BFB Homes LLC Reviews (2)

I was first engaged by Ms*** son ***, who made the first contact with me and who met with me initially on the mornng of Saturday July 26, and requested an evaluation of the current status of the foundation of the family's year old cottage in ***, MaineMs*** was not
present in the crawl space of the family cottage when *** *** and I discussed the condition of the concrete pier foundation and the substantial AND OBVIOUS frost heaving that had raised out of concrete posts any where from 1/4" to as much as 3/4" from an established elevation reference point on the central fireplace foundation (which was the least likely location in the foundation system to have moved as a result of frost heaving due to the amount of weight of the masonry fof the large fireplace and chimney) and agreed to me conducting a full laser level survey to determain the scope of movement. I made it clear to *** that this was a task that I would bill for at my rate of $45/HOURAfter meeting with *** in the crawlspace of the cottage his mother, *** ***, returned from shopping and the three of us began discussion of a bathroom remodel project on the first floor. We talked for about an hour at that time and then made arragements to resume the conversation later in the afternoon when the tile subcontractor could be present. The second meeting concerning the bath lasted hours +/-. At the conclusion of that meeting *** stated that she would be finacially responsible for the work to be done. At that time I reasonably presumed that *** had told his mother of the arrangement he and I had made concerning the survey work of the foundation as well as the renumeration for said work. I spent hours doing the survey using a laser level and hours preparing a very detailed report of the results of the survey and estimate costs as well as cost estimates for a bathroom remodeling project that we had discussed, a copy of which is attached. After initially sending copies of the report of the extensive damage done to the foundation by frost heaving over the years as well as copies of the bill to both *** and *** I received no responses from either *** or ***. I sent two additional invoices in the next month, the second being sent on September, in which I notified them that I would take collection action if the bill was not paid*** finally responded the next day, September 24, by phone. We had a, at times, heated conversation that was resolved by agreeing to split the bill by 50% to $180, *** saying that he would have a check sent with in the weekNot having received a check for the revised amount of $by October 2, I again email *** asking when I could expect a check. It was after this communication that I finally received any communication from *** ***, in spite of the fact that every email communication I sent was sent to both *** and ***I have rebuilt numerous homes from the foundation up over the of being in the residential construction business. My practical expierence in doing this kind of work is very thorough. Anyone can visit my website and see a slide show of one of my jobs where I built a new foundation under a early 1800's homeIn the subsequent months since my last communication with *** *** I have heard from other local respected builders that they have had difficulties getting paid by the ***s and that there are individuals who will not even consider working for them.I would be happy to provide references of satisfied customers to Revdex.com. I also have a number of testimonials on my web page.I am also forwarding the email corrospondence I had with *** *** last fall

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted]. Please add your rejection comments below.
Mr. [redacted] response is untruthful to say it politely.  First, I was in the house when he arrived and my son introduced him to me. Second, he admitted to my son in their phone conversation that he had never told him about a charge for his estimate and that is why he cut the bill in half.  He also alluded to this in his email that I can send to the Revdex.com if requested. So he fabricated the story about talking to my son about a charge in the basement of the house.   Third, when I told him I was financially responsible, why did he not inform me there would be a charge for his estimate? That would have been reasonable.  Fourth, the job he proposed was invented by him.  He discussed that the house might have been built on a slant for rain runoff since the porch originally was open to the elements. It was built this way and did not need his extensive proposed work. We only wanted one small area lifted that needed repair.  Fifth, we had just acquired the house from relatives weeks before, who to the best of our knowledge always paid their bills.  Besides the landscaper who has worked on the property for many years, and whom we continue to pay, the only work we personally had done was by a carpenter to repair a balcony and by a floor sander.  I personally called the floor sander to pay him immediately after the work was done and my son paid the carpenter. Work is done on the honor system in Maine.  The trade does the work and then he is paid.  That is how my relatives handled it over the years and we have found the trades to utilize this method. I will provide the names of these trades if the Revdex.com requests.  I want the Revdex.com to ask Mr. [redacted] to provide the names of all trades who have not been paid and will not work for us for this reason.  In fact, it is incumbent on the Revdex.com to investigate this claim by Mr. [redacted] to expose him as the liar he is.    So Mr. [redacted] has resorted to slander in order to defend himself and his poor business practices. He also fails to mention that the collection agency dropped his case against me.  He is pathological.
Regards,
[redacted]
