I was contacted by *** *** thru a referral and she had expressed her concern with the work that her original contractor had done in her bathroomShe wanted me to stop by and inspect the work and provide her an estimate on demo-ing the tile work and re-installing tile. Once we inspected
the original work, it was clear that the original (unlicensed) contractor had very little or almost no experience with tile work, plumbing etcHe did set the new tub and the new plumbing valveHe set the tile work with a combination on liquid nail, silicone and glueThere was an access panel behind the new tub and we identified that the org contractor had DUCT TAPED the plumbing water supply linesThe Tub waste and overflow was intact and we DID NOT work on that portion of the plumbingWe did take the DUCT TAPE off the copper lines and weld the water supply lines.We demo'd all the tile work and reinstalledWe removed a wall, and installed new drywall, tape bed etc. We completed the job and were paid in fullI was contacted by *** a few weeks ago and she had told me that she had been using the shower(since July) but had never filled up the tub and taken a bath in itShe said her parents were in town and that the bathtub was used for that purposeShe said that her neighbor below had identified some water damage in their unit directly above *** TubShe has asked if we could come look at itI agreed and was in the process of getting my plumber thereI then started to recollect that we were not the original installer of the tub and had inquired if she had contacted the org person who installed itShe said that it was my responsibility and I was to blame. I do not believe this is the case and have requested the repair invoice and contact who fixed the tub leak but she has been unwilling to provide that. If she does provide the work order invoice from the repair and it is identified that the portion of the plumbing that we were involved in for her was to blame for the leak, then I will be happy to reimburse *** ***However, I still believe that it was the original contractor who installed the tub that caused the leak.
