Bill Howe Plumbing Inc Reviews (6)

Review: I contacted Bill Howe to come out to the house due to a possible water leak. Two plumbers arrived and quoted an hourly rate of $145.00 to start any work.

I was told the problem was probably a broken part on the meter. I agreed to the work and after a few minutes was told that it is not the meter and a pipe somewhere on the property. They would need to dig up the lawn and now the rate is $50.00 more per hour to $195.00 to pay for the trainee that was observing the plumber.

I told them I was insulted by their old bait and switch business tactic and to stop the work. I then called the Bill Howe office and spoke to their supervisor Tom and shared with him the experience I had. He said they would not be charging me for looking at the meter and then dismissed the complaint and hung up on me. I should have seen the red flag with this business when the plumber told me that they normally work inside the house and not on the outside and used a plastic cup from 7eleven to bail out the accumalated water rather than a pump or more professional and effecient too.

I explained my biggest complaint is the bait and switch tactic and taking off work for the afternoon and the loss of pay.

Consumer beware please.

Response:

We checked for the leak in the meter box and found the leak

was further up the line somewhere in the yard. Our technician presented three

options. We could call CPL (an exterior leak location company) to come and

locate the leak. We do all inside locations, but not exterior and refer that

out and then we make the repair based on that location service. We could start

digging in the area the leak was most likely coming from at $145 per hour. Or,

we could start digging with both the plumber and the helper at $195 (helper at

$50/hr and plumber at $145) which would make the digging faster. We offered

very transparent pricing for all options.

Our plumber did bail out the water using a cup, which is

common practice and a much quicker method of determining if the leak is in the

meter box (It is difficult to get a pump in the meter box with limited room).

We always outline options for our customers whenever

possible and feel this is a case of miscommunication. We do plumbing work and

leak repair outside and would happily dig with, or without, extra assistance,

and attempt to find and diagnose problems swiftly for the benefit of our

customers. We will happily discuss the service call if the customer wishes, but

do not feel we have acted unethically.

Thank you.

We have used Bill Howe's services twice and were very pleased with this business. This summer we needed to replace the air conditioner and called Bill Howe. We received a good estimate and there was no pushing to buy a new air conditioner. The technicians provided us with an honest assessment. We were very happy with the team that installed the new unit. [redacted] and his partner were very professional and knowledgeable. They worked efficiently and did not disrupt our days. The new unit, Lennox, works great. We will definitely use Bill Howe's services again if needed.

Review: In February, Bill [redacted] plumbing was hired to replace my water heater. The technician forgot to tighten the flex hoses on top of the heater, causing major water flood damages. Their flood and restoration dept should have taken care of this immediately, (isn't that what they are for?) They didn't, and after waiting 3 days for them, I had to hire another company to repair the damages THEY caused? Everytime I called them, I was told that all was turned over to the Insurance company and to call them, so I asked for a name & number and NEVER got a reply. I requested my refund via certified letter AND MEDIATION but all was refused, causing me to file in small claims court. HOW CAN THEY THINK THEY DON'T OWE ME ANYTHING FROM THE DAMAGES THEY CAUSED??? I just want this mess to be over and to put it behind me... Obviously they don't agree...PLEASE HELP.....................Desired Settlement: $1,000 for the water heater/labor, and $5,000 for all the inconvenience I have been going thru; ESPECIALLY THE ENTIRE MONTH OF FEBRUARY when it happened. I couldn't get into my kitchen; and my washer & dryer were out of commission since I had a large hole in the wall between the house and garage and humidifiers everywhere drying the wood before the plaster and installation could be replaced... This has been such a HUGE inconvenience to my husband and I. We call it the "great flood"!!!

Response:

Dear

We feel that we have responded to the unfortunate events

surrounding this service in a professional manner, adhering to the proper procedures.

Once the customer contacted us regarding an issue, we responded immediately.

Additionally, our restoration team was on site several times with

recommendations to treat the water damage in the best interest of the property

and customer. We attempted to rectify the situation and take care of all

damages the customer felt were caused by us. [redacted]ver, the customer refused to

allow our restoration team to properly remediate the water damage, and did not

want to go forward with recommendations for structural drying. The customer

also hired a separate company, filed an insurance claim and asked our

restoration team to remove themselves, and their equipment, from the property.

We felt it was in the best interest of all parties involved to allow the insurance

companies to resolve the matter for the customer. We were advised that the customer

was fully reimbursed all monies for all damages. All further correspondence was

to go through insurance, as is customary, and the customer can contact their

insurance company for all updates.

Tina [redacted] has personally responded to the

mediation company and been in constant contact with the [redacted] insurance

company following professional advice for proper procedures and communication.

We also received a certified letter on April 29 from the customer and immediately

sent a response via email acknowledging receipt of the letter and informing the

customer that per our insurance company, it was now out of our hands and we

were awaiting their report. The insurance company should have already reached

out to the customer at that time.

As the customer has already filed a claim with

Small Claims Court, we are prepared to address the events described at that

scheduled date.

Sincerely,

Bill Howe, what can you say about them. They know how to rip you off. They don't correct any thing with a single service visit, they come back several times. That way they can charge you for each service visit. I originally had them install a new AC/heating unit. Thought it was pretty good job and it worked great till right after the full warranty was done, not only parts are free. So they come back several time to correct the issues. First the coil went out and that took four visits and over $1000 just in labor. Then a couple of more months went by and then the pump unit failed. But after two more visits, I changed it myself. Way cheaper that way.

Review: We had Bill Howe install a three unit mini split system in our home May 2011. We have had nothing but problems with the system. This was an absolute nightmare. The inside units arrived at our house out of the box. The were scratched, and dirty; missing their filters. They installed the system incorrectly, and had to spend an extra day figuring out what happened.

My biggest complaint is that they installed condensation pumps, which have caused nothing but problems and noise. I have called them non stop to fix the issue. They came out a couple of times to check the pumps, and have replaced a couple that were installed incorrectly. These replacement pumps are also defective, or installed incorrectly. The pumps are so loud that we can not use the air conditioning system. I was told last year that they would no longer cover their warranty, and that I would have to pay for them to come out again. I've called Bill Howe, and have spoken to [redacted], who took my information, and said that someone would call me back to go over the issue. I sent him information from the pump manufacturer showing that the installation was done incorrectly, but I never received a call back, and they stopped taking my calls.

Using the system today, and it started pouring water out of the bottom.Desired Settlement: I would like Bill Howe Plumbing Inc, to fix the issue.

Dear Mr. [redacted],

Review: Hello All.... ( [redacted] Howe & [redacted], Plumbing Supervisor )

I have requested many times over for a copy of my signed invoice along with my credit card receipt be mailed to me, since the technician, Danilel, failed to leave me a copy which in fact is against the law. work was performed January 30, 2013.. To this day 02-25-14, ihave yet to receive a signed copy of the invoice that I signed that night along with a copy of the credit card receipt, I have since filed a complaint with the State Contractor License Board and Revdex.com and anywhere else I can let people know of this type of service. Bill Howe does not care about their customer nor do they have good customer service.. Is it really that hard to put the copy's in the mail to me ?? Are they trying to cover something up ?? Why wasnt I given a copy that I signed that wsame night of service ?? It is common practice to ALWAYS give the customer a copy of the signed paperwork, it is against the law if one is not received. I will no longer use this company nor will I refer them to anyone... I have requested a FULL REFUND of the $265.50 for poor customer service, from the company, and thru the CSLB and Revdex.com. Lets see what the end results will be...Desired Settlement: Full Refund in the about of service of $265.50
