket failure would have produced a sudden increase of pressure in the cooling system - possibly well over 100 psi. This is too much for the radiator cap to be able to relieve effectively. When that event occurred, the water pump seal most likely gave away and the new freeze plug was pushed out. As far as the need to install a new water pump, the explanation is simple. With the water pump leaking it would be impossible to properly fill the cooling system with coolant which would be necessary to make a full diagnosis of the damaged head gasket. So our position in this matter remains unchanged, the deterioration in the cooling system is the reason that the engine has failed and therefore not the responsibility of Ben White Automotive.

No one has "canceled" the credit made to you from Ben White Automotive. The attached batch slip indicates that the transaction was made. Please contact us directly if the credit has not showed on your account AFTER 30 days has passed. At that time we will do a 3 way call between our credit card processor and your credit card bank so the problem can be sorted out.

The credit has been made, it was made on 8/18/2015. so there has been 4 business days pass since that transaction would have batched. I  am copying a printout of the transactions that my credit card processor charged/credited me on the 18nt. You will see that there is a negative $356.32 in...

that list, that is your credit. I do not know for sure how many days have to pass before the credit appears on your card but I assure you I have been debited the amount as of the 18nt and I am confident that a credit will show up on your account very soon. Please see this article for credit card refund information [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:  I realize that Ben White Automotive did issue a credit on Tues, 8/18/2015 as I too have a copy but when was this transaction batched out.  I was concerned that perhaps this transaction could have been voided before it was batched out.  I also need to know when this company batched out their transactions, each day, that week or do they batch out each month.  I called my credit card copy and I still have not received any credit as of Tuesday, August 25, 2015 and they also stated to me that it does not take this long if they batch out their receipts each day.

Vehicle came to BWA 290 West on 4/13/2015 with a rusted out freeze plug on the rear cylinder head, drivers side. The freeze plug was replaced. The vehicle was returned on 6/16/2015 with a leaking water pump and the new freeze plug blown out of the cylinder head. After replacing the freeze plug under...

warranty and replacing the water pump it was determined immediately that the cylinder head gasket on drivers side is leaking combustion (blown head gasket) causing extreme pressure in the cooling system. Most likely the age and mileage of the vehicle in conjunction with a rusted cooling system (previous freeze plug was rusted from the inside out) has caused the head gasket to rust/deteriorate and fail. The repairs needed are not caused by us and therefore is not our responsibility.

I am rejecting this response because: In this mechanic's response he admits that the weakest part of the cooling system was the freeze plug he just replaced. I seriously doubt that I needed a water pump at all. Why would a reputable mechanic put a new water pump on a car with a bad engine?

I am rejecting this response because: This response still does not reveal the facts. The fact is, when I took the car back to BWA to replace their plug, they called to tell me that the water pump was the reason the car had overheated forcing the plug out. Now they are saying the head gasket was the cause. Which is it? In my opinion, the freeze plug was the reason the coolant leaked out of my engine like it did the first time, and BWA failed to install a slightly larger one as is customary for freeze plug replacement. Obviously there was nothing wrong with the head gasket when I drove it off the lot the first time, according to BWA. Furthermore when they did the plug for me the first time, they did not put any coolant in the system either. Sure, it's an old car. But their story doesn't add up.
