Big O Tires (Central) Reviews (1)

Review: On 6/3/13 I took my car to Big O Tires for an oil change and a 22 point inspection. They told me I needed a power steering fluid flush and would eventually need a serpentine belt. I declined both at the time. On 7/10/13 the motor on my car seized. I had the car towed to my boyfriend's Dad's house (he's been a certified mechanic for 38 years) and he and my boyfriend checked the oil. The dipstick was completely dry. I called Big O Tires and they told me to have the car towed to them to be checked out. They wouldn't pay for the tow or reimburse me. After having the car towed to them I received a call the next day from a man named [redacted]. He said my car had 2 1/2 to 3 quarts of oil in it and since this was not a no oil situation Big O could not be responsible for the cost of replacing my motor. He said that my car could have had a main gauge go out but it was probable that the motor seized up and he wouldn't know either way until he removed the oil pan. My understanding is that both problems would be caused by low or no oil which continues to leave this at the fault of Big O Tires. [redacted] also told me that if I wanted to purchase my own motor it would be cheaper for them to put it in than if they had to fix the current one or find the replacement themselves. All of this is clearly a no oil problem and the last people to touch my car was Big O Tires. I paid Big O Tires for a service and one of their technicians failed to perform the job properly. It is their duty to replace or repair the motor that their poor performance destroyed.Desired Settlement: I would like this matter resolved by Big O Tires replacing and/or rebuilding my motor completely.

Response:

[redacted] did in fact come in and get a 12.95 oil change special. yes in fact we did recommend a power steering flush and serpentine belt and oil pan gasket because it was leaking all around excessive. which she fail to mention on her complaint. and yes if you drive a car with pan leaking like a sive it might last a month and her dad might have mention it sence hes been a tec for 38 years. and yes she told mike she would be back to get work done which she fail to mention in her heart felt report. also we will not replace motor. motor had 164,000 miles and rest of car shows it. I cant be held responsible for her failer to comply with recommendations. I also cant be held responsible for her financial well being. also if we would have not put oil in car it would nt make it of the oil rack and engine would lock up, and yes mr 38 year experience tec also should know that. [redacted] can come get her car. ill wait for call from her lawyer. thank you. again no good deed will go unpunished. PER [redacted]: We have informed the customer to come pick up her vehicle as we will not be offering any refund on this issue. We consider the alert closed.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: the business did NOT tell me that my car had an oil pan gasket leak because it did not. In fact, the tech wrote on the receipt what was wrong with my car, including how much it would cost to get the work done, and he did not write anything about an oil pan gasket. Also, when the problem occurred he remembered working on my car and admitted that the inspection only showed my car needed a power steering flush and serpentine belt. This leak was caused by the neglect of Big O Tires, whether the owner is willing to admit it or not, and making up an issue with my car is not going to release them from their responsibility to fix what they have broken. The amount of miles on my car is an irrelevant point is this matter. My car was in great condition, ran really well and was something I intended on using for a long time. Big O Tires may think the car is not worth fixing but it was something I relied upon. I'd rather have my car back than have to deal with all of this. Honestly, at this point I had decided that I didn't want to waste the time and money it would cost to continue with this issue when my main concern is to save for another vehicle to get back and forth to work. However, when considering the response of Big O Tires to my Revdex.com complaint, and the fact that they would blatantly lie about a non-existent problem with my vehicle to get out of the responsibility of this, I have decided that taking this issue further is well worth the hassle. I will be following this reply with a complaint to the Attorney General.
