Big Break Exxon Reviews (1)

Review: On August 25, 2013 I used the mentioned businesses drive thru car wash. Upon entering the car wash a yellow light appeared reading "back-up". I backed the car up as instructed and then the red stop light appeared. When I backed up, I heard an odd sound and then my tire pressure light on my dashboard lilt up. When I drove out of the car wash, my front driver’s side tire was completely flat. I called for tow service. I then went into the gas station to ask to speak to the owner of the car wash. A clerk mentioned to me that an incident with the car wash occurred two days ago in which the car wash instructed a car to back-up. After the clerk spoke to the owner she mentioned the store is not responsible for the car wash even though they own it. I have called management at the store multiple times, speaking with a gentleman named [redacted] at ###-###-####. [redacted] states he is unable to reach to owner and cannot offer any assistance with this matter. I have a police report of the incidence as well as photos that are consistent with a car wash machine slice to my front tire. I have incurred fees to replace the tire, spoiled groceries in the car while waiting for tow assistance, spare tire replacement, and time from work to fix the car. I would like the car wash to pay for all my damages since they knew the car wash machine was instructing people to "back-up" and they did not close the car wash or post caution signs. Also, I would not have reversed my car if the machine had not instructed me to. Two weeks ago I had my 2012 Honda serviced and the tire tread was in good condition. My tires were not worn or in damaged condition, as my car is in excellent condition. This business has displayed extreme unprofessionalism and I hope to settle this without the addition of an attorney as that would increase costs.Desired Settlement: Refund for car wash, monies I have paid for tire replacement, spare tire replacement, road side assistance fee, time off from work to fix tire, and spoiled groceries.

Business

Response:

Sent the customer a refund of $15 for the car wash.

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I have had contact with the business regarding this matter. I explained that my tire and spare tire was damaged and needed replacement. I have paid over $200.00 in these costs. They refused to pay and they said that they are not responsible since there is a sign posted at the car wash. I took a photo of this sign and it does not mention tire damage. I backed my car up because the car wash machine had blinking lights with directions to back up...otherwise I would have never backed up and my tire would not have gotten punctured. I also have a police report and photos of my tire damage. This car wash is responsible and should pay for the damage their machine did to my car. They have not paid or try to resolve this matter with me.Regards,[redacted]
