First of all, I cannot solve a problem with a customer if I am not aware there is a problemI wish this customer would have come in and talked to us about the problem they were having, I may have been able to save them time and moneyWhen they called me 7/(more than weeks since I had any communication from the customer!) and asked me about a tow, I was out of town for a couple days, but told him that although we don’t have a tow truck, if I was there I may be able to help tow it using a tow strapHe said he would call a tow truckThe History; On Saturday, June 4th, (day since the car was sold on 5/20/and technically past our warranty period) the customer came by our lot and wanted us to look at a warning light that had just come on He said his wife had just returned from Phoenix (it was degrees in Phx that day) and that upon topping the hill a light came on I had our service Technician scan the car to see what the light was indicatingIt was for a POcode, “hi temp operation activated” which is an indication that a transmission temperature threshold has been reached The technician believed that it was more than likely reached from the drive up the hill in the very hot weatherThere were NO OTHER CODES OR FAULTS presentHe cleared the POcode, and it never reoccured, which is what we expected under driving conditionsThe technician also inspected the car at that time for operating temperature and/or any leaks or other indications of problems and found everything to be ok and normalThe technician also did a test drive, with the customer, while monitoring the car with the scanner attached, and it showed ALL SYSTEMS NORMAL continued...The fault codes that the customer is saying is happening now, after almost months since he bought the car, have nothing to do with the POcode that he came in for on 6/4/And after diagnosing the car, test driving the car, and the fact that it has not had any further reoccurrence or issues pertaining to that code, it would be safe to say the problems that the customer is experiencing now would be well outside of our day/ mile warranty period. That being said, if the problem is a simple replacing of the throttle body, those can be purchase new for just over $I would be happy to help the customer with the throttle body repair, and I could get it done for him for much less that he is being quoted at York DodgeThis is what I meant when I said I could have saved him considerable time and money had he just communicated with me a little better.Bruce [redacted]

First of all, I cannot solve a problem with a customer if I am not aware there is a problem. I wish this customer would have come in and talked to us about the problem they were having, I may have been able to save them time and money. When they called me 7/20 (more than 6 weeks since I had any...

communication from the customer!) and asked me about a tow, I was out of town for a couple days, but told him that although we don’t have a tow truck, if I was there I may be able to help tow it using a tow strap. He said he would call a tow truck. The History; On Saturday, June 4th, (day 16 since the car was sold on 5/20/16 and technically past our warranty period) the customer came by our lot and wanted us to look at a warning light that had just come on.  He said his wife had just returned from Phoenix (it was 115 degrees in Phx that day)  and that upon topping the hill a light came on.  I had our service Technician scan the car to see what the light was indicating. It was for a PO218 code, “hi temp operation activated” which is an indication that a transmission temperature threshold has been reached.  The technician believed that it was more than likely reached from the drive up the hill in the very hot weather. There were NO OTHER CODES OR FAULTS present. He cleared the PO218 code, and it never reoccured, which is what we expected under normal driving conditions. The technician also inspected the car at that time for operating temperature and/or any leaks or other indications of problems and found everything to be ok and normal. The technician also did a test drive, with the customer, while monitoring the car with the scanner attached, and it showed ALL SYSTEMS NORMAL.  continued...The fault codes that the customer is saying is happening now, after almost 2 months since he bought the car, have nothing to do with the PO218 code that he came in for on 6/4/16. And after diagnosing the car, test driving the car, and the fact that it has not had any further reoccurrence or issues pertaining to that code, it would be safe to say the problems that the customer is experiencing now would be well outside of our 15 day/ 500 mile warranty period. That being said, if the problem is a simple replacing of the throttle body, those can be purchase new for just over $100. I would be happy to help the customer with the throttle body repair, and I could get it done for him for much less that he is being quoted at York Dodge. This is what I meant when I said I could have saved him considerable time and money had he just communicated with me a little better.Bruce [redacted]
