I read over the response for Bill Erraras and I have my view of the matter.  First off when he states the account has the usual unpaid balance, that is a statement...

twisted around.  I have had to pay my bills in 2-3 payments at times due to the amount but they are the ones that offered that to me in the past.  Just so we are clear on that, I did not ask for this but I did appreciate it.  Secondly, at one point I had a credit there of 110.00 which I told them to keep because I would be bringing in one of my three cars at some point for inspection and they would be getting it anyway.  I'm not sure I see how that justifies always having an unpaid balance as he stated.  When I spoke to [redacted] on the phone, he distinctly stated  what was wrong with my car, quoted 1,500.00 to repair.  I did ask him what his opinion was because I did trust him and he said, You don't have the money to buy a car for 5,000.00 so getting this fixed at this price you could get another 100,000 miles out of the Subaru.  When I asked again the price he said he would have a better idea when he sees the motor being as it might need hoses and screws.  The motor was 1,100.00 and everything else he did was way more than hoses and screws.  As for the clutch, they put a new clutch in my subaru around 18 months ago.  A brand new one and I had no choice but to get it done.  Close to 700.00 and you're telling me I need a new one without even telling me.  I drove that car 2 weeks prior to the motor going and there was nothing wrong with my clutch.  And I never asked if the clutch pressure plate came with the motor.  I wouldn't know to ask that.  I was shown the clutch, which could have been anybodies'  how would I know and the ball joint.  Nobody asked to do this.  No phone call, nothing.  I have told them to repair things in the past but not on this level of cost without letting me know.  I stopped in Monday of the week to see what was going on, still no mention of the clutch.  I called Wed. of that week to get a cost, still no cost break down.  Asked Harry, who worked on the car and he did not know, left a message at the desk to call with final tally.  No phone call.  Waited til the next day when I was picking it up, and that is when they told me the cost and what was done.  One more thing, I was told I could not have my car until paid in full, which I had not gotten the final bill yet and when I paid my first 600.00 towards the motor I also paid a remainder due and once again, 2 seperate checks and I had a credit again.  I have every statement and bill and payments and I get paid every 2 weeks and usually paid  every other pay check and they were fine with that.  Like I said they offered to do that.  Things have been twisted around and for once I feel I was really taken advantage of, for no reason.

As I have stated, this took place while I was out of town.  My mechanic quoted me a price over the phone, witnessed by my two children who were in the room with me when I was talking with him on monday April 21, 2014.  He quoted a price of 1,500.00 which included the motor of 1,100.00 and to install between 300-400.00.  He also said that when he looks at the motor he may need to replace some hoses and nuts/bolts, etc.  I was not sure how much that meant and I myself added another 200-300.00 more just to be prepared to pay the amount due.  Yes I did stop payment on the check.  The resolution I am looking for is to pay what is quoted or within a few hundred of that amount as I stated above.  When I got home from my trip I went in to see my mechanic and called and spoke to him.  He did not even get the motor til a week after which I believe it got to them on Monday April 28th, 2014.  I had stopped in that day and he said it was to arrive that evening.  Called again on Tues., no return call and Wed. no return call.  Spoke to somebody there who said they would call me back with a bill and still no call.  I then proceeded to call on Thurs. morning coming in to pick it up and prepared for something between 1,500.00-1,700.00 and she said another 1, 324.00 was owed and I already paid 1,200.00 plus all debts were paid and had a credit when I came in to get my car.  Now the bill is 2,524.00 and I was acutally quoted 1,500.00.  Quite a difference from the start.  I have never had a written quote from this company.  They have always just told me an estimated cost and I have always believed them.  To be off 1,000.00 is alot of money and worth a phone call.  I trusted them.

This is our second response to the reply submitted by our customer. When the
mechanic was in the process of removing the motor of this car, the clutch was checked
and was worn down to the rivets. When a clutch is replaced for this car, it is a costly
job so it was replaced just to save her costs since he wouldn’t have to tear everything
apart again later. It was the same for the ball joints which were in bad shape. The
customer was not even aware that the cost of labor for replacing these parts was not
added to the bill. When we take this matter to the magistrate, we will add labor costs
that we gave up to save her money. The loss due to the damage to our reputation and
the ross of money paid out to repair this vehicle may never be recovered. Even though
our actions were for the advantage of the customer, we were blamed for the cost
of the parts. We will make an effort to see that this type of situation does not happen
again.

Review: have a 2002 Subaru forester that had to get an engine replaced. my mechanic found me a used engine for 1,100.00 and said it would be around 400-500.00 to install. So he said it would be around 1,500.00 or close incase some hoses and odds and ends need to be replaced. I had paid 1,200.00 up front because they told me that I had to pay something. also they said I had to pay in full on completion. I went in to pick it up and the bill was 1,324.00. Plus the 1,200.00 I already gave them. He quoted me 1,500.00 or around that. He also did things to my car and never asked me. He replaced the clutch, which was already replaced 18 mos ago. I feel he took total advantage of me for being a women and not knowing what to expect. That is almost double the quote.Desired Settlement: I am willing to pay what was quoted but I don't feel I should be responsible for things they did without asking or making me pay that outrageous price they never told me. I was definitely not prepared for that cost. I have talked to many different people and they actually feel that if a man was there, this probably would not have happened.
