Big Oak Tree Service Reviews (6)

The job was completed days before recieving this letter The customer told me that we could wait until we where in the area I did call him and appoligize for delay Job is complete! Thank you, Jeff B

I had bigoak tree service come out to trim a large tree limb that  was hanging over my driveway. They cut the branch half way and said they would return with a larger chain saw to cut the rest of the limb off. . Kept calling and calling and each time they gave me an excuse for why they...

could not make it . This went on for six weeks. Then they just  stopped returning my calls.

Used Big Oak Tree Service first time in May of 2014 they did a great job at a reasonable cost. They had to cross a creek bed with their truck and after adding the weight of the tree taken out to the back of the truck they got stuck getting out, they ended up calling a big rig tow truck to pull them out. [redacted] and his team were professional the whole time. Called them back in May of 2015 for 2 more trees they showed on time worked quickly and what I thought was an all day job they were done and gone in about 4 hours.

Review: Big Oak Tree Service was hired for cutting down multiple trees (8) as well as stump removal. On the day of arrival, Buddy (owner) stated that the stump grinder was broken and was being repaired, assured me that he would return within a week to grind the stumps. Unfortunately, on the day of the tree cutting/removal, one the trees fell onto the backside of my neighbors garage, subsequently receiving significant damage. After the incident, Buddy had stated that they were in a hurry and his "tree climber should of climbed the tree". Neighbor contacted by Buddy after the incident, wanted repair which was conducted in a timely manner. Contacted Buddy again withing 2-3 weeks after he had stated that he would return and didn't, Buddy stated that he was having stumps grinned in my neighborhood in the next several days and he would grind mine at that time. Unfortunately, this was never done. Contacted the phone number provided multiple times with majority of the time his wife being the one to answer the phone, last contact being 9/15/2015. She stated that since the repair of my neighbors garage was $600 and this was due to my negligence, they would not be grinding my stumps as stated previously on multiple occasions. I had stated to Buddy that my hopes would be for my two garages to be torn down, unfortunately, this was not able to be done prior to their servicing day. He is now stating that the garage damage was due to my negligence. If Buddy was not able to do the work that day in a safe manner, he should not of conducted the work on that day, even though after the incident, he stated that this was due to his workers error given they were in a "hurry and being lazy" and not climbing the significantly large tree that was feet away from the neighbors garage.Desired Settlement: I have contacted [redacted] Tree Stump removal. They will be giving me an estimate to remove the 8 stumps as previously promised and agreed upon by Buddy. I will be seeking the amount that is estimated by [redacted] once I receive there estimate. I have requested a copy of the money orders from [redacted] which has costed me $15.00 each, total of $30.00. If this is not remedied by Buddy,I will be seeking a judgement for the estimated amt as well as court cost/fees and the cost of the money order.

Review: On 1/30/16 I signed a contact for tree work to be performed. The contact states that two stumps would be dealt with within two weeks for an additional $100. The rest of the charges were paid when the trees were removed. Weather delays and a stump grinder needing repairs kept putting the promised grinding off. Finally I was told they would not do the stump grinding but would pay $100 for someone else to do it. Most tree service companies will NOT grind stumps of trees someone else removed. I got several estimates finally choosing a company that will do them for $300. This was the lowest bid. I repeatedly have attempted to talk to Buddy Litton, owner of Big Oak Tree Service. His wife has repeatedly said "I will have Buddy call you back." I told her we should split the charge....they pay $150...We pay $150. Again, the contract was only for us to have to pay an additional $100 if he had simply done his own stump grinding and not forced us to find someone else to finish the job.Desired Settlement: $150 check or $150 cash received to cover half of the job for another company to finish the job correctly and the matter to be resolved.

Response:

As we discussed, I was going to grind the stumps but told you it may be as long as a month before I got back to do yours. You have not paid me and I am under no obligation to pay half for you to pay someone else to grind your stumps just because you did not want to wait for me. Again, you have not paid me to grind the stumps.

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I have filed a Revdex.com complaint against Big Oak Tree Service and the issue remains unresolved. The complete package for which I have a contract is tree work plus stump grinding. The tree work was done on Jan. 30, 2016 $1,200. The contract states the stumps will be ground within 2 weeks for an additional $100. Excuse after excuse was given as to why they were not returning to grind the stumps as promised. Finally I was told by Buddy's wife that they would NOT grind the stumps and were under no obligation since I had not paid the additional $100. Obviously the stump work was part of a Complete job which was not provided. Tree service companies will not generally grind stumps for tree removal they did not do. The big $ is the removal. I shopped around and the best price I was given to complete Buddy's work was $300. That is $200 more than I was expecting to pay. Buddy's wife at one time agreed to pay $100 towards the bill for someone else to finish the job. The fair and only acceptable resolution is for them to pay half what we now have to pay to complete the full package job of removing trees AND the stumps as we had contracted for. We will consider the matter settled once Big Oak pays $150 towards the $300 bill.
