Do not use this moving company! The sales person over the phone promised a guaranteed quote of $1, After moving my stuff in the van I was told the amount was $2, The sales person left things off the quote to give me a lower price He also told me that the bubble wrap of glass was included It was not
The movers rushed and I had to tell them several times to be careful When furniture arrive in Raleigh They had broken a wall unit and glass They also lost a desk chair
Horrible experience! They are not qualified to be in the moving business

I'd give a 1.5 stars to Big Boy Moving and Storage. I moved from Miami to Atlanta and was very disappointed overall by the move. I was prepared to call Revdex.com on them, but the guys who delivered my stuff in Georgia were great, so they saved the experience.

Issues:
1. Pricing bait and switch: I was originally quoted about $1,800 by [redacted] for a full pack and move based on a phone estimate, much less than competitors. I had 2 competitors come and do an in-home estimate. I then sent that in-home inventory list and [redacted] updated the Big Boy estimate to $2,300 for my 10th floor 2 bedroom move from Miami. All seemed to be fine at first.

The problems started when the move crew arrived. ZEB, the move crew manager, is just a crook. The minute he stepped into our apartment he started huffing that the move looked much bigger than was on his paperwork. Since he hadn't even gotten past the front door when he started this hustle, I realized immediately they were trying to up-charge. Ultim

Big Boy Moving is TERRIBLE! Avoid this company!

So, it begins with a pretty good quote. Then that quote goes up when the rep calls me back 2 weeks later to confirm that we are still on and that the inventory is the same or has changed (it changed slightly, I removed some items). However, things are still on a relatively even keel...that is until the day of the pick-up!

We were told the driver would be be there no later than 1pm on the 25th Aug. 1pm comes and no driver, no call. I called Big Moving who told me that the driver's truck broke down the night before and he was at a garage in Newark trying to get it fixed. They also said that they were see if they could secure a different truck, but they also assured me that it was unlikely.

Let's reflect for a moment. The truck broke down the night before he was to arrive for pick-up. If I had not called Big Boy Moving, I would never have known what had happened! NOT GOOD! But, sadly, it does not stop there!

The driver calls me, not long after hanging up with Big Boy Moving, to let me know the situation and that he was "doing everything he could to make it there tonight". Several calls later, I am told that he and the one mechanic were on their way somewhere like 20 miles or something away to pick-up the part and then they were going to put it in his truck! *groan*

Cut to the arrival. The driver finally makes it to our house around 7:30pm. He gets out, along with his two helpers, and assesses the load. "Oh," he assures my husband and me, "this looks easy. Should have this loaded up in no time". And by "no time", he meant 3 and a half hours! Our only furniture was a small dinette set, 6 hard chairs, a desk, an arm chair, a bed and the rest was boxes and plastic totes - from a small one bedroom house.

He sat working on the paperwork while his two helpers did the packing/loading. Packing tape was the "flavor of the night", as they went through roll after roll, eventually trying to charge us $76 extra for 19(!) rolls of tape just to tape our plastic totes!

So at at 11:30pm I was finally able to leave for our new home 8 hours away (I had to be at a job interview the next morning and had expected to be leaving by 8pm).

BIG BOY TAKES YOUR BELONGINGS TO A WAREHOUSE.

A week goes by, not call from Big Boy as to when we could expect our stuff. Husband calls Big Boy, and is told that it's in New York, should be loading that weekend. We were happy, as we wait for the call that never comes! :(

My husband follows up the next week, told that it's still sitting in a warehouse in New York! It's not until the 3rd week of him calling, asking them to provide shipping info that we learned it was scheduled to arrive that Tuesday between 12pm & 4 pm, nearly 3 weeks after we moved! When we booked we were told a week, NOT 3 weeks!

Delivery day: 4 pm comes around and no driver. We try reaching Big Boy, but no one wants to answer the phone, nor do they want to return our call after leaving voicemail as to no-show driver. Around 4:30 driver calls to say he ran into truck trouble and is running late, saying he should be there around 6-6:30.

6:30 rolls around, still no driver. We tried calling him back on his cell, but he was clearly not taking ANY calls. Same for Big Boy! I left a message saying I will call the cops if my stuff doesn't arrive.

Driver finally shows up at 7:30-ish! The driver, and his partner, get out of the truck (a white Enterprise rental truck!!), both reeking of marijuana (this is not a joke, it was very strong).

It's now 8:50. They've just finally gotten ONE thing off the truck and upstairs to our apartment: the box spring! Mind you, during the hour that led up to them bringing it up, we had to hear over and over this was a "long-haul job" and that we should be paying them more!

The one guy cornered me down by my car (I moved it to let them get closer to the building) tell me that I need to give them more money, he was not being nice, he was being insistent so much so that it prompted my husband to go downstairs and intervene! I FELT SCARED, VULNERABLE, INTIMIDATED AND VICTIMIZED!

Around 9:30, with not very much unloaded, my husband went downstairs to take the dogs out. First thing he smelled was marijuana. The driver and his partner were leaning against the truck, smoking something that smelled like marijuana! They finally finished unloading about 10:30 pm. We unwrapped their moving pads from everything to help get them out faster. Neither one of them offered to help put the bed frame and bed together, they dumped all of our stuff into our livingroom, but at that point, we did not care. Before they rolled out, the helper came up to use the bathroom, and when he came out, he turns to my husband and says, "Hey, you got a little somet'in extra to help us out?" to which he replied, "Nope.".

We have written and called Big Boy but they have not responded or apologized. Most of my boxes were crushed, my totes were crushed too, some of my stuff was ruined.
