[redacted] signed a yoga membership contract for 6 months minimum membership at $140 per month. At the end of 6 months if students would like to cancel, all they need to do is come in and fill out a cancellation form and we will cancel out their account with us. [redacted] paid...

Thus, there should be no further complaint or money owed to [redacted].  We do not give our members a tough time canceling their contract, they just have to let us know in advance after the 6 months and fill out the one page cancellation sheet. Review: I signed up for Bikram Yoga for a special price of $140 for 6 months that I enjoyed. After the time spent there, I decided to no longer go there and have called them to find out how to stop my membership. The representative has told me that I would not be charger anymore.A month later I noticed another pending $140 on my account. I called and [redacted] said that I did not cancel anything and that it's been already charged and thats it. When I mentioned that I will call my credit company to dispute the charge, she wished me "good luck" and said that "she would do everything she can not to return the charge"Desired Settlement: the business has done this before, they take advantage of people who think they are no longer members of buckram. [redacted] has numerous complains of the same nature as this one. [redacted] has received multiple complaints regarding this issue.

Review: I made a contract for six months at Bikram yoga but during that contact I have been diagnosed with extreme adrenal fatigue, I continued to go but my endocrinologist recommend I take it easy and stop this kind of workout because it doesn't help me.

I was feeling that it did not' t help but loved the 90 min in hot sauna room doing yoga until I was going home and could't do anything else at that moment in June I stopped and came in contact with [redacted] the owner and explained that although I have a contact till September [redacted] I would like to break it and do not pay for July, August and SEPTEMBER because I was unable to participate and my doctor sent a letter so she can understand. No response, sent another email, sent another, finally a short response telling me that I have to honor my contact and not complain , I send another email explaining my condition, no response.

I get very upset because I thought I would get some understanding. Only after I sent her that I will contact "BBS" she responded that I should not complain agin and continue if it felt right and file a complaint.

*Desired Settlement: 07/**/2013 07/**/2013 Sale BIKRAM YOGA GRAND CENT $125

08/**/2013 08/**/2013 Sale BIKRAM YOGA GRAND CENT $125

Refund of these two months and not be charged for September 2013

Response:

Good afternoon. I am writing in response to the 2 complaints above. The first, [redacted] complaint ID [redacted] concerns a membership contract valid for 6 months minimum which I have attached. [redacted] paid for the 6 months but apparently during the 6 month time frame experienced health issues. While I am of course sympathetic, we do not offer extensions or refunds when we sign monthly debit students up, especially in light of the fact that we offered [redacted] our discount of $125 per month instead of the regular $140 per month pricing. a single month without a contract costs $180. She has been cancelled per her request and I do not believe she has any cause for complaint against BYGC - we are very amiable when it comes to fair pricing and upholding contracts.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Review: I signed an agreement with Bikram Yoga Grand Central on January **, 2013, authorizing six automatic debits from my checking account in the amount of $140 for monthly membership at the studio. The first authorization commenced on that day. Per our contract, six automatic debits in the amount of $140 is to be in effect for the following months: 1. January *. February *. March *. April *. May *. June On June **, I let [redacted] (no longer with Bikram Yoga Grand Central) that I will be moving to Germany on June [redacted]. Since the agreement covered the aforementioned months, [redacted] advised me that this automatic debit will automatically cease. On July **, 2013, I noticed a seventh debit of $140 from my account. I called Bikram Yoga Grand Central from Berlin, Germany, in order to advise the business a second time that this automatic debit is to cease per our contractual agreement. At this point, Bikram Yoga is in arrears $140 payable to me. I was advised that this problem would be sorted and the $140 refunded to the authorized account. Today, August **, 2013, I notice a second $140 charge to my checking account that constitutes a second violation of our contract. Instead of apologizing and helping me solve this problem as is customary in business (myself a lawyer and banker), you hung up on me and made a threat to not solve my problem if my behavior did not meet your standards. Bikram Yoga Grand Central has now made $280 in unauthorized bank debits which I want resolved IMMEDIATELY. I have alerted my legal counsel to this breach of contract as well.

Business

Response:

The first I heard of [redacted] wanting to cancel his contract came with a phone call one morning about 2 weeks ago during which he yelled, cursed, and threatened me with his attorney. He had paid for 8 months of membership and claimed he let someone know verbally he wanted to cancel. His contract is the same as [redacted]'s above, 6 months minimum with a cancellation form to stop the payments. First, I was checking in students when he called and his abusive nature forced me to ask him to email me instead so I could handle his complaint and as he refused to calm down I did in fact hang up. Since I never received a cancellation form, I had no way of knowing he wanted to discontinue with us. He did in fact place a credit card dispute on 2 months of charges which he has already received back so I do not believe his continued complaint against me and BYGC is warranted.

