Bikram La Jolla Reviews (2)

To Whom It May Concern:
margin-bottom: 5pt;">[redacted] has claimed the following in her complaint:
My response to her claim is written in RED below the specific comment her complaint stated:
1. “I was continually harassed and given a hard time by the Owner of this
studio.” I am the Owner of Bikram Yoga La Jolla, I do not recall ever meeting [redacted]. [redacted] attended classes at our studio from 11/18/2014 thru 5/6/2016. She attended 171 Classes. My records show, of those 171 visits, I was the instructor at ONLY ONE of those 171 visits. She generally attended classes in the afternoon and I generally instruct classes in the morning. On 1/6/2016 [redacted] was in my 5PM class. Since I instruct over 30 classes per month and oftentimes there are over 30 students in class, I do not always know every student in my classes. I do not know who [redacted] is. I have never harassed her, nor do I harass any of my students, nor have ever required any student to go beyond what they are comfortable doing.
2. “My offenses were: taking a break from the 105 degree room to get some
water.” Simply not true as we always encourage students to take a break. All instructors attend a 9 week intensive training class, which specifically encourages students to sit down and take a break at anytime. While we
prefer that students do not leave the room, we NEVER stop them from leaving. Teachers choreograph and instruct students on proper yoga form to eliminate injuries. It is a challenging series, yet, students are guided and perform together a very specific set of 26 postures and two breathing exercises. Same series of postures in every class. . “When I tried to “obey” and not do the things which [redacted]
instructed I could not do (would even single me out in class).” I have never asked anyone to obey. I will mention student's names in class to encourage them and point out ways to improve. I have never given derogatory or demanding commands to students. Yoga is about ourselves and doing the best we can, there is no judgment in yoga. Everyone is on a different level of practice and we all work together as one group. We encourage students to move together in and out of postures together. . “I severely injured myself and continue to suffer.”
This complaint is the first time our studio was notified of any injury [redacted] suffered. Regardless, students a sign a waiver releasing the studio of any liability to injury. She seems to be claiming an injury NOW, after 171 visits, with no prior acknowledgment of injury. Furthermore, the 26 yoga postures we practice are beginning postures, nothing advanced. This particular 26 posture series, is similar to physical therapy. . “There is no consistency to instruction, each teacher is totally different, and
not helpful or kind.” As I mentioned previously, every instructor at my studio has undergone an intensive 9 week training program and are certified to instruct the 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises. MEMORIZATION of the entire 90 minute class MONOLOGUE is a prerequisite so that ALL classes are taught identical. Since we are not clones, there are differences in voice tones, and personalities, BUT, this sequence and class is instructed verbatim. We aspire to consistency in all our classes. My teachers are all kind and nice, period. . “Furthermore, the studio is in the basement, has been flooded several
times, is very dirty and likely has mod allergen issues.” We have a storefont location. We are not in the basement. We are the lower level of 3 story mixed use building. We are on the same level as another gym and art gallery who also have storefont locations.
The last time we had a flood was over 3 years ago with heavy rains. Recently, we had a shower leak behind the wall and had to repair the entire wall, which was completed within 2 weeks to allow appropriate drying time. Bikram Yoga is not a spa, it is a very sweaty gym. The yoga room is heated to 105 degrees and every student sweats profusely, thus, immediately following classes, until we are able to open all the doors and ventilate the room, it does not smell good and the room and floors are wet. Our floors are mopped between every class and we have proper ventilation and make an extra effort to ensure our facility is kept very clean.
7. “I was abused, mistreated and injured, and suffered sinus, breathing problems and allergies.” In reality, [redacted] actually abused other students and teachers. I have lost other students as a result of her behavior over the past 6 months. Many of my students practice Bikram Yoga in order to help them with their allergies and breathing problems.
I have attached another document with copies of emails to support my studio and staff. I am a small business owner working very hard to provide a quality service to my community. I have not had any previous complaints and further research of my social media and website will testify that my business is not purported to be who [redacted] says it is.
In [redacted]'s last email to me, she requested a reimbursement of $99. I have satisfied that request and feel we should be able to separate and go our ways amicably. If, however, you require a more detailed purchase history, I will provide. [redacted] was given a very fair membership, a student rate, received enjoyed Groupons, plus, she was refunded a full month for classes she participated in.
Please respond and let me know this response will satisfy the Revdex.com. It is very important to me as a small business owner to stay in good standing with a very prestigious community oriented business that supports all.
