B&G TRANSMISSION SERVICES Reviews (%countItem)

I hade to repeatedly call and push for the correct repair of my Land Rover - and to have the correct cost for the repair applied.
On October 8, 2018, my Land Rover quit running while driving thru Clermont Florida. I had it towed to Lake Sumter Transmissions where it had been serviced before. They called on October 9, 2018 to tell me it needed a new fuel pump. They quoted me $1500 to replace the fuel pump. I told them about a Land Rover parts website where they could buy the correct fuel pumps for about $379. Ed at Lake Sumter Transmissions argued with me that I did not understand what was needed for the Land Rover and that they would get a fuel pump with warranty from ***. Several days went by without an update. When I called to ask what was gong on they said the fuel pump they ordered from NAPA was not the right one and had to order another. Another couple of days passed so I called again. For the 2nd time they ordered and received an incorrect fuel pump. Even though I explained where they could get the correct pump, they insisted on doing it their way. It took more than 3 phone calls and emails to the new owner Bobby to push the point that a fuel pump replacement should not cost more than about $700 parts and labor. Bobby finally said he would speak with Ed and then told me the cost to replace the fuel pump would be just over $700. It took 2 and half weeks to get through this process before the Rover was finally repaired - or so I thought. About a week later while at work, the Rover would not start again. So the replacement of the fuel pump did not correct the issue in the first place. This is a classic example of an auto repair shop charging the customer for parts an labor legitimately but it did not resolve the original issue.

Desired Outcome

I believe a full refund is the best resolution..

Re: *** Complaint

We are in receipt of a letter informing Lake Sumter Transmissions that a complaint has been lodged with your office.
It is always our intent to resolve customer complaints in such a way that is fair and equitable for both parties. In this instance the customer believed that we should have taken his advice and purchase the parts that he believed were the correct parts found online, at a cheaper price.
Customer also complained that we had his car too long. *** names Ed as his Service Technician but in fact per the paperwork the Service Tech was Byran. The car was with us a total of 8 business days, from October 8th -17th. Had we utilized the Rover's North parts supplier, he suggested it would have been 7-9 business days to receive the part. This information is shown in the webpage information that *** emailed to me on October 15th. Since the part we ordered was coming from Texas and hurricane Michael hit the coast of Florida after the order was placed there was no way to expedite delivery. This information is shown in the webpage information that *** emailed to me on October 15th. I would be happy share the email documentation to you upon request.
Since we are a AAA rated shop and always warranty our work it is the policy of Lake Sumter Transmissions that we purchase parts through known venders, that also warranty their product.
The issue that brought ***'s car to our shop was fixed and was acceptable upon receipt of his vehicle.
We have not heard that there was any issue with the vehicle until we received your letter. *** is the neighbor of the previous partner in the business and he may be feeling that he is not getting the individual attention that he has had in the past, while this is unfortunate, this is not something that we can change.
***'s failure to notify Lake Sumter Transmissions of the problem, keeps me from fixing the mechanical issue, and does not rise to the level of labeling my business as untrustworthy.
As with all of our customers, if we know about a problem, we will fix the problem. We understand that car repairs can be expensive and having reliable transportation is important in our daily lives.
Please let me know if you need any further documentation, to clear our reputation with your organization.
Respectfully,
Bobby
Bobby L, Owner of Lake Sumter Transmissions
