You can sign-up, but you can never leave
It appears that Big Sky Fitness is the Hotel California. Signing up and arranging a monthly payment is easy; cancelling your membership is nearly impossible. They are using a third party membership management company called ABC. I have been told that I can only cancel the three memberships for my three family members only if I have moved or if have a debilitating illness. When signing up over a year ago, I was made to believe that cancelling would be easy. Now I am being robbed in broad daylight.

Contacted Big Sky to cancel my Month to Month membership and they refused to cancel without a letter of cancellation and a contact from a Rep. They are just trying to get another month fees before they close out the membership. Filed complaint with BBB

Big Sky Simsbury _ complained many times about the lack of operating showers and the need for regular cleaningThe dust falling on me from the ceiling tiles put me over the edgeNO ONE ever is seen cleaning Burnt out light bulbs go unchanged for days even after it is brought to the staff's attention They are about to withdraw a "maintenance fee" from me to cover what? They do none! Poor management

We have researched [redacted] membership and have attached a copy of it for your review We’re not really sure what [redacted] would like us to do at this moment She claims she mailed us a letter canceling her membership day after she joined We never received such letter Then she goes on to complain that her trainer never returned her call to work out with her If she had canceled her membership one day after joining, why then would she expect to receive a complementary service that is available to only members ? Please let [redacted] know that if she can provide you with proof that she mailed or emailed us a cancelation request on June 10th, we would be more than happy to cancel her membershipThank you

I hate complaining, but have had enough For a gym that closes at 2:pm on Sundays (can't figure those hours out-doesn't make any sense), you would think that everything would be sparkling clean come Monday morning Never the case at the Simsbury location anyways Int he ladies locker room, a light bulb has been out for at least weeks, a shower out for months (there's always one out at any given time) and the flower vase smells horrible-clearly no one's changed the water in weeks It's always a hunt for tissues out on counters as well The staff is very sweet & helpful, but clearly there is no cleaning or maintenance crew I'm about ready to terminate my membership at this point which sucks because I was going to start doing personal training in Feb after minor surgery It's way too frustrating At least the Granby Y (where we came from) is cleaned on a regular basis This isn't the first time I've complained to management directly so decided to go to Revdex.com now Wondering if the health depthas ever been there to inspect?

We are sorry that you are unwilling to give our [redacted] location a try The club is only 1/mile off of the highway and while there is some traffic during rush hour, it always seems to move well As for making the statement that you do not feel safe in the town of [redacted] , we feel this is an extremely unreasonable statement Our facility is located off it's own private driveway and has a very well lit parking lot As a matter of fact, the club has been in that location for over years and all during that time it has always had a very popular group fitness program with women and silver sneakers program with seniors We can assure you that if those members felt unsafe, the programs would not be so well attended The terms of your agreement clearly specify that if you move further than miles from any one of our facilities you can cancel your agreement This is state law There have been times, when we have accommodated some members when they have moved, and have been miles or so from one of our facilities However, at miles you are well under the miles and it's not reasonable for us to just cancel your agreement If you are unwilling to give us a try, we are willing to meet you halfway with a buyout of your agreement You currently have payments of $left on your agreement If you agree to make a final payment of $100, essentially less than half of what is owed, we will then cancel your agreement

Big Sky and its associated services are unwittingly luring people into thinking that the contracts they sign for a gym membership are easily terminated/cancellable but this isnt the caseYou are locked into a term contract with auto-renewal and [redacted] their financial services will not cancel your contract

We have research Mrs***'s membership agreement and found that the recent charge to her account is for the annual enhancement fee of $39 plus tax. We've attached her agreement which shows that she initialed and agreed to that annual charge. Big Sky has committed no
errors or misrepresentations with Ms***, and find that she probably just forgot about that fee

We are very sorry that MsJackson did not have a satisfactory experience working with our training staff. Please let her know that we are refunding the two unused payments for a total of $339. The process usually takes 3-business days for the monies to show
up on her account

We have contacted our billing company [redacted] and
asked them to provide us with all records with regards to [redacted] membership

noted on the reverse side of his membership agreement that we've attached, all
membership changes go directly thru [redacted].
[redacted] notes showed that [redacted] did contact [redacted] on April 30,
to find out what the cancellation procedures were. At that time however no action was taken by
[redacted]. The next time [redacted] contacted [redacted] was on June 8, 2015. (We've attached
these records.) There were no other
records of [redacted] contacting [redacted] late in or in April 2015.
[redacted] has confirmed that [redacted] membership has been
cancelled. They also confirmed that the
charges from April and May were charged back by [redacted] credit card and he now will
be receiving a credit directly from them We have committed
no errors or misrepresentations with [redacted] membership, and we expect that he live
up to his signresponsibility as we always live up to ours

We have researched Mr. [redacted] membership and found that because his address in our system was his home address and not his school address the billing company did not have a change of address to act upon.  Students usually use their school address then provide proof of moving back...

home after school ends to cancel their membership.  In this case, since [redacted] address was his home address the billing company could not cancel per move.  [redacted] first contacted our billing company on May 1, 2015, so we've canceled his membership and refunded the dues for both May and June.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

We're sorry for any inconvenience that we've caused [redacted].  She did put a cancelation request into our office and at some point while trying to convey this information to her trainer we dropped the ball.   Once we were notified of our error, we immediately...

credited her account on 9/13 and let her know that it does take a few days for the bank to finalize the credit to her account.  At this time all monies should have been credited by now.  If she has any overdraft fees, we would be more than willing to reimburse [redacted].  Please let us know.Thank you.

The terms of your agreement clearly specify that if you move further than 25 miles from any one of our facilities you can cancel your agreement.  This is state law.  There have been times, when we have accommodated some members when they have moved, and have been 20 miles or so from one of our facilities.  However, at 8 miles you are well under the 25 miles and it's not reasonable for us to just cancel your agreement.  
If you are unwilling to give us a try, we are willing to meet you halfway with a buyout of your agreement.  You currently have 10 payments of $21.22 left on your agreement.  If you agree to make a final payment of $100, essentially less than half of what is owed, we will then cancel your agreement.

We're sorry that [redacted] does not understand why it's necessary to provide written documentation when canceling her membership.  The state of CT requires that if you cancel any agreement within the 3 day period you need to send the letter via certified mail.  That is clearly written on the agreement that she initialed and signed. 
In today's day and age, a saved email would provide the same proof.  Once a letter or email is sent, a follow up call could have been made a week later to make sure the notice was received.  We really don't know what [redacted] did or didn't do because she would like to just lay blame of the situation with us and not take responsibility for the fact that she did not cancel the agreement properly.  We would like to resolve this and have canceled her agreement.  We hope that a lesson was learned.

I am rejecting this response because: just like any other business that I've ever had to write a letter for an order to cancel they try to say they never received the letter and I'm just wondering if I put a letter in the mail what kind of prove what I have for that a picture of me putting it in the mailbox I'm not too sure what I'm supposed to do to get this done but I know that I responded on time and as far as you guys being upset because of what I said about the trainer it is true they never contacted me I could get phone records from my phone company showing when I try to contact you guys in regards to them not calling me back and that I have
