Absolutely stay away!! Do not use this company. We booked our move a month in advance and were cancelled on the day of the move due to mechanical issues. I understand things happen; however, a business who is responsible for moving which people plan MANY things around, should have a contingency plan in place in case one of their trucks has mechanical issues. We had to take additional time off from work, extend the move date from our old house which cause multiple re-bookings of other services, and then the movers were two hours late on the re-scheduled day. (The two movers were good and were the only positive experience.) This move ended up costing us over a $1000 more in additional costs due to their same day cancellation. We requested to be charged the minimum rate and not be charged for the additional hour and a half and we were told it was not their fault and that we should have called another moving company the day they cancelled. (I did but it is almost impossible to get a move scheduled the same day.) We asked multiple times for the owner to call us, which he/she did not. At no point were we rude to the staff hoping they would make the situation right. The office/management staff is incredibly unprofessional, rude, condescending, and do not care about customer service.

In June of 2018 we contracted with *** Moving and Storage to pack and store our possessions in ***, Ca. and then move them to our new home in ***, Ca. when we found it. We contacted the same company in November 2019 and scheduled delivery to our new home on November 15, 2019. Our possessions arrived but by the next morning we realized many items were missing including: our barbecue, 4 patio chairs, 2patio lounge chairs, a large patio umbrella, a plastic trash bin full of garden tools, including a leaf rake, a yard rake, shovel, post hole dinner, axe, large pruning clippers, Christmas tree stand, jumper cables and ironing board. *** Moving and Storage refuses to take any responsibility for the loss of these items. They tried to say they were not moved from the house when we had returned to the house and noted they were gone. We would like *** Moving and Storage to take responsibility for this loss and compensate us to some degree for our loss. The items were not new but were perfectly useable and are needed at our new house.

Customer Response • Dec 16, 2019

I am rejecting this response because:

I reject the business response because I did not move with another company. In June of 2018 I googled moving in ***,Ca. I found *** Moving and Storage and called them to move us. Just before the move date they called to say they didn’t have enough storage at their facility and had me rent a storage unit. On the day of the move they came and took possession of our household items. My husband and I WERE BOTH PRESENT for the move. In November 2019 when we were ready to reclaim our items, I called the same company listed in the google search, *** Moving and Storage, at the same phone number, same address, same advertisement, indicating they are a family owned, local company that has been in business for 50 years. The gentleman who answered the phone remembered our move and at no time did anyone mention anything about a different company. Indeed this is a family company, and there has been a falling out in the family. The family is the same and mostly the same people are involved. They have just done some legal maneuvering to avoid liability and responsibility. When they delivered our items to the new house the garage was filled with hundreds of boxes both large and small. We did sign that the truck was empty and it was, but we had no way of knowing so many big things were missing until we began to unpack. At no time were we ever notified of any change of ownership or that our things were in the possession of a different entity. *** Moving and Storage took possession of our things, June 15, 2018, moved them to storage, locked it up, and took possession of the key. We never saw the storage unit or had anything to do with it. The movers were totally responsible. I do not expect for everything to be replaced but feel some compensation is only fair. This is NOT a false claim. I have explicitly detailed the facts as they occurred. This business is hiding behind sleazy business practices and misleading the public.

Big Bear Moving Response • Dec 16, 2019

This customer had moved with another company prior. We moved her things out of storage of which see received everything that was in her storage. As you can see by the attached documents she signed that we gave her everything from storage and the truck was empty when we delivered it to her. As a note this customer had moved her things into storage b y the other company but was over a year ago and she was not present for that move. There is no way to tell or prove the validity of her false claim. The things we picked up at storage we all delivered to her...
