Bikram Yoga Union Square

Review: I purchased a year long membership to Bikram Yoga Union Square on April [redacted], 2013 for $868. The owner, [redacted] insisted it was the best deal and did not recommend doing a monthly membership. Just over a month later they announced (May [redacted]) that they would be closing the next day. On their [redacted] page they said they would not continue to debit monthly accounts but any year memberships had to be transferred to a lower east side studio or herald square studio. There was NO information or contact to get money back if we didn't want to go to these locations. These two locations are independently owned and I was informed by both that because [redacted], the owner of the Union Square location would not be paying them to take on his students, they were only offering memberships through the end of this year (rather than through next year as I paid for). I fought the charge with my bank and the response from Union Square was that we were transferred to a sister location (not true). The former owner of this location, [redacted], basically cheated many people, including other studio owners out of thousands of dollars. I simply want my money back for the time at the studio I did not receive.Desired Settlement: I want a refund for the money I put in for 11 months of yoga I did not receive - I feel it's totally unacceptable that we were given no choice in the matter and that I have lost out of a HUGE chunk of money while the former owner has been completely unaccountable. Review: I practice at this yoga studio almost everyday since last December 2012.Last Wed. May [redacted] 2012 I went to the lesson at 7.30pm. The next day they closed the studio without warning (although the day before they were selling packages for one year and six months.I saw this) and [redacted], the owner, is not offering refunds for packages or standing balances. Of course, there is no way to contact him.He just disappeared. Herald Square Bikram yoga and Bikram Lower East Side are accepting transfers but they are not receiving NO money from [redacted] (that´s what [redacted],the owner of the Herald Square Bikram Yoga studio, told me last May **). I paid for a 3 month package and I used just half of it (I started using it last April [redacted] and the last day I could practice was last May [redacted] as I said, so one month and a half is still paid.I paid $363 so he owns me $181). The owner is not refunding the money and is not giving money to the other studios that are helping him,so where did my money go?Desired Settlement: Persons like this one, who don´t respect their clients, should not be able to open a bussines never again.Customer deserve some respect. You don't treat people like this.

OC Yoga Unlimited Corp aka Bikram Yoga Union Square officially closed its doors on May [redacted], 2013. The company is bankrupted. The company has no assets to offer refunds, and has been evicted from the studio location at [redacted]

Bikram Yoga Union Square had a strict no refund policy, which is clearly stated in the student contract, which is signed by every new member of the studio. You will find this waiver included with this letter. As an alternative to the services at Bikram Yoga Union Square, students who purchased packages before May [redacted], 2013 were offered transfer memberships at Bikram Yoga Herald Square and Bikram Yoga Lower East Side. Both of these studios are within a 20-block radius of the location of Bikram Yoga Union Square. At these studios, students are offered the same exact services as Bikram Yoga Union Square, and all packages are being honored by the student's transfer studio of choice.

OC Yoga Unlimited Corp and Bikram Yoga Union Square will not be issuing any refunds or credits to students and customers. Please send any future inquiries and requests to [redacted].
