Re: Case NoXXXXXXXX
To Whom It May Concern:
This letter is in response to the response of the owner and operator of Big Mike's Armory & Repair, Mike ***, regarding the case number referenced aboveAs correctly stated by Mr***, I do not believe he lived up to my expectationsReason being, he did not complete the project, as he stated on numerous occasions, in person, that he could
I clearly understood that it would take Mr*** six (6) to eight (8) weeks for turnaround of the project I asked him to doI did not have a problem with the turnaround time because I understood that it takes time and I wanted it done, correctlyBeing that Mr*** states, time and time again, that he is a certified Gunsmith, I trusted him to do the job, correctly; and it was not
So, touching on his response to my complaint, yes, on January 29, 2016, Mr*** did in fact contact me stating that he did break the sear spring and yes, he did replace it, at his cost - as he should haveHe states that the receiver, bolt and trigger assemble were incompatible; however, when he received the rifle, this is how it was assembled from the factory and worked properly before he broke parts in the trigger group while reassembling it
On February 9, 2016, Mr*** contacted me to state that he felt the rifle was "unsafe" and he no longer wanted to complete this projectOn this exact date, myself and my girlfriend, Amanda Wenta, met with Mr*** with the understanding that he was willing to refund two hundred dollars ($200.00) and give me back the rifle, unassembledAs we arrived, Mr*** attempted to hand me the two hundred dollars ($200.00) before speaking and when I did not take it right away, he then offered it to my girlfriend who then stated, "It's his money, I'm not touching it, it's between you two." So, yes, she did refuse the money because it wasn't hersAt no point in this exact conversation did she say that she did not care what I did; however, in prior conversations that she and I both had in MrSweeney's' shop, she did state that she did not care what I did with the gun or how much money I spent on it because it was my moneyThe only thing that Mr*** constantly advised me of, was the costs that would be involved with this and that it would be priceyAlso at no point did Mr*** "beg" and "plea" with me to stopThe begging and pleading that Mr*** says he did on February 9th or any date previously, is a fabrication on his part because I have on video recording, the forty (40) minutes that I was in his shop, that he was okay with continuing to do the work, so on and so forth
Furthermore, on February 9, 2016, while speaking with Mr***, in person, I asked him why he thought it was unsafe and he stated, "I think the barrel is bent or the muzzle brake isn't threaded correctly." With that being said, I asked him if he was comfortable with taking a fishing line fifty (50) yards out and pulling the trigger, if we were to find one that was compatible for my rifle to prove that it was unsafeBy doing this from that distance, it would safely show Mr*** and me that it was in fact bent or that the muzzle brake was not threaded correctlyMr*** then stated that he was perfectly fine with doing thatWhile standing in his shop, I advised Mr*** that I would purchase a new trigger assembly and I did, from his computer and had the parts delivered to his shop
On February 17, 2016, Mr*** did advise me that he installed the new trigger and yet again, the sear spring broke - the same spring that he broke prior to this incidentHe deemed it as unsafe and asked me to come pick it upI arranged a time to meet with him to pick up my gun and no words were really spoken other than him stating he was at his wits-end with this project, leaving my girlfriend to snicker at his comment, due to me being at my wits-end with the constant back and forth that was going on between he and I
On February 17, 2016, my girlfriend, Amanda *** did in fact email Mr*** regarding this issueThere was, in no way shape or form, a conflict with her doing so and requesting that I receive a refund, after he, time and time again, broke pieces on my rifleAgain, she did not take the two hundred dollars ($200.00) that was offered to her because it was not her money nor was she requesting a refund, in her email, for her benefitShe simply stated that some of the money should be refunded to me for the lack of accurate work that was done on my gun
