Big B Concrete Reviews (4)

A crew from Big B Concrete arrived at our house around 2:this afternoon (01/07/2016) They did not attempt to see if anyone was home but [redacted] observed them here for less than minutes During that time they prepared stakes and tape to block off the driveway, then applied a liquid to the curb, apron, and approach We will assume it was the V It took them less than minutes to apply, using a spray applicator. We will follow up with Revdex.com with one final comment later.Thank You [redacted] and [redacted]

We appreciate Brian's quick response to our complaint He did communicate with us by text and phone message on 01/04/2016.We would agree with Brian that there may be confusion or miscommunication on both our parts.Brian stated that he did apply a "seal coat" the day of the pour Even though *** watched the whole process, even watching the concrete dry for many hours afterwards, he did not see a spray coat applied Brian said he returned later to apply that spray which only took a few minutes on this small job, and that *** was not outside With that being said, we have to trust that Brian did that as he stated *** did not see one way or the other. The confusion seems to be more related to what we refer to as a seal coat In conversation with an employee of the company, we were told that the seal coat would be applied as soon as possible, weather permitting, after the concrete cured, at least days, after the pourThe employee further explained that the seal coat would be brushed into the concrete This is the coat we expected to be done, as protection from water and salt damageThat is when we contacted the company days after the pour, to complete the job After receiving no response for days, we contacted the company again The company did then respond, stating it would cost an additional $ When we responded that we expected the job to be completed at no additional cost, the company did indicate they would be out in days to complete the job, at no costWe never heard anything after that, and that is why the complaint was filed In the meantime, many suitable weather day opportunities were missed.Brian responded that he made several attempts to apply this sealer, this week (01/04/2016) and that the homeowners declined due to weather concerns He responded that he will apply the sealer 01/06/ Basically, the homeowners' weather concerns are based strictly on manufacturer recommendations for application In speaking with the manufacturer, we were told that the slab temperature (not just air temperature) needs to be above freezing for at least several hours, and dry for at least six When Brian said he would apply the sealer 01/04/2016, the temperatures were in the teens and 20's, and it snowed! We suggested to Brian, and the manufacturer of the product confirmed, that the weather all this week, would not be suitable The manufacturer stated that applying the sealer this week would result in waste of time and money for Brian, and a seal of no value to us The product applied against manufacturer recommendations would void the purpose of the sealer which is to protect against water and salt damage Further, the manufacturer stated that the product applied initially is to help with the "cure" of the concrete, where the second coat, applied after cure (days or more) is to "seal" against water and salt This is the seal coat that we anticipated.Based on conversation with the manufacturer of the product, and their recommendation, Brian should not apply the sealer, any time this week This application needs to wait until the weather is suitable, even if it means several months from now.We appreciate that Brian is following up about this, but he needs to wait until suitable weather so that he does not waste his time and money, or void the purpose of the seal.Thank you*** and *** ***

A crew from Big B Concrete arrived at our house around 2:00 this afternoon (01/07/2016).  They did not attempt to see if anyone was home but [redacted] observed them here for less than 15 minutes.  During that time they prepared stakes and tape to block off the driveway, then applied a liquid to the curb, apron, and approach.  We will assume it was the V 102.  It took them less than 3 minutes to apply, using a spray applicator. We will follow up with Revdex.com with one final comment later.Thank You[redacted] and [redacted]

In response to this complaint I would like it to be known Big B Concrete did everything per contract, per code, with permits and inspections. The job was done on the day we said it would be and the job turned out excellent with no issues at all. A perfect 10 out of 10. That being said I do believe...

there was some confusion in regards to a second coat of sealer that we offer on drives and approaches at an additional discounted cost  as an extra precaution to protect concrete from salt due to street winter time maintenance. Because of the confusion and the size of the small one car approach I said I will do it for no charge. We have made several attempts at completing this and we were canceled by home owners because of weather related concerns. We are scheduled to attempt again on 1-6-2016 and have been advised again by [redacted] and [redacted] that they do not feel the weather will be suitable. Even though we are offering an extra service at no additional cost if the weather permits it will be done. With over twenty years experience I am confident it will be performed with the same attention as the rest of the job. I was surprised to be contacted by the Revdex.com and I hope this will shed a little light on the situation. It is unfortunate that the Revdex.com was contacted as I am sure they are very busy with other matters. Thank you for your time and looking in to this as I am confident it will be resolved quickly.Brian S[redacted]Big B Concrete###-###-####
