Review: I have rented two bikes from Bikerentalcentralpark on November *, 2012 and returned them on the next day. I was charged for 250 USD as deposit. When I returned the bikes, the clerk informed me that I will receive an email from their bank about the refund on the next business day, however I did not receive such an email nor did I receive any refund or valid explanation as to why the refund was never transferred. The Company does not answer to any of my emails or phone calls and I have been waiting for my 250 USD refund since last November. I have talked to the clerk on phone two times who promised me that he will attend to it. There is a pending procedure regarding this case before the NYC [redacted], where I do not get response on the merits either. The Company did answer at one occasion to the letter of the Department stating that they "cancelled" the charge on my bank account however they did not evidence such cancellation and I have never got back my 250 USD, it is still in their possession. I can evidence the rental of bikes, the payment of the deposit (by a receipt and a bank account extract) if necessary. I have initiated a complaint at my bank, however they could not help either as my complaint was filed late. The reason for that is that I was promised by the clerk of the Company that I will get a refund, thus I did not find it necessary at the time to file a complaint at my bank as well. I have been in continuous correspondence with the Compan and the [redacted] since last November without any result.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive a refund of the 250 USD deposit.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The amount of USD 250 which I request to have refunded to me, was not a fee for a service but a deposit for the rented bikes. A deposit which shall be released after the safe return of the bikes. I have returned both bikes within time, in perfect condition and was promised to have the 250 USD refund. Thus, the response of the business is ridiculous and unacceptable: the 250 USD amount was not a fee for any service, but a deposit for the rented bikes which shall be released upon the safe receipt of the bikes. On the basis of the above, I reject the response of the business and maintain my claim for the refund of USD 250.

[redacted] Respond to Complaint Greetings, As the documents have been reviewed, the previous responses have been made through investigation. Bike Rental Central Park still holds onto the statement of the bikes not being returned. The customer was charged $250.00 in which they have signed in agreement when the company’s bike was not returned. They were not charged for other bikes because we did not have a signed slip allowing us to withdraw more than what they have signed. The delay in messages from our customer service team was due to investigation. This has lead us to see the bikes were never returned to the company. The company has offered this customer a 24 month reboot as a courtesy. Again as stated throughout this email, a customer is charged $250.00 when bikes are not returned. The implications of the business are ridiculous, I have duly returned the bikes and was promised to get the refund, which I have not received since November 2012. I have attached earlier the correspondence between me and the business (see attached again) where the business never mentioned that I did not return the bikes, however if that would be the case, they would have surely referred to that. They also had my bank account details, thus they could have withdrawn the price of the bikes if I would not have returned them which of course they never did. The response of the business is completely unfounded and only serves the purpose of avoiding to grant my justified request. I have evidenced in my earlier submissions that (i) I was charged with 250 USD deposit, (ii) I returned the bikes duly and requested the refund and (iii) the refund has not been paid back to me ever since.On the basis of the above, I maintain my request for the refund of USD 250 and its interests.Please advise if you need any further information or documentation from my side in order to be able complete my request.Yours sincerely,[redacted]

Review: This bike rental was an absolutely disaster. We were planning to rent from another company but after coming out of the train station at Columbus Circle, we were bombarded by the salesman from Central Park Bike Riding. He offered us a competitive rate and we decided to rent bikes. We were a group of 6, with family from overseas, and were excited to show them Central Park. Unfortunately, it turned out horrendous. We rented 4 single bikes and 1 tandem bikes, we entered Central Park on the bike path. On the tandem bike, the chain kept slipping. A few blocks in, the chain completely flew off the bike and luckily the two riders were able to stabilize themselves without hurting themselves too bad. The bike was completely broken. Instead of two people enjoying the ride, one person had to steer and the second had to pedal for two people, using one chain instead of two! Then, the gears were entirely broken on two bikes. We barely made it back with bruised knees, pushing the broken tandem bike. We entered the store and explained to them that we didn't have the bikes out for the two hours and instead barely made it back with injuries. The customer service was atrocious, they did not offer us a refund and did not address the issue of the injuried we sustained from these bikes that completely broke. The manager was completely rude and left us extremely dissatisfied with a ruined day. He told us to call his boss and gave us a generic number that led us to a full mailbox, probably of complaints.Desired Settlement: Our desired outcome is our money back because we not only didn't enjoy our ride in Central Park, we sustained injuries and lost precious time. We lost almost half an hour simply arguing with the unpleasant staff.

Review: I rented 2 bikes from Bike Rental Central Park today (Sunday, Aug [redacted], 2013). It was $30 for a 2-hour rental. The first bike they tried to give me had a broken pedal, bald tires, bad breaks and a loose seat. The replacement bike seemed fine at first, but then 15 min into my ride, the chain busted and flew off. I was on 95th on the east side at this point and had to walk it all the way back to [redacted] st on the west side. When I returned the bike, I asked for my money back considering I not only had to walk 40+ blocks back and only used 15min of my 2 hour window, they refused and tried to blame me for the chain breaking, which is absurd, because I just wanted to enjoy a nice bike ride with my boyfriend. These bikes are dangerous and are putting customers in danger every day they are allowed to operate they way they currently are. They are only looking to make a quick buck off of a customer and do not care if they are safe.Desired Settlement: This company acts out of ignorance and they need to change their refund policy so that they are held accountable for supplying poor quality bikes to their customers. It's only a matter of time that someone gets in a serious accident because their bikes are poorly maintained. They should not be allowed to refuse refunds to customers who are not satisfied with the sub-par services they are providing.

Review: Took my family to rent bikes here after we were told they had new bikes 'close' to the park. It was a mile away and they took my cash and didn't provide bikes.