Now, in MrSweeney's' response to my Revdex.com complaint he states, "Gun Smiths understand the basic firearm platforms; Revolvers, Semi-Auto Handguns, Carbine Rifles, Shot Guns, & Bolt Action RiflesBut that doesn't mean I understand all the intricate details of each and every firearm made." The information, the he himself provided, clearly states that he does not specialize in Savage Rifles; however, chose to take on this project because "it was a challenge" for him, as he stated in his emailUnless you fully understand how a certain gun works, how to reassemble it (properly), or are certified to work on this type of model, you do not take someone's hard earned money and play with it as a "challenge" of yours
Now, Mr*** feels, for one reason or another, that my girlfriend wrote the Revdex.com complaint and the email, because they were "eerily the same", holds zero relevance to the fact that Mr*** obtained money upfront for a gun he received in working order, that was used for years to hunt wild game, only to receive the rifle back in my possession in non-working order with various parts of the trigger in a plastic bag and the scope not properly mounted
Mr***, on numerous occasions, stated that he could not work on a specific part of my rifle (in emails), only to meet with him at his shop, where he verbally states that he was able to all of a sudden to do what he originally said that he couldn'tYou either can or you can't do the work - there is no in betweenMr***, from the very beginning of this project knew and understood that he did not specialize with this model and continued to do work on it, regardless
If I would have known that he was not certified with this rifle from the beginning, I would have taken my business elsewhereHowever, I am certain that Mr*** took it as a chance to make money, whether it was complete or incomplete and deemed it as being "unsafe" so he could use that phrase as a scapegoat to stop the work and not refund any money to meHe should never have taken this project on knowing he was not certified with this specific modelIt was dishonest to do so and I was misled to believe that he was able to complete the project leaving me out of money that was paid to him and to replace parts that he broke and that he should have replaced at his costIn the end, I took him a fully functional firearm and received it back in a condition that is inoperable because of broken parts and extremely low quality craftsmanship on his part
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns regarding this matter
Thank you,

Final Business Response /* (4000, 15, 2016/03/14) */
I am in receipt of a letter from the Revdex.com, letter attachedThe Revdex.com insists that I must move to "middle ground to resolve this complaint" How do you move to "middle ground" when safety is concerned? I am convinced that no one at the Revdex.com even read my response, dtd 03/03/
The Revdex.com needs to quit giving Mr*** a platform to lodge a complaintI thoroughly vetted this entire situation in our last correspondence, continuing down this path is only dragging out a series of bad decisionsI will not budge from my presupposition that to cobble this firearm together, to satisfy Mr***'s expectations, could eventually lead to his death or dismembermentThe project as specified by Mr*** is unsafeI will NOT be placed in a position of negligence due to an unsafe design
What Mr*** wants is a full & complete refundWhat he was charged for, was for goods and services he has receivedHe was never billed for services I was unable to complete (in excess of an additional $for labor)The question is, can Mr*** validate whether or not the following hasn't met his expectations?
A Picatinny Base, Scope Rings, and a Crush WasherTotal with tax and shipping $
I customized the Picatinny Base to fit the gun, $(hours)
I repaired the holes in the barrel where the Iron Sights were, $(hours)
The Gun was Cerakoted Armor Black $(Flat Rate)
I mounted the the customized Picatinny Base to the Receiver, $(Flat Rate)
I Threaded the Barrel $(Flat Rate)
Total was paid to Big Mikes Armory & Repair $on January 29,
Of the above mentioned items, which hasn't been built or modified correctly? Or correctly charged? Or installed?
Reading Mr***'s response to my response; he is just upset that he cannot get what he wantsTime for Mr*** to grow upHe signed a legal contract and it's time for the Revdex.com to back away from this situation, as they are continuing to empower and fuel Mr***'s belief that some how I am at faultIf being overly safe is a reason to be accused, then I'm guiltySo I ask again, what part of what Mr*** was billed for, does he think he is entitled to be refunded?
Truth is Mr*** and I both have experienced a loss in this situationI would hope that Mr*** would allow me the opportunity to make it up to him in another way; possible working on another gun project down the road, at some discounted servicesBut if Mr*** continues with this Revdex.com line of reasoning, then I will not be willing to entertain any future work for Mr***
Sincerely,
*** ***