Thank you for your help with these and I hope you have a great day.

Review: I recently lost my grandmother to [redacted] a few months ago. I contacted Bikram grand central about a month ago and a young girl had told me I had until the end of december to use my [redacted] but due to extenuating circumstances if it expired they would help me out and just to come in. I also got the flu due to working in a hospital setting. My grandfather has been in and out of the hospital due to exhaustion and stress and making himself sick due to my grandma passing away. I have been trying to juggle me getting sick, my grandmother passing away, and my grandfather needing me to help him at home. the last thing on my mind was going to yoga at that point in time. I now am feeling a weight off my shoulders, things are slowly getting better for me and my family and I would like to resume hot yoga.

I called today and wanted to come in with my boyfriend (our [redacted] of course had to expire yesterday)- the [redacted] would not get on the phone with me and a girl who answered the phone had no sympathy whatsoever. They basically stated we would lose half of the money from the [redacted] to use for towel rental. All I was asking was to be able to use the [redacted] or at least be able to give me the [redacted] price we paid due to these extenuating circumstances. we don't have much money which is why we purchased the [redacted] to begin with. I am not asking for money back- I am simply asking for the [redacted] we paid for to be able to be used- or at least to buy a new [redacted] and be refunded for this one. I felt as if no one would help me. The girl I spoke to told me the [redacted] would NOT call me back. How could I get to the bottom of anything when the business will not even allow me to talk to the [redacted]. I am begging for someone to help. I am devastated that not even an "i'm sorry for your loss" came from that phone call. I have never ever ever seen any business act this way especially over a situation like mine. I would appreciate some help. Thank you very much.Desired Settlement: Replacement of mine and my boyfriends [redacted] with a new groupon. My boyfriend was by my side through this all. He would not have gone without me. which was explained over the phone. I just would like to use our [redacted] for the 2 months unlimited like we paid for.

Review: I signed up for an unlimited pass for this yoga studio - to which I paid $125 a month. I committed in writing at the beginning of this time that I must commit to paying for this pass for a minimum of 6 months. but then after that, I could cancel at any time.

Near the end of this 6 month period - I decided to cancel my subscription because I was moving to a different city and would be unable to use this membership. I called the business and informed them of this; I was told that I needed to come in-person to fill out a cancellation form before the next month's charge applied.

I showed up to the business early Saturday morning on May [redacted] (the day before the next month's charge was to be applied to my credit card), and filled out the form. I was promised that this would take effect immediately and my card would not be charged.

However, the following day, my credit card was charged $125. I called the business to inform them of their mistake and request a refund - I got their voicemail, and my voice message was never returned. I called again a couple days later and got to the [redacted]. I was informed that they would not refund my charge because I did not have "common sense" and there was no way they could process a cancellation that fast.

Not only was the [redacted] extremely rude, but she also completely ignored my complaint that they were in violation of our written cancellation agreement. She also completely disregarded the fact that I was told by multiple individuals representing the business that all I had to do was request a cancellation before the next month's membership started.Desired Settlement: I am not requesting any punitive damages. I am simply requesting that the business refund the $125.00 charged to my credit card in violation of our cancellation agreement.

I would accept this $125 refund by credit card credit, check, or cash.

We are more than happy to cancel memberships in advance of the next payment schedule. He did this on 5/** and has already received credit for this charge and his account is cancelled. Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

Firstly, I dispute the [redacted]'s statement that I came in the day the charge was applied to my credit card. I called the business to request a cancellation May **. I went in-person to the business to sign a cancellation form on May **. My account was to be renewed on May **, and the charge did not hit my credit card until May **.Secondly, the [redacted] admits that I requested a cancellation both on the phone and in-person before my membership was up. She stated that she just needed "a few more days notice". This requirement of notice was not ever given to me - either in writing or orally. Obviously, if I knew I needed to give a certain amount of notice, I would have made sure I complied. In fact just the opposite happened - I was told by at least three other front office workers (none of which was the [redacted]) that all I needed to do was sign the form before my membership was up. She also completely glossed over the fact that I requested a refund afterward - before I contacted the Revdex.com or my credit card company. She could've easily processed a refund at that time, but she refused. She also could have easily processed a refund after receiving my Revdex.com complaint, to completely resolve the issue. Again, she did not.Thirdly, I 100% dispute her assertion that I have been refunded this money by my credit card company. She is correct that I have initiated a dispute, but according to the status of the dispute online (checked this morning), it still reads as "Investigation in Progress".

Finally, I request that my name be redacted from the company's response should this complaint be made public on the Revdex.com website.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,
