Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 7, 2016/01/11) */ Customer had his vehicle towed in because it would not start. The fuel pump and fuel filter were replaced at a cost of $711.04. The vehicle was towed in again approximately a week later because it would not start. The vehicle had no fuel... in it. Five gallons of fuel was put in the vehicle and it started and ran fine. At this time there were no complaints from the customer regarding running condition, fuel gauge or SES light. We did not hear from the customer again until two months and over 1,000 miles after we replaced the fuel pump. This was after he had taken his vehicle to another shop for repair. All repairs made by Big ***'s Auto Repair are covered under warranty. Had the issue regarding the running condition or SES light ever been brought to our attention prior to having it repaired by another shop, we would have advised the customer to bring the vehicle in for further inspection. Big ***'s maintains that the fuel pump was installed properly and the float on the side of the pump was defective. The faulty fuel pump would have been replaced under warranty at no additional cost to the customer. Since the repair would have been covered under warranty and Big ***'s Auto Repair was not notified of the issue, nor given the opportunity to remedy the issue, the only reimbursement we offer in this situation is to refund the cost of the part upon return of the faulty fuel pump. The fuel pump was billed to Customer at $315.00, ($350.00 minus a 10% parts discount). We are willing to refund the customer for half of our repair bill for a total of $355.52. We have left numerous messages for the customer since 12/03/15 letting him know that we have a check waiting for him at the shop.
