Review: I contracted Big Apple Contracting to complete the cleaning of our compactor chutes on December [redacted] 2012. During the cleaning our residents, a total of 78 apartments, are not able to use the compactor rooms to dispose of their trash. Therefore this service was coordinated with the building and all tenants. The work was scheduled to begin at 9am sharp to allow for a quick turnover. However, Big Apple employees arrived at 11am. Upon their arrival Big Apple employee, [redacted], was sarcastic, condescending, bitter about doing his job and walked off the site. Immediately after this incident I emailed [redacted], owner or managing agent of Big Apple Compactor, detailing the incident to which I never heard back from. I ended up hiring another compactor chute company to complete my cleaning/maintenance as result and never contracted Big Apple again. A year later I receive a bill from [redacted] claiming I owe them money on an invoice that dates back to July 2012, which was never approved or agreed on via an estimate as we had previously done. This is a terrible company that's unprofessional, unreliable, which is now threatening to put a lien on my property for work that was never approved or agreed on. Please accept the following as our response to complaint ID #[redacted]:

1) Yes we were contracted to clean the trash chute. The cleaning was scheduled for December **, 2012. We were unable to perform the service because the drains in the basement of the claimants building were clogged. This was explained to the claimant who didn’t want to hear it. When you pressure wash the chute there must be a place for the water to go. We never invoiced the claimant for even so much as our lost time.

2) On July **, 2012 we received a service call directly from the claimant, [redacted] that "the compactor was only working manually". We dispatched a technician on July **, 2012 and the repairs were completed on July **, 2012. The claimant was invoiced a total of $936.33 for these required repairs which remain unpaid. As to the claimants issue that we didn't get their permission to make the repairs it was the claimant directly that made the request for service. When [redacted] called she never said this was for estimate only. In addition we have been working for this client since 2008 and have made numerous repairs to the compactor over the years without an estimate that were paid. We have turned the account over to our collection agency to recover this money.

How the claimant can associate an invoice for work performed on July **, 2012 with an attempted chute cleaning five months later in December? The claimant was never even invoiced for our lost time when we couldn’t perform the chute cleaning. We have the building superintendants signature for the work we completed in July. We will not remove this invoice as requested by the claimant and will continue to allow our collection agency pursue payment.
